I need to get back into the habit of walking. I've done both AM & PM in the past. I'm trying to decide where I will be most consistent, but also wondering what advantages you find to either doing it in the morning or evening. I have a treadmill so that's where i'll be for the most part.

Morning for me, definitely. Except in winter when cold is worse in the dark. Then I'm not likely to go at all, until the weekend. lol. But I'm a morning person and there is no way in heck I'll go out to walk after I get home from work. All I want to do at that point is rip off my clothes, put on PJs or sweats and put my feet up. lol

AM. Get it over with. Too many other things come up for me in the afternoon and then I can't do it.

Morning for me. I have been walking every morning for about 1 1/2 years. I go not matter what the weather. If I don't do it early in the morning, then it won't get done. That's just how I roll. I am out by 6:45 a.m. during the summer and by 7:30 a.m. or so in the winter.

As a working mom my morning is much too busy to walk in the morning. After work is my favorite time.

In the evenings if I go with group of friends. Mornings when I walk with my husband.

There is no time in the morning, so if I were going to do it, it would likely have to be after work and after dinner, by which time there are a million other things that need to be done. So, never.

My first walk of the day is at 5:30 a.m. The last is around 6:00 p.m.

Well I am forced to do my walks both in the morning and afternoon. Not really forced, it is a choice that I walk to work every day. And then I do an additional walk in the late evening with the dog.
Right now I prefer the morning walks, it is cooler and there are less people/cars out and about.

Morning. As the day goes on I come up with lots of reasons not to. Also it shapes how I look at my health in general--encourages me to eat better, helps me clear my head, check in with my body about where it's holding tension, etc.

Morning. I feel like making a healthy choice in the morning leads to healthy choices the rest of the day. If I run in the morning, I am more likely to drink more water and eat a healthy breakfast than I am to have that leftover piece of pizza and a Diet Coke first thing (which I've done!).

I like to run in the morning but walk in the evening after dinner. I love the sunset and how everything glows.

I don't walk, but I do go to the gym (ok I walk on a treadmill!).
I prefer morning - I get up and get it done, then I'm home, showered, and able to work by 10 am.
If I had to go in the evening I'd probably never go!

I follow that reasoning, too. I like to start my morning with cardio. It just gets the day going right. I like yoga later in the day for s similar reason. It's almost my transition into evening and the slowing of the day.

I found that waiting until the PM had too many conflicts. I got up 45 minutes early to walk prior to work for 30+ years, until I retired. Now I do it on a treadmill mid morning.

We vary depending on the season. It is too hot here to walk in the evenings in summer usually and too buggy so we do early am walks. As the days get colder, we will switch to afternoons. I prefer the afternoons as I'd rather have my mornings free for other things.

I like to walk in the evening after dinner...it's cooler then, and it seems like the day's aches and pains kind of stretch themselves out when I walk at the end of the day. I can and do walk in the morning when it fits my schedule better, but it usually feels punishing!

Well, I did my most recent six miles this morning at 2:00am, so a bit of both for me I guess . I'm a night-shifter though so my schedule is backwards anyway.

PM for now. Once it cools down and starts getting darker earlier, I'll do morning walks.

I'm out the door by 7 and get in a few miles by 8. Great way to start my day! When it's nice out, DH and I also take a walk after dinner.

Exercise has to be done in the morning for me - otherwise there's a high risk it won't get done as I'll be too tired after work or have to work late,

I am not mobile in the am to do it. I really wish I would wake up and feel like doing it. I don't though. Come evening I want to walk. I hate the sun and I like the cool or cold of the evening.
It really doesn't matter when you do it as long as you DO do it. It's ok to be a night exerciser and enjoy the walk at night.

I have a dog, he and I walk in the morning. He would be huffing and puffing under the table if I delayed the walk until the evening!
Even on the miserable mornings it is uplifting to get out and feel the light and breeze on your skin. Rarely does a day go by without me seeing something lovely. At the moment, the blackberries in the hedgerows are turning ripe and will be ready to taste soon.

If i had a treadmill, I'd plop it where ever the tv was and walk it during a show or two. Probably in the morning.

I walk 2 miles in the morning and then another mile after dinner. Having a dog is great for exercise- I highly recommend it. I will walk, even when I'm feeling lazy, because I can't let the dog down.
I do like having the big walk done before the day really starts going.

I do like having the big walk done before the day really starts going. Exactly!! That's one reason I walk every.single.day regardless of weather--because the dogs have to be walked. They are rough collies (herding breed) so they must get lots of exercise. My day would be horrible if they aren't worn out. LOL! Dogs have been great in keeping me active and healthy!
