Can you scrap stories that you don't have any actual photos for? I have a ton of childhood stories I'd like to document but I don't have any photos at all. I've seen a few nice layouts that have journaling and embellishments and that's it.

I did some scrapbook pages on my favorite books growing up. I printed pictures of the books from google images and then wrote why I loved those books. Anne of Green Gables, Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, Encyclopedia Brown, Boxcar Children, etc. if you have kids, you can do similar pages about the favorite books you read them.
I've done pages about my favorite songs or TV shows growing up. Google images are your friends.

I do many pages before I get the pictures. I don't put mats on, so I can choose size and orientation later. Get you Halloween or Christmas pages done now. Or, you could watch YouTube and find some cute Christmas cards (if you send them), or make thank you's.

running out of photos? what is this of which you speak? I can't fathom running out of photos...
would you like me to send you the 1600+ I took on the road trip or the 400+ DS sent from Japan (mostly Legoland) or the nearly 500 DD17 took in Europe or...

950nancy's idea gets a vote from me. Have you thought about prepping a December Daily-ish kind of album? You could even tweak and print out a list of photos (often referred to as photo bucket lists) to take for autumn, Thanksgiving (if you're American) and the Christmas celebrations so you can prepare the themed photos to go with the layouts you prep during your crop. This could actually be a very fun way to look forward to the second half of the year! After that, you'll be scrapbooking in reverse: take the photos to fill up your layouts. Heck, it could even free you up when the Christmas madness sets in and robs (most of us anyway) you from precious scrap time... Let us know how you'll approach your photo-less crop. I'm curious to see which way you'll go.

..and i have a three day crop coming up!!! what am i going to do??? Ok I am ready to be flailed BUT..... I would go back through my first layouts and see if there are some that call for a redo.
The other thing I want to do if I live long enough is split up my family albums and create albums for each son. That would mean essentially remaking some layouts into 2 layouts.

i thnk i am just going to start taking photos of random things lol. Pots, pans, sneakers, my car lol. Take some photos of things that represent your daily life. It will be fun in 20 or 40 years to see how things have changed. I love photos that show my parents house from back in the 60's.

It would be fun to do a tv/movie/book review mini album. You can print out movie posters, tv ads, and book covers from google images and write about whether you liked it, who you saw the movie with, if someone recommended the book to you, or even a plot synopsis. Side bonus- those images have really fun colors that aren't in my daily life so I get to use different and unusual supplies that I wouldn't use for my normal photos. I hope you have fun at your crop!

A few years ago, I felt like I didn't have any pictures to scrapbook so I made gift albums for people (my family and a close friend) I got to scrapbook which is the part I love, the pictures were of people I love but the perspective was different.
Have fun at the crop!

First day of my son's 7th grade 4. Thanksgiving 5. braces coming off my older son 6. .... I can actually prep the layouts in advance, and even note what orientations i need LOLOL. This will be weird but fun. Scrapbooking in reverse!!!

..and i have a three day crop coming up!!! what am i going to do??? Not my problem at this time. I am drowning in unscrapped photos from June and July. Happily, I have 3 days set aside next week to get a start on them! I see you recycled some of your older photos for a summer page you shared in the Gallery. Any more of those you could pack up for the crop? Or, like other posters said, maybe scrap some childhood photos of yourself or your kids? If you have a photo album filled with pix you have not yet scrapped, maybe take that with you to the crop and pack the supplies that will let you convert photo album to scrapbook album? Can you premake pages for activities/events you know you will have photos for in the near future?

When we go on vacation, I usually have half of the album made with generic titles that I know will go with any of the pictures I take.

Have you ever done an "About Me" album? They were all the craze some years ago (probably 10 or more). There was a book www.amazon.com/Book-Me-Guide-Scrapbooking-Yourself/dp/1930500084 but also challenges on many of the SB boards including TwoPeas and Lifetime Moments. The idea is to scrapbook YOU - doesn't always require photos. I have a list of challenges/prompts I saved if you're interested. If so, PM me your email address and I'll email them to you (Word docs)
