This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Sorry to be slow posting this. I planned to post right after I took DH to work this a.m., but went back to sleep and then forgot.

Happy August, Pokeys! No worries, nylene! Your dh is back at work? Must mean his eyesight is a lot better, even if you have to drive him. justjac, I am sorry I missed wishing you a happy anniversary last week. Hope your trip to the Mountains is a wonderful break for you two. After dropping off the little boys at the Barrel Racing on Sunday--and watching most of the competition--I arrived home Sunday evening. Monday I picked two 5 gallon buckets full of peas, and spent the afternoon shelling them. Also picked another gallon of raspberries, making the count in my fridge to 4 ice cream pails full. This morning I prepared the berries for freezer jam, and have that all in jars now. Need to clean up the mess in the kitchen--not too bad since I cleaned as I went to avoid juice stains all over--then have to blanche the peas I shelled and let them drain for bagging later today. There are more berries out on the bushes. May go pick some this evening for fresh eating. Tomorrow dh and I are off on another road trip. My mil's sister (aged 90), passed away last week and there is a memorial service on Thursday. Since it is a 4 1/2 hour drive one way, we will drive Wednesday, spend the night in a hotel, and then drive home on Thursday evening. By Friday there will be more peas and berries and who knows what else to deal with in the garden. But I hope to get a little crafting in this weekend. This morning I put together 4 sympathy cards for dh's cousins, whose mother it was who passed away. With Sympathy by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

nylene, so how is Steve doing? And, Good for you! You should get some rest. grammadee, Your sympathy care is beautiful. Strap in ya'll I'm venting about my day yesterday. My last day of July (yesterday) had me up at 4:30 am. I had to pee, and since I had to get up in just over an hour to get ready for my day, I just got up. I was able to upload my 2017 photos from January through May to Sams Club and get them ordered. Hurray. I took care of the chickens and then showered. By 7:30, I realized I was hungry so I made a small bowl of grits. Woke up ds and let him know I was leaving. Forgot that I had to drive super slow with the dogs in tow. Our beagle gets car sick. I only had to pull over once for him to throw up though, so that was an improvement but I'm still a bit late (5 minutes). The dogs were to go to the groomers and then to the vet. Since the vets were all booked, but they needed the grooming appointment, their vet who was doing surgeries yesterday was going to squeeze them in between procedures. I just couldn't be there. The groomers were down one person and the others were splitting up her dogs. I dropped them off at 9. The vet had them down for around 11am. I ran lots of errands and was down to just needing to pick up milk and ice cream at 1pm. So I called the vet to check. They just received the dogs at 12:30. It's going to be awhile. Normally, I drop them off for a grooming or vet procedure and they tell me a couple of hours or late afternoon and I don't even get my errands run before they call. It was way too hot and humid yesterday to go walking, so I went to M's. I hadn't brought a book or anything to kill time with as I hadn't even expected to be in town this long. While I'm in M's a torrential downpour starts. I'm already ready to leave but while away several more minutes waiting for it to ease. Finally I can take it any longer and check out. I bought a book about praying taking from the war room movie and a little devotional and some Bible journaling stamps. I stand outside with another couple of customers who are waiting for the rain to let up. We are against the building and there is easily an 8'-10' covering over the front of the store. The wind picks up and the rain sprays us intermittently. Each of us in turn makes our way back inside the store. A clerk walks past and I quickly ask if they sell umbrellas. She directs me and I get the mother of all umbrellas and head back to the cashier stands. As I round the corner, the rain has slackened. I return the umbrella to the stand and dash for my van. I tend to always park at the ends away from all of the store entrances and bulk of vehicles as I get those extra steps. As I pass the large truck that had obstructed my vehicle from view, I yelped. I had left my passenger and driver side windows down at least 5" as it was so hot. Soaked!!! Luckily in the back I had a thick rag rug that never made it inside after being laundered. I used that on my seat, but my back still became grossly wet as the rug would not cover the bottom of the seat and the back. I then realize that my phone is almost dead. I go buy a charger and head for the library since I know they have the outlets on the tables around the facility that I could use to charge my phone. At 3:40ish I am almost charged, I decide that's good enough and I really should eat lunch. Since I'm sure it's only a matter of minutes left before I'll be able to get the dogs, I decide to go to a grocery store where they have the milk we like. I figure I can just get something there. I'll eat it and wait in the lot. When they call, I can run in for the milk, ice cream and frozen blueberries. I make it to the store, and the vet's office calls. They are in the middle of the procedures. They had an emergency on there side and apologized for the long delay. They tell me I can come get the dogs at 6pm. It's 4pm. I go get something to eat and sit in the car in the parking lot for an hour and a half. I could have gone out to eat, but I was already tired of driving all over town. DD had a bad day, which isn't surprising as it was hot and humid and those days set her off. But Logan did such a fabulous job taking care of her. He made her oatmeal for breakfast. I had made soup the day before and he reheated that for her for both lunch and dinner. He made himself mac and cheese. After I got home, he helped me unload the van, and made me popcorn and closed the chute for the chickens in the evening. He did leave an overflowing pile of dishes in my sink and on my counter, but for as wonderful as he was I didn't say a word and did them this morning. Sorry to share. I know it's a long vent like post. It's funny now, but I was so tired yesterday evening. It's nobodies fault - just one of those days where multiple things don't happen the way they normally do. On to better things.

Hey you all! I hope you are having a nice Tuesday! All is well here. Last Wednesday was the last of the Summer park concerts. We enjoyed it and I am always sad when it ends. This week I start a painting class on Thursdays just for this month. I am looking forward to it.
For a few weeks I have been busy making this wall art. When I go into Hobby Lobby or M's I see some of there art and say to myself, "I can do that!" Well, this was a combo idea of making art and using silk flowers to frame it. It reminds me of how I do my cards too. So this is one of several I made and I have more to make featuring the words "love" and "peace". I plan to sell a few and give a few away like to my mom and mil. So we'll see.
Wall Art by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr
nylene - Thanks for the new thread and keeping us going. I also and glad to hear your dh is back to work. I hope he continues to feel better.
grammadee - You asked about the blue paper flowers I made for my mil's card. I used tissue paper. I die cut several layers in two different sizes on the larger one. Not sure how many individual layers. The size maybe 2 inches for the larger one and I used my scalloped shape Spellbinder's dies.
LisaDV - What a day you had!!!! Venting is good and glad your day worked out in the end. When you mentioned heat and humid weather, I was feeling your pain! LOL! I don't like that weather combo either. Hopefully you got some rest today.

Hi, sweet friends. Thanks for the good wishes for my DH. Actually he has gone to work EVERY day except the day of the eye surgery and the day of the cheek surgery. He couldn't see, but his helper did his normal routine and he just got the crews going. Keeping that man down is next to impossible. He thinks he's enough better that next week he can drive just to work. His vision right now is good enough to drive "in the neighborhood" the Driver's License Div. says. He drove around the corner to church Sunday and said he'd better wait and get rides to work this week. I'm glad he self-restricts! We read scriptures together each evening and he is getting better daily. I can tell it's improving. grammadee, I am sorry for your loss. At age 90 you know the end is coming before too many years. I love your card and am impressed that you got 5 cards done with all the fruit and veggies you have to do. I wish I could come take a few fresh ones off your hands! Be careful on your drive. I hope you have good weather. kellyr21, you have done a beautiful job on that art. I love the bright yellow. It has the beautiful look of your cards and I know you will love it. Do you have a place to sell them? Through your Etsy? Lovely work. LisaDV, what can I say? What a day you have had. I'm sorry you went home wet and tired, but it sounds like everyone survived at home. You have a peach of a husband...even if he left dirty dishes. I hope the rest of your week is perfect!!!

I too am glad to hear that Steve is back to work it sounds promising! @grammdee and kellyr21-both of your works are beautifully done and I left you love in the gallery! LisaDV-you deserve a vent after having a day like that! I would [probaBLY GO HOME AND CLIMB IN THE BED WITHH MY head under the covers! Ok gotta run!

Hello Ladies LisaDV - OMG - you totally deserve a spa day! It is so refreshing though how upbeat you are after that disaster of a day is said and done. I think too many people dwell on those type of things and it brings them down. grammadee - your card is beautiful. I have such a difficult time making sympathy cards, I think I should sit down and make them when there is not an occasion and have them ready, because when I need to extend those sympathetic wishes I just can not create. kellyr21 - Beautiful, Stunning, Gorgeous. I love it. You are so artistic. And of course this one rings my chimes because of all the use of yellow. I just love yellow it is such a cheery color to me. Recipients of your works are very, very lucky indeed. nylene - great news on DH recovery, sounds like all is moving in the right direction. I am planning on creating something, I have been working on organizing my trading card collection which has been sitting in boxes for years. Finally got all the cards logged into an online database, and I am know working on putting them into binders. I am using my scrapbooking supplies to create place holders where I am missing cards from a set. Have a wonderful rest of your day, and see you tomorrow.

maribeth , you are always so organized. I hope you are enjoying the card organizing. I have wanted to get the Distress Oxide inks, but just thought I'd pick up one at a time. Another thread here said that JoAnn's online has free shipping and 50% off inks. So I bought a bunch of them. Can't wait to get them and play with them. I'm working on a double page layout of Cousin camp. Hope to finish later tonight. scrapincin , how are you doing. I hope you are getting some scrappy time. How is your garden?

Good evening! Nice to see you maribeth and your new project sounds interesting! nylene I am trying to do some scrapping! I was trying to do something as my background for my page but it was not working out like I wanted. So going to print my photos and do it another way! Our garden is finally starting to produce. Bob would not plant anything early so it is just starting. I can't wait to see your layout. Your cousin camps are so much fun! grammadee how is your DH feeling after his procedure? Sorry to hear about your loss. I do not know how you keep up with all the traveling and and your garden and preparing food from your garden. Wears me out. Waving a big hi to LisaDV, kellyr21, msliz, @jana and everyone else who visits here!

Thanks for all the cheers on my wall art. maribeth, I love yellow too. It is one of my favorite colors. This week, I hope to do a few more in pinks. I was trying to make a stencil with my Cricut and I need a new cutting mat. So I hope this works out. Odd plant update- Remember I told you about that strange plant with the balloon like spheres on it? Well, they looked like lemon size lanterns when inflated. Well, now they have burst and there is this silky white hair like stuff hanging from each bloom. So weird! LOL! nylene- Yes, I wanted to get my Etsy shop up and running soon. I have a whole collection of items I am trying to get ready including art prints, wall art, tote bags and cards. My plan is to put it all on Etsy or my blog. Waving hi to you all and stay cool!!!

nylene - I have been eyeing those Distress Oxide inks as well. I want both sets that are available and the re-inkers, and they are pricey to get all at once. And I can't justify the expense as I have not been creating lately.....but oh how I want them. Anxious to see what you do with them. Show us projects! kellyr21 - that is a weird plant, isn't nature AMAZING? I hope you can find someone who can identify it. scrapincin - Hello, enjoy the fruits (well vegetables) of your garden. waving hello to justjac , grammadee , @elaynef, msliz , knutschen , LisaDV Have a wonderful Thursday, see you later or in the morning.

kellyr21, I like your new avatar! I left you love the other day on your cheerful wall art -- such pretty colors. I can't believe summer concerts are already over. It doesn't seem possible to be so late already. What type of painting class are you taking - oil, acrylic or watercolor? I'd love to do one of each. nylene, good for you for getting some oxides. I can't wait to see what you create. maribeth, hurray for organizing! You always seems so well organized. Do you have any more camping trips planned this year? scrapincin, it's so frustrating when things aren't working out as you have it planned in your head. I hope you get it worked out. Enjoy your veggies. Thank you all for commiserating with me on my plight of Monday. I knew I could count on your compassion. Tuesday was just making up around the house for missing Monday. (i.e. getting that large pile of dishes washed and put away along with a few other chores). Wednesday I roughly finished organizing my wood stamps into categories and even got all of the Kids/Baby stamps into Evernote. I also put together the scraps of fabric to make a doll quilt for grandniece so it’ll coordinate with her quilt. Today we’re off to the DDS and hopefully afterwards to the eye dr.’s to pick up their glasses. Then we’re going to the library. We will probably go out to eat too. Because of dd’s limitations, we only go to one spot and it’s a bit pricey, but so good. I love it when we can go out all together! So I'm off.

LisaDV - I wish I was more organized, but that is what I am working toward. It is not so much that I am not organized, it is the fact that I have so MANY hobbies it is hard for me to stick to one without getting distracted and going to another in the middle of organizing the one.....So right now I am trying to work on organizing EVERYTHING, hobby, home, office. Then I think it will free me up to create. And yes we do have more camping. We will start again in September, but boss is going to Hawaii for is 40th wedding anniversary so October will be our big month. Then we hope to go camping over Thanksgiving weekend, we usually start doing Holiday Home, but we are not going to do the big decorate this year, just one tree and that is it.

Yesterday I was reorganizing an album called "friends". We had done some family pics through the years for a friend and I took my camera to their wedding and very descretly, I hope, and took some pics. She recently died and their children are still very young. I remembered she had told me her wedding pics were horrible.. the photographer had done a terrible job. I offered to help her with them but she wasn't interested. I pulled all my pics of them out and put them in separate album and will give them to him and the kids in the future. While I was in this process, I found the battery for my old netbook that I had been looking for. One of my grandchildren needs it for a keyboard class..I had given up on finding it. It was behind the albums . So I'm very happy to have that charged up and ready!

Good morning, Peas. Don't you just hate it when you have "one of those days", LisaDV? When retelling them I am never sure if this is the plot for a tragedy or a sit com! nylene you are going to love your Oxides. I have mastered just one technique, but I am happy with it, especially since I have picked up a few more colours so I can get different effects with it. Thanks for asking about dh, scrapincin. The doctors decided to simply do the test and not go on with any treatment plan right now. After sleeping off the freezing and relaxation shot, he was back to normal. Good to hear from you maribeth. With camping and organizing, it sounds like you are keeping yourself super busy as usual. TFS your pages, @elaynef. That is a lovely thing you are planning to do for your friend's family. It is sad to lose a friend or family member, but memories and photos really help. We are back at home as of yesterday evening. I am really glad we decided to split the drive into two days. Wednesday we focused on just getting there and checking into our hotel. We dropped in at the house and visited with dh's cousins. It was really nice really talking with them outside of the flurry of the service and followup the next day. Later we met up with our ds's fil--who lives in that town--for a chat. We had an early night at the hotel. Thursday dh wanted to shop at Canadian Tire, and I noticed immediately there was a Super Store across the parking lot and that they have Kodak photo printing kiosks. So I got the photos of the weekend before printed while he looked at whatever he looks at in big manly box stores. Then we attended the memorial service and got to talk with a number of dh's cousins from different families who attended it. The drive home was 4 1/2 hours, and we added an hour by stopping for supper, but were home by 9:00PM. Had planned to pick peas this morning but since it is raining I plan to do the first step in my cooked jelly process: cleaning and cooking the Nanking cherries. Will prob find jars and pop them into the dishwasher as well. Also have a dr appointment later this afternoon. This morning I put together a quick card for our soon to be 4 dgs, and I will pop it into the mail while in town for my dr appointment. Calling all units! by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

@elaynef, what a thoughtful thing you are doing for your friends. Thanks for sharing your layouts and your story with us. This will be such a blessing to them. Years from now those little children will be grown and will be so appreciative of have the special photos. You are such a dear friend. BTW, congrats on finding the battery! That's the kind of stuff that happens here all the time. Things get "hidden". grammadee, I don't know where you get all your energy! I hope the jelly making goes well and that it stops raining so you can get to your peas. I'm sure it was nice to visit with cousins before the memorial. It seems like that's about the only times extended families get together..weddings and funerals. Your police car card is adorable. I'll go see it up close in the gallery. What technique have you mastered with the Oxides? Mine will be here next week. I'm glad your DH is doing ok. kellyr21, your new avatar is so cute! I love that photo. I guess I should change mine. It was taken when Connor was 5th grade and he graduated from High School in May!! Let us know what kind of painting class you are taking. Is it starting to cool down there? We have local trees already turning orange and brown. maribeth, you ARE organized, I can tell! I hope you can get some crafty things, or some organizing things done so that you can enjoy starting your camping season again in Sept. Are you planning any trips up this far? We have had so many fires around Brian Head that I don't know if it's even open or pretty right now. scrapincin, I'm anxious to see what you are planning on your background. I'm sorry it didn't work out like you thought it should. I'm sure you will figure it out. I still need to finish the stamp block inked cards I made at the Extravaganza. I just need to add the black silhouettes to them. DH drove to the Derm. office, just in the neighborhood today and said he felt very confident. He still has some dark floaters, but they have really diminished so that's good. Our grandson is being married this month and his fiance wants DH to cut another cake topper (Mr&Mrs) in fancy script like he did for Megan's wedding. He went out to work in the shop and says he sees well enough to do it for her. He even worked on a wooden pen he couldn't finish 2 weeks ago. That's really encouraging. Waving to all the Pokeys. I'll be back to chat later.

maribeth , I am constantly wishing not only to be more organized, but that the rest of my household would put things back where they're currently organized. Good luck on the whole organizing plan. I'm so glad you'll have more trips. But I might be romanticizing the whole thing. Also, just one tree this year?? What's up? @elaynef , that is a beautiful page and a wonderful thing that you are doing for the family. I'm sorry for your loss. grammadee , super cute card. Will leave love after this thread post. I'm glad your dh is doing better. Glad your home safe and sound and that your trip went well. nylene , I'm glad Steve is seeing well enough to drive locally, but more importantly work in his shop. I'm sure that was driving him crazy as it would us if we couldn't get into our craft rooms to create, especially when you have "down" time. When does your school start? I just spoke to my niece the other day and they are already starting back August 15th, the kids start a couple of days later, but it seems ridiculously early. Maybe I just feel that way since I usually start my new year between August 1st and 15th and I'm not starting until after labor day this year. We're still working on last year school. All they have left is English and writing though. Gorgeous layout. I like the title. I've had a silhouette for years and I don't think I've ever played with the sketch pens, I guess I'll have to get them out. DD wants to learn to use the sewing machine. She hand sews everything. So I signed her & I up for a sewing class at Joann's in October. It'll be a private class with just us to make comfy pants (which is what dd wanted to make). Yesterday I went to town in the morning to run errands that we didn't have time for the day before, plus no one (the kids don't) want s to go pick up dd's medicines, return recycles, or shop for luggage. However, I did start picking up some new clothes for them both as well and that would have been nice to have them with for that. Today will be the first day in 2 days without rain, so I'm sure Don will have outside projects for us to do. I guess I should go and get my dishes done. I tend to be too tired after dinner to do them so I always seem to do them the next morning. DS actually made cookies after dinner last night so I couldn't get in there anyway. He made a full batch of chocolate chip cookies and cooked them on two pans. The full batch on two pans! Not, I put 12 cookies on this pan and 12 cookies on this pan and when they came out I put a new set of 12 cookies on. He just kept scooping until the pans were full. Yet it still was a cookie and not a bar. Took longer to cook though. lol. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

LisaDV - great it was national chocolate chip cookie day! Did you take photos? you can make a page! Only one tree because hubby just wants to keep is simple this year. It is hard work doing what we do every year, he is getting older (70) and he just really wants a laid back Christmas.

Sad to let some of that Christmas prep go, maribeth. We have a whole corner of our large basement full of Christmas decorations, but I have been cutting back gradually over the last few years. I never did do up Christmas nearly as much as you have, but I have been forced to cut back as well, b/c it is just too physically draining to drag all that stuff up out of the basement and put it into place, and then after the holiday season pack it all up and get it back down into its storage area again. I love my "Christmas house", and normally have it decorated for the season from early December to mid January, so have justified the work I have done, but it is alot. And the last couple of years, dd & family have helped, but since they have moved away this summer I am not sure what else I will have to cut this year. Dh has also cut back on his light displays out front. Used to take up our whole yard and the display now is a border to our small patio out front. LisaDV, I am glad you had a more uneventful trip to town yesterday, even if it was boring. Did your ds leave you a huge mess in the kitchen after his baking? Dd reminded me a couple of weeks ago that our rule used to be that the one who did the cooking had to clean up the kitchen. When the kids were young I used to rotate those jobs, but if the cook was not responsible for cleanup the person following him/her had a disaster to deal with, so I instated the rule that "if you cook, you clean". Amazing what a difference that rule made: do you believe you can use the same measuring cup more than once when baking??? nylene, I left some love for your page in Flickr. I am constantly amazed at how much scrappy goodness you get out of that Silhouette! The only technique I have used with Oxides is to apply two or three colours direct from their pads onto a transparency, spritz with water, then press a sheet of photo paper into it face down. I lift and move the photo paper until I get most of it covered, let it drip if it is wet enough, then let it dry naturally. Once dry, I wipe it with a paper towel. Sometimes I repeat the process with a different couple of colours, but so far I think I prefer the sheets I have done only one step with. I then cut up the photo paper into pieces to use on cards, but I guess they could find a place on a sb page as well. scrapincin, how did your page work out? I find that I get the "best" results when I am simply playing with inks &/or mixed media, wondering "what if I try this". If something works really well, then I use it. But when I am creating a background for a specific project I start with too specific an idea in mind and am not often happy with what I end up with. Hope you found a way to finish your page. It was raining every time I wanted to get out and pick peas yesterday so I decided to leave them until today. And it is still raining. I managed to get some for supper last night, but they really need picking!!! Might need to just plan on getting wet. (and shelling wet peas...) My db called last night and wants me to meet him today at the old house where we grew up and I said I would go. Have to decide soon if I am doing that first and leaving the peas until evening, or picking peas this morning and stuffing them into the fridge until I get back to shell this evening or tomorrow morning. I also have some cooked down juice from my Nanking cherries in that fridge to deal with, but that will keep several days. (We have a fridge in the garage that our kids call a "beer fridge" and I call a "garden fridge". As long as they are not visiting in garden season, it seems to do double duty just fine. Normally on a rainy Saturday I could just retreat into my scraproom for a guiltless day of relaxation and play, but now I have at least two "should's" hanging over my head, so I will probably do at least one of them if not both sometime before I sleep...

Hey Pokeys. You have all been so busy. grammadee I love your card. nylene that page is amazing. Your Sillhouette skills are impressive. @elaynef what a generous thing to do. kellyr21 great card. maribeth I'm working on organizing my craft space, but I have to declutter first. I have over two feet of paper to donate so far. Stamps and ink pads are next. DH and I went to the mountains for five days. We had a great time and I took some awesome photos. Our hotel had no cell service and very spotty wifi which was quite an adjustment. I'm so used to being connected all the time. I was home for a little over a day and then headed to my mom's. It is my uncle and aunt's 60th anniversary lunch today. It is a two hour drive to get there and we wil all be missing my dad. I've made four cards that I hope to upload next week. Have a good weekend.

((((Hugs)))) justjac as you spend the weekend with your family. Hoping shared memories of your dad help you all as you celebrate your aunt & uncle's anniversary. Safe travels. Glad you got your bg to work, scrapincin. Can't wait to see your project. First on my agenda today is pea shelling. After that, I am not sure what else. I might fit in a couple of bd cards somewhere, but before much more creating I really need to do some organizing in here. With little projects done quickly and spaced apart in time and theme, the usual mess has become overwhelming--even for me. It's a chore to find things and when I do there is not much space to work with them. Trouble is that with the limited time I have to do it lately, I want to PLAY, not sort and put away. Hey maribeth: want to bring some of that organizational energy up north? Next weekend is our family reunion, organized by a couple of nieces, and one of the activities they want to do is scrapbooking. Last night I chatted with my dn and offered to bring some supplies and tools and my Sephy printer to the event, which she was delighted to hear. So I guess I will need to do some organizing just to figure out what to pack up for this. We need to chat a bit more to figure out what she envisions for the activity, and what is possible. At one of our reunions, eleven years ago, justjac came and set up a scrapping table for us and we each created a page. I have the original scrapbook, which I had scanned and made into a photobook at Staples. I will be bringing that to the reunion for people to go through.

maribeth , I totally get that. We decorated more thoroughly when we hosted Christmas. Since moving away from his family and my family now travels to the grandbabies, so it's just us here. So it depends upon the year and our plans how decorated we do. I didn't take photos, if only I had known it was national chocolate chip cookie day then! grammadee , I used to have the rotating schedule for clean up, but with dd being sick all the time, it wasn't working out. So I get stuck with it most of the time with DS taken the brunt of the 2nd in command followed way behind by dh. I also have the rule if someone else cooks they have to clean. As everyone else in the house does not know how to clean as you go and seems to dirty 5 pots for a 1 pot item. If Don cooks he usually just makes DS clean. Also, as you could have guessed, when dd feels well enough to cook, she does. However, sometimes she can't even finish and I have to finish and then I get to clean after her. So although I make ds clean 85-90% of the time that he cooks, I'll do it for him the other times to sort of make up for it. He also takes on more than his fair share of chores since dd isn't capable most of the time. - I totally need a garden fridge! First we need to build a garage. Hopefully next year. I love the idea of the scrapbook photo book that you had everyone do at your past reunion. justjac , I think it's wonderful to get away with lack of electronics. And I'm sure your views were well worth the time away from them as well. Hugs to you and your family as you celebrate your Aunt & Uncle's Anniversary and miss your dad. scrapincin , I'm glad you figured out a way to make your page work. Can't wait to see it. I've been working in fits and bits at organizing my space when I get little moments of time. I just figured out how I want to organize my themed embellishments so that's the next organization project after buying the cases. I'm still trying to find the best cases for them. I really want to play with paper, but I still have the sewing machine up and haven't touched it in days. I think I'll take tomorrow afternoon and sew the top of the quilt and then put the whole mess away until October. Off to go do something. Waving hi to everyone. Hope you all enjoy the end of your weekend.

Happy Sunday! Glad you all liked my new avatar. Thought I would use a more recent picture. It has been HOT out here but I am staying cool. We normally don't have humid weather but for the last several weeks it has been. Hopefully whatever is causing it will end soon. (Fingers crossed) We are having a nice weekend. My dh had a day off on Friday and that was fun. I went to HL yesterday and got my Cricut mat. I had gone to M's and they didn't have the size I needed so I was glad HL did. Today was church and then straight home to veg out most of this day. LOL! Oh, my new art class on Thursdays is acrylic painting. It was fun. We painted a night scene with two birds. It was good for me to stretch my skills to learn something new and different. I will share a pic of it this week. The class will go all this month. LisaDV- That is so nice you and your dd will be taking a sewing class. Did you sew in the past? I started a few years ago when my mil gave me her machine. I do want to circle back to it and learn to make something too. Also, your ds is a good cook. Does he cook often? justjac- Your trip sounds like it was relaxing. Glad you were able to get away. Waving hi to you all and will check back soon. Have a restful evening.

LisaDV , I love your new avatar! You are so cute! I hope you and your DD enjoy your sewing class. It sounds like a fun outing together. Do you have an appt yet for the Mayo? justjac , I hope the visit has been OK and that you can reminisce about your dad together. A 60th anniversary sounds wonderful. Not many couples make it that long anymore. scrapincin , I was trying to use my sketch pens for a little project for my Church class. The first one printed fine and then it wouldn't print. I tried everything. Finally rebooted my computer and it worked fine. I decided I'd better make an extra in case we had a visitor. No amount of working could get it to print. I thought I was losing my mind. I never did get it working and sure enough, we had a visitor, but we also had a child absent. So it worked out. I still don't know what was wrong. How's the scrapping going? kellyr21 , your painting class sounds like fun. Is it at Michael's? I noticed that our Michael's has started teaching classes. I don't know where they hold them because they don't seem to have a classroom. grammadee , your family reunion sounds like fun. Doing some scrapping there would be a great idea. Where do you hold it and how many people usually attend? maribeth , you always amaze me with your knowledge of "special days". I didn't make chocolate chip cookies that day, but made a cake with chocolate chips inside. Close enough? Wishing sbartist a Happy Birthday today. Drop by when you get a minute.
