Went to a vintage store today and found a Gaylord Bros 6 drawer library card catalog. And I had a coupon for $5 off! It was only $35 with the coupon. I really really want a full size one, but this one will certainly do! So happy!

Wow, you sure did get a bargain! What do you plan to do with it? I'm always keeping my eyes open for one of these so your find gives me hope that there are still some out there to be had!

Nice score! I'd love one too but they're really hard to find. Plus the full size ones are so expensive if or when they can be tracked down.

That's awesome! I rescued a solid oak 6 drawer card catalog from my FIL's work bench after he passed away. He stored tools in it and it was covered in splattered paint. I stripped it, refinished it, and replaced the hardware as several of the pulls were broken. I LOVE it and it reminds me of him. I'm on the hunt in my travels for a stand to place it on to use it as a side table.

What a beautiful piece, those are super hard to come by! Even this librarian can't find them, lol. I do have a beautiful 45-drawer catalog that I snagged a bunch of years ago, I got super lucky and caught it 10 minutes after it was posted on Craigslist. Mine is full of craft supplies. Enjoy it! Not a library cabinet per se but I got this rustic/primative 44 (43?) drawer paper-size cabinet with drop-down fronts (when you pull fully) at a local resale/antique shop. I stop in sometimes just to wander-look and I saw it and thought it was cool but couldn't afford at the time (divorcing). So I walked. Then sometime later I drove by and just couldn't resist stopping to look. It had been what I thought to be reasonable $400ish and the lady at the desk said the owner had just been in and put a sale tag on it 35% off! I bit and bought. Happy you have-no-one-to-tell-you-no-day to me! I keep copy paper and other 8.5x11's in one end and craft stuff etc throughout. I started labeling with kraft paper in the labelholders but I'm not sure I like. I think I might use old-fashioned black with white letter hand-press Dymo labels. edie3 ETA if you have someone handy maybe they could make a simple stand for you. The one holding this up was made for it by seller. It's a more rustic style but I'd think framing out to size (and covering if wanted) wouldn't be too hard for someone. Just a thought! Enjoy your find, thanks for sharing pictures! (I love this stuff) That is awesome! I am drooling over that. I just saw something similar in the window of a shop in Portland, ME. I couldn't see a price and fortunately they were closed or it may have ended up in DS's apartment nearby until I could get it back home. Not that I need it, mind you. Enjoy filling that baby up! The antique typewriter looks great on there. We have one that DH got from a grandparent. Guests are always trying to woo it away from us! Not going to happen.

Your really did get lucky! I love the library card catalog your scored! Cupcake-oh my-your set is my dream! I adore books and have very fond thoughts of using the card catalog years ago to find books in the library. I still love my local library and go every single week if not more. For that reason to me something like this would be an ultimate find+the storage for my craft room would be amazing I really should start looking around here for one. Thanks for the reminder Edie3 and enjoy yours!

What an awesome find! I have been looking for one for years. My dd is tired of me always pointing out the card catalog in Sheldon and Leonard's apartment whenever we watch The Big Bang Theory!

I love all your card catalogs. I've always wanted one. PLurker I think your cabinet drawers would look great with a white label and black letters in a classic typewriter font. You could print them larger than true typewriter lettering on your computer. I have a metal cabinet with 27 drawers made for forms, like yours. I think I will change out my handwritten labels for typewriter font.

I have a friend who stores wine bottles in the drawers. Good idea. I have a 9 drawer one I've been trying to decide what to use it for. I don't want to load it up with craft supplies.
