So last night I watched some Shimelle videos while I cut into my scrap drawer.
When my drawer gets full, or about every 6 months, I take every thing out and cut it into 6x6, 6x4, 4x4 or 3x4 cards. I use them for pocket pages all the time and it gets my scraps used up.
What do you do with scraps?

That's a great idea! I have lots of 2x12 strips and I never know what to do w/them.

My scrap basket is full. I need to organize them and use them up on some pages

I stamp and cut, or just diecut, them into journaling spots. Then I keep them all in a Ziploc bag on my desk, and just reach for them easy peasy.

I actually use my scraps fairly regularly. I'll go through phases where I'll start every page with a sheet of cardstock and my scraps and whenever I'm looking for "something red" in my paper mix I'll head to my scraps drawer before I cut into a fresh sheet.

I only buy what I need for a specific project- 2 sheets of 8-10 patterned papers, alpha stickers, wood veneer, some stickers, etc. and use only that along with the basics like adhesive for my album even if it's a 2017 or a vacation mini- so when I'm done, if it's something that's really used up or just scrap, I put it aside for my craft night and any of the women there can use it freely.

I have mine separated into color and pattern. I use them when I do layering and they're great for die cutting. I don't have an exact measurement but when I think they're too small to be useful they go into the trash.

I cut them into squares and rectangles that are easy to use for cards, die-cutting into page accents, whatever.

I have a scrap basket. Cardstock and pattern paper are separated by color in 8.5x11 page protectors. When it gets annoying sorting through one, I throw things away. I know I have very small pieces, but I have manual die cuts that still work. Sometimes I will punch out basic shapes too.

I have 3 scrap drawers for solid cardstock. I go to that first, so they never get full.
I have another drawer for patterned paper. I also cut small pieces into 3x4 and 4x6 for pocket pages.

I ended up getting rid of my scrap pile. I just didn't use it.

I use more of my scraps when they are on top of my scrap counter in full view. Have them sorted by colour in clear bags.

I always search through my scrap bin before I cut into a new sheet.

I have a 'scrap system" lol.
long, thin strips go in a glass. I use these most often than any other "scrap".
small pieces, that would be good for punches go in a ziplock bag in my punches drawer.
very large pieces go back in the same folder as the paper it matches (anything like 1/2 a sheet or better)
then, medium sized pieces all go in one basket ( kinda a mail holder basket) and I search there first for photo mats, card fronts etc.
I am not a good purger at all lol even for scraps

I put larger scraps back with the collection or color or theme of the paper.
Smaller scraps go into a drawer separated by color and with multi-color having their own spot. When I need a piece for layering or a piece to cut for a page I'm working on, I tend to go there first. I also grab out the neutrals for testing of stamps and inks too.
Sometimes, if I feel it's getting too full, I just pull out the drawer and create a page just with the scraps.

I have started to toss my scraps. I have a box full of them that I tried to use for awhile and now I am down to orange and green pretty much. That entire box is going in the trash. Now when I am scrapping I pretty much toss anything that isn't at least half a piece of paper.

Am I the only one who was inspired by this thread to work on their scrap pile?
I ran a bunch through the Zipemate to make journal spots, plus stamped a bunch to make a different shape journal spot.
I have a ton more to go through, but I'm getting there.
Also, the cheaper patterned paper that is one sided, leaving one side white, I'm stamping on that side to use the white.
This also gives me a change to pull out all my favorite scraps of Basic Grey and such, to hoard in another spot to actually use on layouts.

I'm thinking I'm going to run my next set of scraps through the silhouette to create journaling spots and labels!

I have an iris case that I throw all my scraps in while I'm working. Last week I gradually sorted through all my scraps. Anything the size of a card front or larger went back into the case. I trimmed off any straight strip that I could (for a couple of Jennifer Mcguire inspired cards). Anything smaller I used my punches on. Starting with the biggest to the tiny ones. Then sorted them into baggies by shape. I'm challenging myself to get a minimum of 10 cards made from scraps and maybe a couple of layouts. Not that I have a shortage of paper but I hate waste.

I keep mine with collections or kits until I am done using the kit/collection. I keep my kits/collections in plastic bags.
Once I am done with that, I have two scrap boxes-one for smaller scraps and one for larger ones. I only keep the ones I really like. I use the scrap bin to make my own embellishments.

Okay, so I went through ALL of my scraps.
3 two gallon bags full.
Now I have all my specific holiday scraps in one bag (the very least full).
All cardstock scraps in the second.
And all my favorite pattern paper scraps in the third.
I have quite a bit that I still need to make into journaling spots, but at least they are separate from everything else.

My scrap bin is overflowing right now and I want to get it under control. So, I am going to sort them into coordinating piles and use them as my jumping off point for layouts for a while. Anything that doesn't make it to the page will get tossed.

I separate my small scraps into color groups (like all reds together) and then usually end up making a striped border or a banner or something. I need ideas! And not flowers! Anyone remember "serendipity squares" from when everyone bought their first square punch? I need to make one of those pages.

Lol, I'm on a scraps using roll. I made a layout with all scraps, except for the background cardstock.
I even used one of the journaling spots I made earlier. 😀

I've used plain white cardstock and diecut into various shapes to be used for stamping images onto, but never thought to translate the same idea for scrapbooking. Thank you for sharing!

I cut larger scraps into rectangles immediately & store them in letter trays on my project table (one holds patterned & the other solid scraps), which I consult first before searching paper holders. Smaller scraps gather in a wide bowl on my desk & are punched or diecut in shapes or alphas periodically & sorted into a divided Artbin case. Please consider donating, rather than tossing or recycling, your scraps to daycares, preschools, church children's ministries, etc. They will likely become a part of many treasured projects hanging on refrigerators in homes throughout your community. ETA: That's a great idea! I have lots of 2x12 strips and I never know what to do w/them. Perhaps use them as border strips or align six of them vertically, horizontally, or in a basketweave pattern to create a 12x12 background.

My scrap bin is out of control. When I get home from vacation I need to make tidying up my scrap space a priority!
I've been watching a ton of Shimelle videos lately and she is super inspiring!

Anything small, I will use for my punches or Cuttlebug, but I am going to coordinate them to use for some pages. Thanks for the idea!
