I don't mean on an 18 year old. I mean like 30-40 I've noticed in more and more lately. Peeks of different colors. I recently did like a cherry color on the underneath of my normally dark blonde hair. Could see it peeking out when I wore it down or a lot if I wore it up (which I rarely do) Anyone else done it?

My aunt (in her late 40s) did it and it looked AWESOME. I also see it a lot in my workplace, in the 30 something crowd. I think it's awesome that people are showing their individuality instead of being boring and the same as everyone else.
I'm not really sure why it would be an issue, it's just fun colour. I guess the only time it would be a problem is for stick in the mud militant offices who have stupid dress codes that make dressing boring and uncomfortable instead of allowing individuality.

Done it. Full on fun colors or just steaks. I love it and don't care what others think. Lol. But I always get tons of compliments when I do it.

I agree about not wanting it to be boring. A temporary way to spice things up! Trying to decide what color to do next

I had my hairdresser once add in some purple to the back of my blond hair. Whatever it was, it didn't last very long. I liked that it wasn't permanent and I had the color for about a week.

In my early 30's I did it a lot. I was living close to my SIL who owned a salon and she would do it for me cheap. I mostly stuck with pink as my hair was light blond at the time. I did darker red a few times. I really loved it and had fun with it. It doesn't last nearly long enough I think.
But now at 40 I've gone more conservative with my hair. It's dark brown now. Sometimes I miss my more carefree ways.

I think it's cute, but I haven't seen any older ladies with the peek a boos yet.

my sister (in her 40s) dyed her hair pink the last time she had it done. Not something I would do, but it fits her personality.

I'm 39 and I've done blue, pink and purple and I have an appointment in a few weeks to do the full blown purple. The pink faded a bunch, but the purple held up really well when I did it two years ago. Life's too short to have boring hair And it's just color, I can change it at any time.

i have 2 jobs- my day job is in the chemistry department at a factory. tho i'm not really in a public role representing the company, i do interact with a lot of convervative people and no one has ever had an issue that they've made known. and they don't hide me somewhere when tours or vendors or clients come thru lol. my other job is graphic design, i make wedding invitations and other paper goods. that one is my own business, the boss doesn't care what i do. ETA usually i just have portions of my hair colored alternatively. but last summer i really wanted to do a whole-head color, and did purple. my boys loved it, so now it's an annual summer thing- this summer they picked blue.

As for employers, it definitely depends on the corporate culture and their customers and what image they would want to present. Some would allow it and others wouldn't like it. I doubt someone wanting to do this type of hair coloring would want to work at a more stifled culture for many other reasons, not just their hair policy.

I've thought about doing it. Just a little streak somewhere on my head. Wasn't sure what I'd go for though. Reds fade too quickly. Maybe some kind of purple or blue.

I mostly see teens and people in their twenties doing this around here but there are a few older people I have noticed getting some streaks of color. At first I thought it was weird for older people but I got use to it and figure if it makes you happy go for it. I don't think I would ever do it myself though.

I prefer my natural color. I wouldn't mind the temporary streaks, but I wouldn't want a bright solid color. A few of my FB friends are going grey/white gracefully. I won't be doing that either. I've already warned my stylist that she's going to have to match my natural hair color before I get more white. Just my preference. I say do what makes you happy.

I think to each their own. I used to freak out if I walked in an office and saw a professional person with hot pink hair, but not anymore. People are doing it in ways that is more subtle for the office and I think we are fading away from the days where companies put limitations on hair color in their dress code. My cousin is a stylist and every time I see her, her hair is a different color; she is our own Rainbow Brite

My hair is ombre dark brown to purple. I get lots of compliments on it. <---- older photo. I'd love to see a picture of that. That's what I was considering doing (but with a base color of a violet red brown to purple ombre) but I'm also considering coloring the entire underlayer (say from the top of my ears down) purple and leaving the top of my head violet red brown.

The retail store where I work has an attached salon. A while back they were putting chalk streaks in your hair if you wanted. I had a light pink streak in my light blond hair and I loved it !!! I bought a container of the color, but have been too afraid to do it myself.
I am 63 going on 12.

BlueTulip...I adore your hair! I've been meaning to say that.
I love colored streaks. I do think I'm too old, 56. But, once I am even older, think 70 or more, I am totally going white with a pink streak.

I have lots of platinum (silver or gray) streaks in my hair so I color with a few shades lighter than my natural color so it looks like highlights.

I would LOVE to, but I can't due to my job. However, if I get the job I'm applying for, I will definitely add a streak underneath of a different color. I love it.

Every summer, I do some sort of color underneath as a peek a boo type thing. I'm 41 and love it. I let my boys blind fold me while they pick the color. This summer is the first that I was not able to do the color. I was just to sick to deal with the smell and wasn't getting out much, even though I was recovering well from my sickness. I think NOT coloring my hair scared the boys, so I have an appt soon. We'll see what color they go with. With my job it can only be underneath layers, but that's still enough with my long hair.
Here I am with Purple peek a boo. I was at Mayo clinic being treated and their grounds were awesome to allow nice strolls for a bit .
