My company is throwing an anniversary party and I was wondering if you could give me some unique ideas that your company has done either as gifts for employees or things done at the party or unique ways to advertise the company's anniversary.

One of our locations just celebrated their 35 anniversary. They had a cookout for employees with photo booths and a dunk tank that the executives participated in.

We had a huge group picture taken and it was framed and mounted in the lobby with a metal label notating all employees who were there for that specific time in the company's history.
Additionally, everyone got some token (I believe it was a clock) noting the anniversary.
They also did a time capsule and buried it on the property - they owned the land where our facility was located. In the time capsule it had our annual sale to date, an employee roster and some other fun facts about what was going on in the world when we hit the big 25.
ETA: I forgot - we all received Tshirts marking the anniversary and it had all employees names listed on the back.

You know every time I leave a company I always think I wish my dept did a group picture.
Initially the gift idea was going to be beach towels but then we moved the party date to December.

The radio station I do some freelance work for is celebrating a 73rd anniversary soon (weird anniversary I know but it's for a related reason that they picked this year to go all out). They are seeking anyone born ON the date the station first aired for special recognition and prize packages. The party will feature all the foods that were popular 73 years ago including a candy bar of candies from that era to take home in specially marked commemorative bags.

What about a company mug? I'd drink out of something with the name of the place I worked out much more happily than I'd ever wear a shirt with all of the employee's names all over it. Maybe lapel pins? You can have them custom made and I don't think they cost a whole lot. You could do your company logo and anniversary year/dates. Or instead of lapel pins, just button/badge/flair with the company name/logo/anniversary date on it. I prefer something small like that because it's sort of cute and keepsake-y, without being large and gaudy. I'd never wear a t-shirt with names on it or use a beach towel with company info on it, but I'd keep a mug at work or toss a badge on my desk drawer, and enjoy coming across it on occasion and think, "oh yeah, that was a fun anniversary party".

I like the food from 73 years ago idea! Mugs are good too. Someone threw around the idea of a tie but a lapel pins sounds much better.

What's the company culture (stuffy, corporate, laid back, size?) and what's your budget?

We give our employees gifts when they reach significant anniversaries based on their dates of hire, and we do the lapel pins with small gem stones signifying the years of service. They're crazy expense (gold has been very high the past few years) and people don't wear them.
I think travel coffee mugs, coffee mugs or water bottles would be a popular gift for every one that they would get more use out of. I also like the idea of having a themed party based on what was popular back in the year the company was founded. Have people dress from that era and serve food (jello salads!) from that era, play the music from that year.

This idea isn't really unique to an anniversary, but it's my favorite of all the corporate promo gifts we've ever received. We have a 4-in-1 blanket, embroidered with a company logo. It's fleece on one side, nylon on the other. Folds up into itself and has straps so you can carry it as a backpack. It also has a section in the middle of the blanket that unsnaps into a hood so it can be worn as a poncho. Perfect for sporting events. Made by Towel Specialties.

One of my favorite corporate imprinted gifts was an insulated lunch tote. It looks something like this but better quality. I was just an outside contract person, but I had been there so often, the people passing them out gave one to me anyway. Very nice, very useful, and I've always liked it. Much better than a T-shirt that I'll never wear and mugs aren't unique enough for a special occasion like an anniversary, IMO. This was somewhat unique but very useful.

Without knowing the budget & corporate culture, some of the things DH or I have received at anniversary parties are gym bags, soft-sided cooler bags, lunch bags, flashlight keychain, money clip, golf shirts, golf balls, playing cards, water bottles, coffee mugs, etched drinking glasses, bottle opener, stadium blankets, pens, business card holders, lanyards and lapel pins. At this point, I never want to see another corporate water bottle or coffee mug. DH is constantly getting them from clients & suppliers and is forbidden to bring them home anymore I like the idea of a company photo for anniversaries. DH's company is only 7 years old and has done this every year and it is so cool to see their growth. They also throw a tailgate style party in Dec for the employees and in May for suppliers & clients. They both are huge hits and include roasting a whole pig and lamb on site. They also invite the local mayor, council members, university contacts (they have used business interns the last couple of years) and Representative. I'm surprised how many show up

Honestly, I generally don't care for corporate gifts because it's almost always something I don't want or need and feel obligated to keep. I much prefer the option of choosing something from a catalog or being able to choose a charitable organization to receive a donation. How about having your organization do something together as a volunteer day? Or how about giving people a free day off? We got an extra vacation day one time and that went over VERY well!
Eta: how about a corporate event, like going to a concert or sporting event?

OH, I like the idea of a free vacation day! If that's not an option, how about Amazon gift cards? Everyone can find something they want or need on Amazon! I would rather have a gift certificate for a small dollar amount than another mug or water bottle that will most likely end up collecting dust. Since your party is in December, you could do a white elephant gift exchange where people can "steal" another person's gift. It can be hysterical, we started doing this years ago for our annual party and people talk about it all year long. Then again, we all have a pretty twisted sense of humor.

I wouldn't use them outside of the office (I don't like advertising what business I work for/with).

It's my company's 75th Anniversary. It's a worldwide company, so we can't all come together and do something as a group. So headquarters challenged us all for a [HASH]daytodo - where we pick a day to do something for others, try a new hobby, etc. and document it. Just gives you an idea of what our counterparts all over the world chose. We share our results on our corporate Pinterest page.
Then we'll have a cake / ice cream social in each region later in the year.
One of the most popular gifts we've done is the portable chargers for your phone, or we have cute customized desk calendars that have your name incorporated into the design each month that people love to get every year.

We have flexible hours (as in no one is watching the clock) and the company is closed between Christmas and NYE. We also went to a baseball game this year.

I have a cheap one that doesn't fully charge the phone but once at a conference my co-workers saw mine and went out and bought the same.

My employer has been in business for over 60 years, but we had our first all company holiday party last December. Our party planners found an artist that makes hand-blown glass ornaments. The artist used the company colors in the design, and etched our company name onto the glass. They were beautiful! Each one was unique, and they we very well received. The artist was able to produce over 300 for our party.
Now the challenge is to find a suitable gift for this year's party.

If that's above your price range, I have a few different ones that are decent. Not the best, but not bad. They get me a full charge. Those we get through promotional companies, and you can put a 1-color imprint logo on them. I can try and get the style numbers if you're interested. Send me a message through here if you want more info.

For my 10 year anniversary at a company I received an engraved Montblanc pen. I still have it - is a treasure. I feel pretty fancy when I whip it out to write a check.
