If anyone understand what I'm about to say, it will be my scrapping peas. Do you ever do things or buy things that you may not have if you weren't a scrapper? I'll give you an example. For the past few years, I've bought my sons birthday shirts. Some have the number on them. Some say "Birthday Boy!" I know I would never have done it if I wasn't a scrapper. But I love how the layouts come out. (And to be fair, the shirts aren't expensive. Usually about $4) And talking about shirts, I also sometimes buy St. Patrick's Day tee shirts. Or red shirts for Valentine's Day. Especially if the school will let them have a dress down day and wear them. Another example. This summer has been the year of the pool and pool toys. And water balloons. LOL. I was blessed by my mom who gave us Bunch a Balloon knock offs she bought from the flea market for $1 a pack (because I'm not ready to drop $12 for Bunch a Balloons at the store). I have been taking so many fun photos of it all. Summer pool layouts are one of my favorite to scrapbook. So, do you ever go the extra mile because it will make the photos in your layouts look great?

Of course! It's part of the fun.

Are we talking like coordinating the whole family's outfits? Not that I would do that.... I do TRY to not be matchy, like we all have the same blue polo. But I will stay in a color scheme that works well together if there is an event we have to attend. You know, a color scheme that I would scrap with. When the kids were little, I might have been known to do an activity because a paper or stamp would work perfectly with it.

It's entirely possible that I persuaded my 2 year old to be a pirate for Halloween because I got OA's pirate line in my warehouse box...

I don't-my scrapbook pages are a look into what my life was/is like. I don't "stage" my photos.
This is not a knock on those of you that "go the extra mile" It's not my style.

Of course! When we went to Hawaii, I insisted no one wear any dark colored shirts/blouses. There was only 3 of us adults, and all complied without caring or rolling their eyes.

I don't. Maybe my photos suffer for it. Planning ahead (for anything) just isn't my forte.

Definitely yes. I have some shark leggings and am planning to get that shark paper to do a layout. And that's only one example. LOL.

Not as a rule, but if I get an opportunity to take my dgk's on an adventure, I admit to already thinking how I will scrap it before we even leave ! I thought when I saw the title about physically going the extra mile: I have climbed a sledding hill, then crawled down the other side just to get the "best" photos of the kids sledding. I have climbed a hiking hill (and I don't hike) to get shots of the kids on top of it. I have driven to the end of a route to get the finishers. Also admit to posing people for scrapbook shots: getting the kids to spell their names--and other words-- with their bodies, stacking people up on a slide--or on each other--for a group shot, getting kids to lie on the floor with their heads together so I can stand on a chair and get a shot of them from above... I HAVE purchased Canada Day shirts for the kids who will join us for the holiday, but I think I would do that anyway? And we ordered matching tees for everyone for the family reunion, but again, not for the photos so much as for a keep sake.

My purposeful manipulations for scrapbook photos have almost ceased since I have older teens. Now I take what I can get and like it!

I used to but not so much any more. It's hard when your kid gets to be a teenager. The closest was buying the shark paper because I hope to make it to a couple of aquariums in the next few months. They are also pushing me to go which isn't a bad thing.

I posted this before but I brought my daughter to Starbucks to get pics I could use with a coffee scrapbook line. I was also bummed when we couldn't get the Unicorn drink they had because I would have loved to be able to use some Unicorn embellishments.
Also scrapbooking has made me very aware of the background behind the people in my photos. I laugh to myself at some of my Facebook friends who post pictures of their kids with a messy house behind them. It's not like I am so neat, I just make sure my mess is not in the background of my pictures.

I've definitely purchased clothing to match occasions, but never just for the sake of the photos. It does turn out nice for the photos, though! My kids always have something green for St. paddy's Day, but that's because one simply cannot attend the parades in any other color! And in the summer I love nautical type motifs for my kids when they are little, even if they actually look odd in say, zoo pictures or something. I don't tend to buy zoo animal motifs, even if a zoo trip is planned.

I did get us all "attraction" t-shirts from the Disney "March Madness" t-shirt line in 2015. It made a really really cute castle photo at Magic Kingdom...and that is the last time all four of us and just the four of us went, so I'm glad I made it special.
I don't do it regularly and anymore just getting a photo seems to be the challenge - much less planning for it. Vacations probably lend themselves more to this when your kiddos have sprouted their wings.
