Does anyone know how the 2017 version compares to the older 2008-ish model?
Is it the exact same, just a rerun?

New version? I didn't know they still made these. I have the older one and it still works fine. I'll have to take a peek at the newer one.

Looks pretty similar to me - they both look about the same size and have the lever you push down to fix it to your table. Not sure about the exact opening size though.

I have the old one, and saw the new one at my LSS yesterday. It looks the same to me, including the size, but I didn't inspect it carefully.

Looks exactly like my dark pink Tagalong. AND it looks like they are having a bigger adapter for the wafer thin dies. Hopefully, they'll sell it and the tiny cutting mats separately sometime soon. Sometimes when I'm cutting small things, the Tagalong fits the bill. I've been worried that I'd break the last mats I have and have to cut down a larger one to fit.
I guess someone needs to call Sizzix and ask, I'm going to try to remember to call tomorrow.

I have a Big Shot, but use the old 3x4" (or some size close to that) to cut smaller dies. It's quicker and there's less cranking than using the 6" wide plates in the BS. I also have a 4x4" Revolution mat that I use as well.

I also have a 4x4" Revolution mat that I use as well. I use a teal Ellison Design (Sizzix) Big Shot and a few months ago, I was gifted a black SU Big Shot and I still have a pink and a purple AccuCut Zip'eMate. Luckily, all of the machines use the same thickness of clear cutting mat. I used to use my tiny Ellison Design Tagalong(Sidekick) plates with my bigger machines but they broke so easy in both the Tagalong and Big Shot as does my Big Shot/Big Kick plates. All the AccuCut clear (NOT the purple soft) cutting mats that I have are much tougher than the Sizzix plates. I hope they still are. I mainly use my 5x6 AccuCut cutting mats on TOP and the regular Big Shot mats on the bottom unless I need the bigger size. That way, not as many turns and I have the top mat back section over the die so that the mat is already mostly through the machine. I use the Tagalong mostly to cut the long decorative strips because I never bought the extended cutting mats for the Big Shot. I prefer to cut the XL Bigz dies with my AccuCut Baby GrandeMark because I don't have to cut the paper down like I have to, to go through the Big Shot. I've just been cutting a lot of tiny dies lately and actually even used my QK Blue Squeeze last week for the first time in forever! I was thinking I need to start using the Tagalong more to cut little pieces while sitting in front of the TV.
