This isn't a phrase but I hate the word "Littles" it gets a huge eye roll from me. Me too. I also hate "kidlet". Those two terms just drive me nuts. Yes, everyone should stop using those. They're stupid and not cute. At all.

Being told year after year by school admin, that staff does "more with less". We are told that every single opening day. Way to remind us that we've taken pay cuts every year and there won't be money for supplies and it will all come out of our pockets. We aren't doing more with less. They are just paying less. We make up the difference by spending our own money. When does this turn around? When you stop being a martyr and paying for it yourself. To use a cliche myself - if you permit it, you promote it. Of course the school is going to allow you to keep paying for stuff. Why should they ever change if you make it easy for them to take advantage? It took me years to stop buying stuff for the classroom. Now the only time I do is when it will directly benefit me. It will make my work space more pleasant. It is something fun I want to do with the kids. We just learned that the number of copies we get to make each month has been drastically reduced. We do not have other resources for our students, like workbooks, regular computer access, etc. Many teachers were whining about having to pay to make copies at Kinkos. Not me. The kids can do more writing and they will have fewer practice sheets and tests. I suspect that the final exam scores will go down a bit as a result. I also suspect that the assistant principal will be dealing with more behavior issues in the classroom. Sorry for the hijack. I just get so frustrated when money is mis-managed in education and teachers are supposed to fill in the gaps. "For the kids" and all... Actually, one reason I didn't have to study a lot in school was because we had to take notes and copy stuff by hand. That cements information for a lot of people. Your kids copying notes from the board for study purposes might actually improve scores.

Curate, curate, curate. Everything is curated! Yes curate gets an auto eye roll from me. No problem instead of thank you. Push present. This phrase is just ridiculous. I would say don't even get me started on push present, but I'm sure that phrase is on someone's annoying list. Lol

"It is what it is." Uhhhh, no s**t Sherlock. What else would it be? I hated that phrase from the very first time I heard it. It's moot. We actually had a MEETING at work about this exact phrase, because some associates didn't like that it was being used. Now,as much as I do hate it,I would never even think to complain about someone saying it. My boss's boss actually researched online to find better,or maybe just different, ways to express the sentiment. What a waste of precious time! I could have gotten so much work done in that hour.... But now it's a joke between me and my husband. Before the infamous meeting at work,I would have NEVER even entertained the thought of using this expression.... but now I almost look for ways to incorporate it in conversations. Not at work,of course. I wouldn't want anyone to get upset.... SMH. I don't even know how to respond to this, other than

umami - this seems to be a new trendy word in the cooking/recipe community and i really dislike it! mommy - it makes me irrationally annoyed to hear a grown woman refer to herself as a 'mommy' to other adults. i see it all the time in the "about me" section of blogs, etc.

Oh, my students take their own notes. It does cement information. I mean they will have to copy math problems from the board instead of having a practice sheet. Copy a graph for notations instead of having it given. Not sure what level you teach, but just as a suggestion, you might want to be mindful that some students will have tremendous difficulty copying from the board to a paper, or from one paper (or book) to another paper. My child is profoundly dyslexic, and this was one of the first signs of her struggle. Her teacher kept saying, "It's right there -- all you have to do is copy it!" But it's far more complicated than that when dyslexia is involved. Anyway, it's not an indicator that people are commonly aware of. Sorry for the hijack, but I just thought our experience might help someone else. Now, back to the topic. "Awesome sauce" makes me crazy. And "all the feels" drives me straight off the cliff. Ugh!

I'm always amazed at the hate for "it is what it is".
I love that phrase because I'm a pragmatist. Sometimes things are what they are and there is no sense stewing about it or overthinking it. I'm curious, what would you use to replace that phrase that would communicate that same idea?
I also like "not my circus, not my monkeys" because I'm a school teacher and it usually IS my circus and my monkeys.
I still scrapbook (gasp!) and most of the phrases used on scrapbook products are stupid.

Organic. Overused and pretty true of every food out there.
We had lunch at Amy's fast food and every menu item was described as organic. I said if every item is organic, can't they just divide it by organic like in a mathematical equation and get rid of every organic listed? My logical son liked that.
Until we noticed that the soda wasn't organic...darn it.

Sorry for the hijack, but I just thought our experience might help someone else. And THIS right HERE is how teachers get subtly bullied into buying appropriate supplies and sources for the classroom out of their own money. Does it occur to anyone how those special copies and additional supplies get to your student who can't copy from a board? Perhaps your child has an IEP that requires the school to provide. Most likely though, your kid's teacher is making special copies from his/her own resources and out of his/her own time. School District gets off scott-free, and the underpaid teacher is now making even less money. (this is a spin off, general observation, Legacy Girl and not directed at you.) Doing more with less, indeed.

Fuck yes. Furbaby or furkid. I cringe internally every time my vet tech refers to my dogs as my furbabies. I ignore it because of everything she has done for my dogs. I hate it when they call me "mom" at the vet, but they're really nice so I let it go. My cat is my sidekick, not my child. I'm way too into him but I'm not insane. Then I'm guessing you'd have a problem with "Mother-Daughter Cushing's Disease", LOL. I had it a few years ago and now my dog's been diagnosed.

Organic. Overused and pretty true of every food out there. so for me it's 'farm to table' it's a great marketing trick to get people in the door and it's probably a unique experience for some people but holy shit - most of what i eat is farm to table so...maybe it doesn't annoy me - but it sure makes me chuckle....that they get such a premium for this concept my farm to table meat and veggies are actually cheaper than going to a supermarket i'm lucky and tonight it's green beans and meatloaf...right from my tiny town gina

One of my former managers at a previous job would always say "Onward and upward" when I was stressed about something and every single time she did it I wanted to scream.
Whenever bad things happen, my dad has no empathy and just says "it's just another bump in the road". Both my sister and I get fed up with him when he does it.

I haaaaate Rainbow Bridge! Please just say your dog died, passed away, was put to sleep, or whatever - just don't tell me he passed over that creepy bridge! I hate that term, too. We're originally from the Niagara, Ontario area, and the first time I saw someone post that their dog had passed over the Rainbow Bridge, I thought that somehow their dog had gotten loose and actually crossed the Canada/US bridge in Niagara Falls that is known as the Rainbow Bridge! I also hate cray-cray. preggers and my bad. On the home renovation shows, why can't these people come up with some original superlatives to describe their feelings about how great their house now looks? I swear, if I hear "Oh my gosh" or "Oh my goodness" one more time, I think I will scream.

Cannot believe I forgot this one in my initial post, the phrase Brain Fart. No no no no no. Gross and makes no sense. What does it even mean?!
I think less of people who use this especially in a professional setting. A colleague uses it all the time and we work in a pretty conservative traditional industry. Embarrassing every time she says it.
