I have an obsession. I'm addicted to you tube and Pinterest. I can't get myself off the couch to start making the projects I saved to do. I have so many projects half started in my scrapbooking room but can't pull my self off the couch. My list on Pinterest list is growing very long but I yet to make anything but a few recipes. I need help. Does anyone have this problem?

It's not just you. I go through stages where I feel like I'm passively scrapbooking by looking at layouts and collecting inspiration (and buying stuff I don't need haha).
But then I have waves where I bang out lots of layouts. But this period is much shorter than my surf the web and sit on the couch period!

Sometimes I do it,too. Mostly it's because I am just too tired to do anything more constructive.

Not just you. I have the day off and was planning to scrap today. Haven't done any yet as I've been peaing and running errands - but I did clean the craft room so will hopefully launch into things tomorrow.

With all the barely started projects sitting I've got sitting around, I've thought about naming my craft room "the museum of best intentions."
No, it's not just you.

I'm right there with you. Now if I could figure out how to scrap on my couch, I might be better at the actual scrapping part!

There is only so much you can do in a day before you run out of energy. Happens to me all the time. After I get home from work, make dinner, clean up, about all I can do is sit on the clutch and watch TV or go on the iPad.

When i moved into my scrap space this spring i put a big tv on the wall. Plus my room is right off the living room so i can hear DH if he's in there. That helped me a lot with feeling isolated (as my other space was). I find having the tv on provides something i can listen to while scrapping and i'm less likely to pick up my phone for "entertainment".
Now, getting in and starting can be a challenge, but i like having a backlog of things to pick from. Also, i'm a procrastinator so putting anything off is part of my game.

No, it's not just you. I love that name! So far, all my planned and barely started projects are stuffed into bins along one wall in the hallway leading off my scraproom, but they are threatening to take over the whole room! My dad used to say, "I have a LOT of bright ideas. Most of them don't work". I did too. And that was BEFORE Pinterest. Now I have even MORE ideas. Projects completed? Not so much...

For me, I have to tell someone or put it on a calendar, or just say to the universe that I am going to do xxx today. If not, I don't get stuff done. We went on vacation in early June. I have hundreds of pictures to scrap from that trip. I am doing two 50-page albums. In June I printed pictures, found sketches, and made page kits, but it all just sat there for weeks. I gave myself until the end of August to get them all done (three crops in that time so it helps). I knew that I needed to average a two page layout every day. I am currently three days behind (have done 76 pages), but I should be caught up by Monday.

No. You're not alone. I was just telling a co-worker at lunch time that I've got to stop spending so much time watching YouTube. Sitting around and watching others create isn't helping me to create. Instead it's helping me to spend money buying products that I don't need (or won't use). To make it worse, I've started watching funny "haul" videos that have nothing to do with paper crafting. Funny, yes. But I could be doing more productive things. Thanks for bringing this up - I'm going to try giving my self a YouTube time limit each day.

I have that problem too. Not with Pinterest or YouTube, but with other things. Two things that I have found have helped.
1. I make the thing that I'm doing the most the reward for getting other things done. In your case allow yourself time for Pinterest and YouTube ONLY AFTER you have worked some on your scrapbooking. Not necessarily get a whole page done, but perhaps one or two parts of the page. For example, get pictures picked out for a page, decide a LO, and pick papers, then you can Pin and YouTube.
2. I had so many pages started that I allow myself to start a new page ONLY AFTER I have finished up two pages that are already started. It has helped me finish up some pages and projects that I started years ago.

I'm going to try giving my self a YouTube time limit each day. I think I would probably benefit from this. I've learned I'm unlikely to scrap during the week as I'm just too tired so I let myself play online guilt free on weeknights. Weekends are when I'm most likely to have time and energy to scrap so I try to stay away from youtube until the end of the night.

Yes. So now I try to only check them both out at night when I'm in bed.

I do that with crafting stuff that I pin, but I actually try a LOT of the recipes I pin! I think it's because you have to eat no matter what, and it's not any more work to make a new recipe than it is to make an old one. But scrapping and crafting is optional. Plus, I need to do creative things when I'm fresh and have a lot of energy, but I don't ever have the time for that stuff until I'm wiped out and too tired to think.

I think I might be one of the few people who don't do Pinterest. I was actually one of the early adopters, but I quickly decided it wasn't for me. And now, I throw a stomping feet fit when I click on a link on my phone and it takes me to Pinterest and tries to get me to install the app.
I love me some YouTube though. Sometimes one of my dogs will wake me up between 2-3 (because she's silly and forgets to potty the last time she goes out). When we come back in, usually, we head to the couch to watch YouTube until I fall back to sleep. 😄

I do really well with charts and stickers... Sounds dumb to need to do that with something I like to do, but it helps when you can see all those stickers on the calendar and then that blaring blank space you can't go back in time and fill up. I will spend 20 minutes a day in my scrapspace, (not necessarily scrapping) is usually enough to get motivated and the ideas going...
Also planning out my week in advance and saying "Friday afternoon is scrapbook time" help a lot.
I go through buy, buy, buy all the stuff periods, then usually feel like I have all this stuff why am I buying more? I need to use the stuff, so I can have room for new things. Then I get into an intense get a ton of pages done phase, then it slows down (now, other stuff going on...) then a watch lots of videos and pin phase, then back to scrapping a lot phase, repeat. The videos and pin phase is research!
I don't know if this helps, but it's how it works for me.

I go through phases with Pinterest. I rarely watch videos on youtube. I don't have the attention span.

I'm right there with you. Now if I could figure out how to scrap on my couch, I might be better at the actual scrapping part! Actually, it can be done! Adele (Inkie Quill) scrapped a lot in a travelers notebook while she was dealing with pregnancy complications. I'll give the link, but that might just add to the "stuck on the couch" problem... Let's Get Inkie Journal With Me
