Reading, photography and a bit of gardening. I need to get off my computer and do more of them. I like to knit but I am not good with gauge so now do simple things and there are only so many scarves someone in so cal can wear. I was knitting dish clothes to try new stitches but I don't really like using them so stopped.
I need to do more scrapping to.

Oh I love our chickens! We have had some for almost 2 years now. It's great because we have a few broody hens and they have hatched a lot of chicks this year. We have a turkey this year too, and she/he? is a hoot The kids can't wait until we let them hatch a few of the chicks next year. We have a bantam rooster, and he's adorable because he's so small compared to the ladies, but he's a hoot to watch round them up in the evening. We got 2 turkey's last week. They aren't nearly as responsive as the chickens. I need to spend more time with them. It makes me happy to see another chicken owner, as I think only another chicken owner can really understand chicken fever you get. We have close to 20. They are great, we have had them hatching so many eggs we had to buy eggs from the store to eat lol. They follow me to the mailbox, it's hilarious .

Try not to get bored reading this!
--I sew historically inspired garb for live action role play and living history. I am getting ready with my husband to resume living history at a local Rev War museum where I will start spinning (fiber) which I have not done for a long time. I have a huge collection of books about historical costume and clothing.
--I love American folk art and portraiture. I like to paint folk art and repurpose items with folk art/primitive style scenes that I paint.
--I collect antique and vintage Christmas items, particularly ornaments. While I no longer add to the collection I had for several years done a museum display of trees decorated with ornaments from 1860 to 1960.
--I collect dolls, mostly bride dolls and most recently I began to collect some Nicol Sayre folk art inspired dolls.
Based on the above I would say that obviously I am mostly a collector. I have many other smaller and a bit unusual collections, like old 19th century photos/tintypes/carte de visites
--I love genealogy and I spend lots of time on Ancestry.com and Newspapers.com.
--I adore the beach at the ocean. I am obsessed with waves and the shore. I cannot be near the ocean without wanting to be in the waves. I will get in them in the very cold winter when I'm risking total frost bite. I am actually fearful of the ocean so I can't be in it above my head. I just love to be there - the salt air, the breeze, the shoreline, the shells, the sand and most of all the waves that mesmerize me thinking that a wave will never ever occur in the same way. Many things in nature are like this but waves are what capture my mind.
--I'm an avid reader of fluff books like Danielle Steele and Elin Hilderbrand. I like historically based fiction and non fiction.
--I guess that is enough for now.

I go to some civil war re-enactments too which I just love the old military uniforms. I forgot to mention I love old war memorabilia as well as antique salt shakers, bottles and crocks (1860's era). My first husband had a vast collection which he chose not to share in the divorce ._. but I got a few items. My favorite of his was an old Civil War belt buckle with the eagles and arrows. It was an amazing find, of course I didn't end up with that lol. I also rescue old quilts when I see them at yard sales when I can. My health the last few years has put a damper on my hobbies, but hey I'm still young, I will get better

My job and commute eat up way too much of my time!
I do like to scrapbook, read, waste time here (of course!), and putter around the house.
I would like to bike ride and learn to quilt when I retire.

Thank you! I love knowing we are kindred spirits! pas2: I got these off my husband's facebook: First is 17th c Jamestown, 2nd is 18th c Rev War Yorktown and last is American Civil War Burkittsville, MD. I made the 3 girl outfits and I think the middle man's shirt.

myboysnme you did a terrific job on those costumes, I'd love to wear the civil war dress! I also love the fuller white Christmas tree, I bought a silver one that I can't wait to put up.

Nail polish is something I am always sourcing. I like to think that I curate a very nice collection of quirky printed vintage inspired dresses. I collect brooches but the newer resin and acrylic kinds such as Erstwilder. I op shop (thrift store) and am always on the look out for small ceramic animals, printed pyrex, glass genie bottles, tea cups, European pottery, depression glass bowls etc. I like shopping and collecting things it would seem.
