Do you use supplies that you feel meh about? Can you use supplies that you don't like?
Scrapping flows for me when I have supplies that I love with lots of embellishment choices even though I don't do a lot of embellishing. I can use supplies that I just like with no problem. But if I force myself to use supplies I don't like I never, ever like those layouts. I can even sense that I'm not putting that much effort into being creative about making it work as I'm actually scrapping. In fact, one particular layout comes to mind right now. Ugh! I still hate it.

At this point, I think I like or love just about everything in my stash since I've become fairly ruthless about purging. But I'm with you...the layouts where I used things I don't like look tortured and overworked.

If I had to love it I would rarely scrap anything. As a theme scrapper as long as it works with my photos I'm going to use it. Don't get me wrong, I like lots and lots of my product/supplies but I will use product I don't even like that much if it is the thing to work on my pages.

I have to love it. That's why I stopped my kit clubs and stopped buying mystery boxes(most of the time lol). I was forcing myself to use things I don't love but had bought. I did a big purge in my craft room, and now I truly love the things I have.

I don't have to absolutely love it but I've definitely cleared out some stuff I didn't like any more or couldn't see myself using.

As long as I like the layout when it is finished, I'm ok . I used some pp today that I really didn't care for, but it worked for the pic. Then other stuff that I really love, doesn't work for anything sometimes.

Have to love it otherwise the layout will definitely be redone sometime down the road. I won't buy anything I don't love and if I've got stuff in my stash that doesn't measure up, I'll use it on a card or give it away.

I've surprised myself many times by thinking I didn't like something and would never use it and then it turns out to be just the right thing...
I'm currently trying to find a use for some vintage super grungy Tim Holtz holiday paper that was a gift a few years ago... I don't even think I can make myself use it on cards it's so dark and smudgy... it might be going into the donate pile very soon. Then again tomorrow I could decide to scrap about an evil Easter bunny or something and it will be perfect...

I don't think there's much in my stash I don't care for. There might be things that are uninspiring, but eventually it'll come back around to me. I do a fairly okay job at getting rid of supplies that are now out of touch with the memories I have to work with. Like, elementary school, I'm done with all of that, so I got rid of it. I no longer need to work with winter as a huge theme (XDH was a snowmobiling fanatic). Stuff like that. I try to keep my stash current to life, and then use it when I have it. I Ike's it once, or I wouldn't have bought it, so I use it

For the most part, I agree with you that you have to love it. But I've taken part in a couple of challenges to use the unloved items and I've surprised myself with how much I liked the finished layouts. Sometimes looking at an old something with new eyes will work for you.

Guess the best I can respond is it depends... I can love a set of supplies one day and find absolutely no use for it the next. Or love something so much I am afraid to use it today in case I need it for a better project later. A collection may not speak to me at all until I see its possibilities on a blog or Pinterest.
I might go to bed hating a LO I have in progress and wake up full of ideas on what to do to revive it. I can tame a wild pp by putting it behind a plainer one. Or recolour a blah one with sprays or inks or paint. Or diecut some shapes or grab some premodern embellishments, and everything works.

I had a lot of stuff I really didn't like. It came from raffles, goodie bags, and leftovers from classes I took. I kept telling myself I could use it in small amounts on layouts because after all it was free, right? Wrong. I never wanted to use any of it and it was first to go when I did my first major purge. Now I only keep what I love. Even those one or two sheets I don't like on a paper pad are tossed in my give away bin.

No, I don't use items I feel "meh" about. I have to like everything I put in my books. I think that is one of the big reasons I tend to make a lot of items so I actually like them, lol.

I won't buy anything I don't love and if I've got stuff in my stash that doesn't measure up, I'll use it on a card or give it away. Haha! That is what I have been doing too! Making cards using the lesser loved/haven't used in forever/out of style items in my stash. My absolute faves, I cannot part with so they stay in my albums WITH ME where I can enjoy them FOREVER (now I feel like some creep on Criminal Minds). I start with a pack of embellishments, pick out matchng papers, and make a few cards OR start with old PP or cardstock and make my own embellishments to match. I have just recently started making cards and fallen behind on PL and layouts bc they just got to be too monotonous for me. Also, making cards makes me feel like I can save money (justify my scrappy spending), one little card at a time. And I hope to be able to use up some of my Christmas stash bc I canNOT control myself when it is time to get prepped for December Daily.

I try not to keep supplies I'm indifferent about. I've certainly challenged myself to use papers I've received as gifts from people I really care about as it's important for them to see I'm using the gift and I've created some pages I really love doing this. But I'm not afraid to toss embellishments I don't love or don't think I'll ever use and I use all the unloved paper as scratch paper.

Yes and no. I just did a really big purge and got rid of anything that I know I would never use and I mostly love all of the stuff in my stash but there are a few things floating around in multi packs or paper collections that maybe I am not 100% sold on. These are the things that I love to use for layering, matting or putting in a cluster, if it is grouped with other things it can sometimes work like magic on a layout.

Like Elsabelle and streetscrapper said, I end up hating the layout if I try to force using something, especially paper.

I absolutely have to love my supplies to put it on a project. I don't have any supplies that i dont absolutely love anyway. If i didn't love something, then i don't get using it on a project just to use it up, otherwise i wouldn't love my finished project.

No, if I absolutely love it I seem to hoard it for the perfect layout. So I prefer to like something, as then I'm less precious about it and will just use it up.
I have some Studio Calico rubber hearts that I freaking love and have been saving for ages for 'that' layout. I can't see myself using them in the foreseeable future!
I never use supplies I don't like though. I purge about every six months and anything I can't see myself using gets given away.

I don't know about loving it, but I have to like it at least a little. Or remember why I liked it and bought it in the first place.
There are things I like in my scraproom I haven't touched. Not because of my feelings for it, just the volume of things I have.
It's more a volume thing. I'll get to all the things eventually. Or I won't. I'm trying not to stress over that kind of thing. That makes my scrappy life happier and better.

I can relate to this. What helps me is putting the less inspiring items with other products I love together on one layout. If it has too many of the meh items I wouldn't like it, but I can deal with it if there are just a couple mixed in.

I've surprised myself many times by thinking I didn't like something and would never use it and then it turns out to be just the right thing... OMG, yes. Several times I look at a paper in a paper pad and think, "I would never use that." And then it's the first paper from the pad I use. I don't understand it, but it's common for me.

If I don't like something I purge it. I have too much stuff. I don't love everything but have to like it. If I don't think I will use something it gets purged.

I need to like the supplies for them to work on my layout.
Like you, I won't like my layout if I use things that I don't like.
It's like cooking. Would you use ingredients in a soup that you really didn't like? Nope, because every spoonful you took would remind you how much you don't like it.

Do you use supplies that you feel meh about? yes Can you use supplies that you don't like? sometimes, if I use it in small amounts.
I don't aim for perfection in my pages, so I don't have to love them.
