The surprising experience of Steve Duncan actually turning up on a thread and chatting about his line "toy box" got me to thinking....Do you think any other designers ever lurk here and take any notice of our preferences? Shimelle,or AmyTan maybe......a lot of them were peas back in the day....? Or are we just the silent majority...consigned to partying by ourselves in the corner? I would like to hope that's not the case....and that next years releases are not going to be full of pink/turquoise/gold forest animals having the best day ever.....!

They would be wise to read here. We are a free focus group.

I think the big names come when their name specifically is used because of Google notifications.
But I would think it wise for either the scrapper themself or someone in their employee to glance at any scrappy message boards to get a feel for what we, as consumers, want.

Katie, Ali Edwards assistant, posted on the Studio Calico thread a few times. Critical posts/threads must be a painful read, but valuable, I agree. Lots of not sugar coated opinions, all for free.

You'll find this interesting. My first scrapbooking class was from Heidi Swapp at the famous Memory Lane...it was before she became famous. And it was because of her that I first heard of 2Peas...she casually mentioned it in class. BTW...she was a really bad instructor...rambled for two hours BUT then kicked into gear and I learned Soooo Much the last hour. And she wore really cute toe rings.

A rep from ACOT popped in one time to resolve a customer service issue. Based on the thread views vs. comment numbers, there are many many lurkers.
I would assume that industry people read this. If they don't, they should. Like others said, free focus group with lots of free opinions -- good, bad and ugly. We're not known for sugar coating it, are we?

The benefit of anonymity means we tell it like it is. If we had something negative to say about a place we usually enjoy shopping with or the products from, it's much harder to say something negative when it's a company you generally love. I feel that way about Echo Park. I'd never say what I think about Echo Park's recent changes to Madison's face, but if he saw criticism and made a positive change based on it? I would be glad to have had a place to say that without feeling guilty for having said something negative toward a company I love.

I've always thought that most of them do. It's a smart move. The old 2Peas sometimes had designers and company reps post responses. Ive also wondered if any of them post here under anonymous names. I guess it's a possibility.

So perhaps a new thread... Things the designers and companies should know.

Who is Madison, and what's going on with her face? Madison (a guy) is one of the owner's of Echo Park. I am not thrilled with some of EP's business decisions lately, but I like him and wouldn't want to be overly critical if I were having a conversation with him.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. But then again when we were all complaining about yet more mustaches they kept appearing in more lines so maybe not. Same with pineapples, llamas, flamingos and glasses they are still here.

I can't speak for the other designers, however I like to hear what everyone is saying about my lines, the good and bad. It helps me be a better designer and provide your with what you need. I take every comment seriously and there have been some very good constructive criticism and insight provided. Sometimes it takes a while to add your suggestions into my work. I work almost a year out on each line so your patience is appreciated. I usually am working on next year's Christmas line just during, or after, Christmas. It just amazes me how folks can take my art and create BRILLIANT things with it. Things that I would never have imagined when I was illustrating the artwork. I am very fortunate to be able to do what I love for a living and know that my work is just one part of an ongoing creative process. You all bring a new life to it! High-fives to everyone!!!

stevenduncandesignerAs one of OA's biggest individual purchasers, can I tell you how much I am loving your designs? although I loved and purchased the first lines you did with CB, the newest ones we have seen pieces of - the Christmas and Kitchen line for EP - are by far my favorites since OA's demise. They are much more suitable for scrapbooking in my opinion, and I LOVE that I will easily be able to combine them with my stash of OA papers to make them look new again! If you worked on the Nightlight Line for OA it sure would be great if you created something that would help me stretch the last few precious sniblets of that paper. The colors in that line were the best I have ever seen, such a beautiful bright yet dark blue, the dark almost burnt orange, the cherry red, the gourgeous vibrant lime green- and not a pinch of pink anywhere. We need more lines with those colors! And more fluffy cloud papers, just because!
