I know I have read on here about a get peas who are Type 1 diabetics and use the Dexcom CGM.
I need advice on how to get the cgm to stay on. We can literally get 2 days out of them. We have the iv 3000s but they don't work on her skin.
Right now we clean with alcohol, allow to air dry. Use an IV prep wipe and allow to dry. Apply sensor.
What are we doing wrong?
Thanks!!!
Dianne

My daughter uses a Dexcom. We use a combo of things. Before she inserts a new sensor, she puts Skin Tac Adhesive on the sensor tape. After that she puts KT tape over the edges of the sensor tape. However she usually has to redo the KT tape every few days.
She used to use Opsite Flexifit tape but for some reason she prefers the KT tape. Anyway she can usually get about 10 days out of a sensor. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
Good luck!

So, she puts the skin tac on the adhesive part of the sensor and not on the skin?
Thank you so much!

So, she puts the skin tac on the adhesive part of the sensor and not on the skin? Thank you so much! Dianne Yes, that's exactly how she does it. It's best to let it dry a bit but she is very inpatient so usually that doesn't happen. Is this for your daughter? How old is she? I know when my dd was between ages 7-11, she was a sweaty, active kid and it was hard to keep her pump sites on. Skin Tac was the only thing that worked and even then if she was swimming or otherwise extra active, we had lots of lost sites. I think hormones are extra wacky with pre-teens and they just sweat so much and it makes it harder for these things to stick. At least that was our experience.
