So I bought a big kick for my birthday and I have been excessively accumulating dies to go with it. It's my newest obsession. I bought 3 art bin cases with approx. 60 magnetic sheets to store them. I was going to put 2 sets per sheet on the magnetic side and then pictures of what the does are on back.
I was also planning on using my label maker to organize the dies by type, i.e. Flowers, birthday, winter, etc. is this a good system? What say the experts?

I know a lot of people organize their dies this way but for me if I can't immediately see what I've got, I forget that I have it and I don't have the patience to go through the box. I adhered magnetic sheet to the inside of my closet doors and store all my dies there. Unfortunately the problem I'm having now is that I've run out of space! I need bigger doors!!

I bought a huge role of adhesive backed magnet from eBay and cut them down (they aren't perfect since a good chunk was done using an exacto knife and a metal ruler because the roll was 2 foot tall and therefore too big for my trimmer for the entire process) and adhered them to chipboard. I use my label maker to label the name of them, if applicable and have them in a basket for easy flipping through.
I like it this way because it's open and easy to access.

I just did a quick video of how I organize my dies. I keep all my general dies (like borders, labels, alphabets, etc) in a single ArtBin case. I used to keep all my dies in it. It was becoming super heavy though and I was having trouble finding what I needed. I put my dies with matching stamps in envelopes together. It's now so easy to locate my stamps and their coordinating dies that my eight year old daughter can go do it on her own. Here's a link to the video if anyone would like to see. I'm rather new to YouTube. Stamp and Die Storage

I have some coordinating dies at the back of stamp pockets but the majority of dies are in a binder stored on magnetic sheets in Martha Stewart secure top pocket pages. Unfortunately I think the pages have been discontinued.

I use magnetic sheets as well. I put them in page protectors and store them in a binder. The sheets I use are magnetic vent covers (Amazon) cut to size. I also have a binder where my die shapes are catalogued by theme. I started doing this with my rubber stamps ages ago when I first started stamping so I can easily look though and see what I want to use.
I do like Jennifer McGuire's method but in my case binders take less space. Plus a lot of my stamps are rubber with sticky cushion attached so they're kind of thick. I store rubber and clear in pages with various sized pockets, mostly used by people who collect sports cards. Not a great method but it's space saving and accommodates all the sizes I've got.

I use these for my stamps and my dies. I just put a piece of vent cover in the envelope for the die to stay put.

I personally wouldn't go with the art bins I use the clear bags from Avery Elle and magnetic sheets with the fridge bin.
I go to a ton of crops and I can easily flip thru the bin and grab what I want to take.
I think those bins would get heavy, and you'd out grow them. Plus a pita if you go to crops.

I also use the bin system. I organized them by type, ie: frames, words, tags, etc

The art bin is good for a few sheets. Once it starts getting full its not good. Dies fall off. Its hard to flip thru. I find them still good for large dies. I really like using vent covers and avery elle type pockets. I bought the simon ones when they were a steal deal..

I think I am going to keep them on the art bins on magnetic sheets but stick them in pockets in the bins. If not I might just keep them on sheets in the pockets and then put them in a storage bin I can flip through

Let me see if I can add a pic.

I cut mag sheets to strips (about 3/4 X 3") and tape a couple of strips to chipboard (cereal box) attach the die and put in a baggie. If it is a set I put them all in the same baggie. I used to use a whole sheet, but I found the strips work just fine for this purpose. If they fall off they aren't going anywhere.

I want to go with these magnetic cards. A friend had them and they seemed stronger than the magnetic vent covers.

scrapaddie Do you think you need to keep them in the pockets? My friend just keeps them in a box, but she scraps at home (doesn't go to crops) so there isn't the concern of dies falling out while she's traveling. The magnets seems pretty strong.
