Wow! In the last 24 hours we've had a 3, a 3.5 and a 4.4 earthquake all with an epicenter within a mile of my house. We lost power for a couple of hours w/ the last one. I'm sleeping in my clothes and my shoes are right by my bed. It's hard to believe I'm living in Oklahoma and not California!

I haven't felt any of them today. I had friends posting in BA and Owasso that they felt the 4.2 just before 10pm. They are pretty unsettling though aren't they? Hope all is good for the night.

Earthquakes really are unnerving though. Hopefully they won't get any larger. Do you have earthquake insurance available there?

I didn't have a chance to feel the latest earthquake due to my barking 100 pound dog who until that moment had been calmly resting behind me on the couch.
Ugh, we haven't had daily earthquakes in a while it seemed at least in north OKC. Hope this doesn't mean that's happening again.

I've heard that it is hard to actually get insurance companies to pay earthquake claims here. I had earthquake coverage for about a year until I got a notice in the mail that my insurance company was no longer offering it in the state of Oklahoma earlier this year. ktul.com/news/local/months-after-record-oklahoma-quake-insurance-companies-slow-to-pay-for-damage

We don't have earthquake insurance. It is so expensive and the deductible is very large. However, we may have to rethink that decision. One of our neighbors' chimney collapsed last night during the earthquake.

. One of our neighbors' chimney collapsed last night during the earthquake. Oh no! I imagine damage would be a problem because homes aren't typically built with earthquakes in mind in that area. Hope you got some sleep though.

oh wow! I hadn't heard about these today (haven't had tv on yet). I am in the Texas Panhandle and sometimes we can feel your earthquakes but I haven't felt any of these.

Oh wow I'm surprised we didn't feel them up at the state line. Those are definitely strong enough to be unsettling.

Dang!
Thanks crazy! I live north of you and we have previously felt a few up here in Kansas, but none yesterday.
So very wild and scary! We do have it all in the center of the USA! LOL

I HATE them. They are very unnerving. The one last night at 10:00PM was very scary. We lost power for about an hour. Ugh. I know I was fortunate it was only off for an hour but its scary. I live in NE Edmond about 3 miles directly west of the EPI Center.
I wish they would just STOP!!!

For a while there it was every day, sometimes several in a day. You could even tell when they moved drilling sites, because the epicenters would change.

We had to do a few millions worth of repairs to our historic courthouse building in the past couple of years. The concrete steps/foundation cracked and pieces of plaster moulding were falling off the ceiling.

Ours had slowed down drastically too. Then WHAM two days ago they started up again. I think we had six in 24 hours in Edmond. That one last night at 10PM though, what a doozy!!!

My husband showed me an article in the Washington Post where an Oklahoma Corporation Commission official was quoted as saying there are no disposal wells around the epicenters of the recent quakes around Edmond, but there is a known fault. I'm not sure which makes me more uncomfortable-earthquakes caused by disposal wells or earthquakes occurring naturally.

I'm not sure which makes me more uncomfortable-earthquakes caused by disposal wells or earthquakes occurring naturally. Well darn! I thought there were disposal sites near the general vicinity of the epicenter. I think that bums me out. I'm not sure but I think it was more of a comfort to me that the quakes were "caused" by the wastewater. In my mind if we shut down the wells then the earthquakes slowed down - as they definitely have in recent months - now we are dealing with the naturally occurring faults which for some reason makes me even more uneasy. Now I get that no one knows etc., I am just trying to rationalize it in my head to make me feel better. To top it off, my husband was called out of town suddenly this afternoon and I am worried about another quake tonight!

The disposal site doesn't necessarily have to be all that close to the epicenter. It has a sort of "wave ripple" effect and can pop one off if/when it hits a weak spot. If that makes sense?

I completely understand how you feel!!! It's been that way here too. I would definitely NOT rule out the disposal sites as the overlying cause/trigger, be it what I just commented above, or former wells having weakened the area making it more susceptible.
It took forever to get Topeka on board with the correlation because...you know...big oil. But it got to a point that the science was overwhelming and they had no choice. There's a video out that shows the progression - I'll see if I can find it. Even living it, I was shocked to see it in graph form.
I hope you can relax this evening and get some rest.
