All of the gorgeous Christmas lines are coming out and while we have a tree that I set up for my husband, we don't do anything else traditionally 'Christmas'. We celebrate Hanukkah in our home with the candles, latkes, donuts, and now that we don't speak to his family, we have Chinese food on Christmas with mine. I feel a bit silly using Christmas papers when Judaism and the Jewish holiday is so important to me- it's like I'm just overlooking my own practice for pretty papers and a pretty religious tradition. Any other Jewish peas have this issue? Any good paper line suggestions?

I'm in the same situation, but I don't know of any Hanukkah themed paper lines. I know I've seen them in the past, and I've bought individual pieces here and there. Honestly though, I've been spending less on themed papers (any theme) and I've been trying to use up what I have in my stash, even if the page ends up being mostly cardstock. But basic geometrics and stripes and dots work fine, and snowflakes, depending on where you live. I'll buy sticker embellishments though; they're usually pretty easy to find. I'll make a lot of embellishments too with stamps, cutouts, etc. I've never done a DD. Hanukkah isn't as big a deal in our house as it might be in other homes, so there isn't enough excitement in the air to go a whole month. Plus, this year and the next, it will fall early enough that college DD will still be away, and youngest DD will have homework every night, so our celebrations will be really low key. And then what would I do to fill a DD for the rest of the month? I have been thinking about a project I'd like to do though. I think it would be nice to make up a small album with my favorite Hanukkah photos over the years. I think everyone would enjoy looking through the pages. I totally get the lure of the Christmas papers though. I wish I had a use for them! I'll look out for any Hanukkah papers though, and I'll link them if I can find any. ETA, not much: Karen Foster Festival of LightsKaren Foster Hanukkah CollageThere are tons of digital papers and elements that you could print off and use for paper scrapping. And if you're not concerned about acid free/ lignin free, you could use gift wrapping paper on your pages. And, look on Etsy too! Another thought, how do you feel about making your own pen and ink designs on cardstock?

I get what you mean about it not really being a month-long album. For me, we will have a baby with her first Hanukkah, I teach religious school and run the holiday programs, and because my husband doesn't see his family anymore we turn Christmas into a less lonely Jewish Christmas for him. I like your ideas of a more winter theme and focusing on geometrics- I'll stick with that!

Congratulations on the new baby! You'll still have plenty of photo opportunities to make a whole album, and not just a mini album! You'd just make it more of a "week in the life" than a DD

Take in as much "ephemera" as you can during that time!
- Greeting cards - food packaging - anything you get during services - mailers
