I am picky but not literal. Some of my choices probably don't make sense to others and they would see them as not matching the theme but they make sense to me. For example, I would use flamingos on a summer page because they remind me of flamingo lawn ornaments.

As I type, I am watching a scrappie youtuber using a kit she put together. I am not feeling well, but I am pretty sure she put the kit together before picking the picture. The kit is predominately pink so she has a flamingo in it. The layout is about reaching a mountain summit. That flamingo is traveling all over her desk and.....fast forward.....it didn't make the layout. I've watched a few of her videos and from what I've seen she builds her page kits in bulk then comes through and chooses photos to add to them. While the process clearly works for her I could never do it this way because what if I need that flamingo for another page? How would I ever find it? I build kits of paper and use collections and club kits as my base. I then print my photos with the more story related journaling and pair the stories with the kit that feels most appropriate to the story. I started doing this last year and am loving the "batch" style. Having said that, I still want my embellishments and papers to help tell the story. So if I know there is an embellishment that really works with a story in my stash I will pull it and put it into the kit with the story. Otherwise I add embellishments as I make my page and grab from my stash. The embellishing is my favorite part!

I try to use things but some icons are just too weird. Also ...as I am in Australia...a lot of the winter themed stuff is irrelevant. It doesn't snow here ever...so can't use anything snow themed at all.Visited snow once with my kids when they were little but that does not translate to much stuff for a couple of layouts. Also......I HATE the cheesy sayings I often joked to my kids as they were growing up that the Live Love Laugh should be Scream, Cry, Throw Things. They were quite loud and all boy.

...In short, I very rarely used anything. Clean and simple! >.< Ditto. Given my pages using matching/coordinating themed supplies look like the work of an exhausted young toddler in the midst of a tantrum, I definitely cannot pull off the icon mishmash that seems to define current 'designer' layouts. I love alphas & journaling, so the word embellishments are easier for me to use creatively.

For example, I would use flamingos on a summer page because they remind me of flamingo lawn ornaments. I think this is were I fall as well. There is often a "feel" I am trying to give my page and sometimes an item adds to that feel without being directly related to the layout. Like I used a 70's looking owl on a birthday page from the 70's because it added to the vintage feel of the page. I used deer diecut on other childhood layout because I had a dress with a deer on it from that time period - even though I did not mention it in the journaling and it was not in the pic it just felt right. I too would use flamingo's on a summery page, a page about an ice-cream or yogurt outing, of course my husband has flamingo's in our yard so I could use it for that.

I am a matchy matchy, literal person for sure. I don't get when there is clashing patterns or when there is patterns or embellishments that have nothing to do with the story or photos. Me too!

I used to be a lot more insistent on matching but I've eased up a bit on that. Now I will use images even if they don't seem to go with the picture I'm scrapping. I am less able to do this with words--they generally do need to work. I remember watching one process video where a scrapper used "best ever" on a page about cupcakes but she said (and journaled) that the cupcakes were only meh. I don't quite get this. LOL.

I'm not picky at all. If it's visually appealing to me, I use it.
Now I did recently make a page of my daughters new socks using paige Evans sock die cuts from her most recent line and it was pure accident that I pulled those socks out of my die cut basket. I really don't know what all I have! But it was fun to actually make a page that made sense!

Sometimes I wish I could be more free in my scrapbooking. I watched one of that You Tubers videos where she uses a "Girl Boss" embellishment and a pink and purple girly butterflies embellishment on a rustic hiking layout and it made me feel OCD and I had to turn it off. LOL

I am laid back. Since flamingo's have been used as an example I will go with that. No, I am not going to use a flamingo unless it fits the page. I love birds so I might use a flamingo on a page about birds. I might use a flamingo background page for a Summer theme. Once again that is because I love flamingo's.
I have to do a lot of pages where themes are hard to fit for the supplies I can buy in the scrap industry. I can be very literal in other areas of my life but I have learned to be flexible when it comes to scrap supplies or I wouldn't be able to find things and not be able to scrap.

im pretty picky...it has to be relevant. I am a pretty literal person. Me too. Word stickers have to make sense for me to use them. Sometimes random images can be used, if the color is right on, but then it is usually used in a layered cluster, so that the cluster is seen as a whole. I've been known to paint chipboard elements that have phrases that won't work, but I like the shape, so that it matches my layout. For example, if I have a chipboard heart that it hot pink and says "Heart Throb," I'm not likely going to be able to use it. But if I paint it to match my layout, then use a rub on or alpha stickers to decorate it further after the paint dries, the embellishment is more usable to me.

I'm super literal. It has to work together for me or I don't use it. I start w/pix, then paper then embellishments. The paper and embellishments HAVE TO support the story of the pix (for me). That is how I am as well. I have tried dozens of times to have a kit or pre-made page ready to go. They never work out. I wish my mind could work that way as well. Now I will use images even if they don't seem to go with the picture I'm scrapping. I am less able to do this with words--they generally do need to work.Same here. I did a Harry Potter page and I had Halloween word stickers. I couldn't put happy haunting or boo to you. It didn't seem to fit. I could use potions and spells and witches brew.

If there is a tent in the photo I would never use a tent sticker on the page. But I might use it on another camping page where we had stayed in a tent but the tent wasn't in the picture, or something like that. I am the opposite in a way - I will use tent paper, tent sticker, etc if there is a tent in the picture. I might try to fit in as many tents as I can to use them up!
