My MIL was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and will be starting chemo soon. I want to put together a basket of items that she may need to help with her comfort during this hard time. We live local to her and are already planning on bringing meals to her and FIL (knowing that she may not want to eat, but it will help FIL) and will clean their house weekly.
If you or a loved one has gone through chemo, what are some useful items that you appreciated? Anything I should avoid? I know scented items are not good. She is not a reader but she does like games.
Any advice/helpful hints are appreciated.
Thanks!

I have a "go" bag for DH. It contains some unscented hand lotion, lip balm, pens/pencils, protein bars, an envelope with $1 bills for parking/valet & vending machine, phone charger, etc.
A warm blanket is very helpful.
Most of the items in the go bag are for me, the caregiver, as DH usually sleeps through his treatments.

I'll second the warm blanket. Also if it's a long treatment, maybe some warm fuzzy socks so she can take off her shoes and relax but still be able to keep her feet warm (my MIL did this when she was sick). Some crackers and water are also helpful for some. My MIL was not a big reader either, she liked to do crossword puzzles if she wasn't sleeping. My SIL also took her iPad and let MIL watch Netflix or Hulu sometimes to pass the time. Good luck to her and you guys - it's such a hard thing to go through!
