How do you store your stencils? I've gotten into mixed media and art journaling over the last 6 months or so and have accumulated quite a stash of stencils. Some are pretty intricate, so leaving them in a big pile in an old kit box isn't working anymore because they get caught on each other and bend when I go rummaging through. I've thought about storing them in page protectors in a binder or an album. Does anybody have a better suggestion?

I have kept all mine in there original packaging then I store those in a 12x12 iris box.. I think the page protectors would be a great idea.. They get tangled up easily if not contained somehow.. you can never have to many stencils ~

I keep mine in their original packaging (if it has any) and hang them on a pegboard. However, a few months ago, I picked up some of the retail plastics (the hanging things for items that don't already have them) with an opening on one side, so I don't have to take off every stencil to reach the one that I want. I'm considering the same thing for my flat alphas that I also hang...but haven't gotten to it and probably don't have enough of them left, lol. If you think that might work for you, try looking on ebay for them. My next step is to hopefully set up one of my Raskog carts with all of my various supplies. If that ends up working out, I'll keep a big piece of cardboard cut from a larger box to make sure they stay upright and don't flop and bend.

Most of mine are Tim Holtz stencils. I got tired of taking them in and out of the packaging, so I threw out the outside wrapping, but kept the paper background to use like dividers. The stencils are all standing on their sides in a little decorative box. Its pretty easy to flip though, and they don't get tangled that way.

I'm working on putting duck tape around the outside of them and then putting J tabs on the top. Then I can hang them on the pegboard for easier access. I think maybe it was Julie Balzer who I got the duck tape idea from, not sure who I got the J tab Idea from.

My original packaging is long gone and mine are just in a pile in a drawer. I need to figure something out, too.

I store them in a 12 x 12 Iris container. I have the packaging for many of them but not all. This is working for me now, but I'm certainly interested in hearing other storage options.

I actually do put mine in page protectors which I store in a binder. I put a sheet of colored pager behind each stencil so it's easier to see. This works well since I can store all sizes. For some of the smaller stencils I tape it to the paper wiretap drafting tape so I can fit several in sheet.

I have been putting all stencils in one page protector and hang it inside a cabinet door. But now I'm getting a better stash so I might have to get a binder for them.

I only have 2 or 3 stencils. I never got into that. Not my thing.

I only 3 so far but I love them for distress oxide ink blended background for cards. I pretty much do the same thing I do with my stamp sets. I slice the right hand side seam off the packaging so I can get into them more easily (I hate ripping open the sticky closure on the original packaging) and then store them upright or lying on their left side in a box so I can rifle through them (like index cards, if that makes sense). As it turned out though only one of my stencils had packaging I could do that with so for now I have the other two slipped in the back of the good one with a piece of card between them. If I ever get a big collection I now have lots of good ideas on how to store them. ^^
