My dh and his buddies ordered the fight. They'll be watching out in the shop/man cave. I could give a crap less about it. My dh watches non PPV MMA when they are on and always asks if I want to watch and I'm just not into it anymore. I hope it's a decent fight though for those watching. I hate when they aren't competitive. We used to watch boxing back in the 90's, but gave up after 2 of the fights ended in the early rounds. It wasn't worth the money, even with a group of people. I think the Tyson fight, when he bit Holyfield's ear was the last one we watched on Ppv in 97. Tyson biting Holyfield's ear is about the same time we stopped watching boxing. We just kind of lost interest. My husband boxed in High School and I got interested in it because of him. We used to go up to the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles and watch the fights when Jerry Quarry and Little Red Lopez were fighting. They then started having the fights on closed circuit in theaters. We watched most of Ali's fight that way. Eventually we got cable and started watching the big fights on PPV. After paying a lot of money for several fights that didn't last more than a couple rounds we just stopped ordering the fights. We talked about ordering this fight just because of a MMA fighter against a boxer but do far we haven't gotten around to it.

I checked other because while I've heard of them/the fight, I'm not interested. But I did enjoy the Weekend Update spot, so I'll probably check to see how it ended.

I am watching with dh and ds. I love McGregor, but I don't think he stands a chance against Mayweather.

The Irish anthem was in Gaelic and my dh knew it and started singing it. It was super hot!!! His grandmother used to sing in Gaelic to him and his siblings.

I have zero interest in MMA and boxing, but DH has been talking about it so we are watching. Kind of boring so far- mostly what appears to be poking each other ala "I'm touching you! I'm touching you!".
I'd love to see a Mayweather KO. McGregor doesn't defend his face very well so could be likely?

Mayweather is doing a lot of leaning and turning his back on McGregor.

McGregor will likely not make it through the next round. He is almost down at the end of the last round. Round 8 coming up.

I selected other. I'm aware that the fight is going on but I'm not watching or caring. Out of curiosity, I will follow this thread and/or Facebook to see who won.

End of round 9. Round 10 should be interesting. Mayweather has gained the upper hand.

I ended up watching this on TV in our room with my DH over morning coffee. Stupid o'clock plus a technical delay, I think they said? The guys who are in the marquee on the patio (big event watching party with entertainment) seem to have had a great time and were well-behaved, all told with the glass doors closed last night, we didn't hear a thing. I have almost zero watching experience, but whatever package this hotel selected, it was well done. No screaming, good commentary, focused on the fight not the audience/ nonsense. Not too much gratuitous blood etc- I am relieved. The ref was right to stop it, which helped. I am not likely to watch boxing again, but I have to say it was almost low-key.

I watched last night. Dh and his buddies from the FD ordered the fight. I met Mayweather several years ago in Vegas and he really was a super nice, respectable man. He and another guy were eating at the table next to my friend and me which was really practically the same table. He never uttered a curse word or showed any type of flamboyant behavior like he shows on all of the pre-fight hype. I've sorta followed his matches from time to time.
I have to say that I figured he would win last night. Even at 40 to McG's 29, he had the boxing experience and is a patient, smart fighter with hours of endurance for the match. I felt like McG would come out and peak too early and Mayweather was smart enough to capitalize on him tiring quickly. You gotta respect McG for even attempting to fight Mayweather. I thought he might show some frustration with the boxing aspect and go into MMA mode but he kept his composure. I do think his lack of boxing experience hurt him only because he couldn't use his legs and share some of the physicality of the upper body demands. Missing a punch uses a lot of energy!
One thing I noticed was that Mayweather hardly ever was breathing hard at all. Even at the end he didn't sound as winded during his interview as McG did. He is obviously a strong athlete and trained well for this event in every way possible.
Yeah, so much of boxing is hype and marketing but dang, Mayweather is good at all of that, too!
Probably way more than y'all wanted to read but I love picking apart this type of stuff. I might even watch it again later.
