It's the Series 7 from the UK that is being broadcast in the US as Season 4. My local PBS station isn't airing it until Sunday.

Love this show. Seasons 4 - 6 are on Netflix. I just started watching this show on Netflix. It says it's season 1 though. There are 3 seasons available, and this one says it's from 2010. SaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSave

It will start here in about half an hour. It looks like they are running the first two episodes back to back.

Last night I settled in with a nice drink, a cat snuggled beside me, and gave instructions not to be disturbed from 9-11. I love this show.

For some reason my Tivo didn't find this show for me, even though I told him to always record it, so thank you peas for pointing it out.
DH is a retired baker and we always watch together. It's fun learning about all the different baked goods.
We also like how basically every single person on the show is so darn likable. There is never a "villain" that you are rooting to get the boot. Every single week you are sad when someone has to go.
And DH keeps referencing the woman who said "I like the flavor of Cox" as she made her apple cake. Yes, we know Cox are a type of apple. We are just juvenile.

I watched both of the new (to the U.S. PBS audience) episodes over the weekend and I'm always so surprised at the types of baked goods I've never heard of: mirror glaze cakes, drizzle cakes, Jaffa cakes. I'm curious if any British peas would comment and let us know if these are commonly known/popular cakes? I'm not familiar with any of them!

I'm curious if any British peas would comment and let us know if these are commonly known/popular cakes? I'm not familiar with any of them! I would think a drizzle cake would be a commonly home baked cake. I would think an experienced baker would try a mirror glaze but pretty sure most Brits had never thought to make a Jaffa cake. Why? Because to most people you pick a box of them up in the biscuit aisle. The biggest furore around Jaffa cakes was the discussion between the manufactures and the tax office as to whether they were a biscuit or a cake. The difference mattered as tax is added to chocolate covered biscuits but not chocolate covered cakes. The manufacturer won the case and they are regarded as cakes although they are the size of biscuits.
