I think, that with most everything out if the WH, we'll see Sarah fuckabee sanders walk it back or give an alternate explanation.
They'll scream FAKE MEDIA!!!! or will insist he did not mean what 98% of the people heard it as.
"Oh, course the president speaks for himself! Why in earth would he not?!"
Or some other bullcrap.
They'll say Tillerson "speaks for himself" or he'll be the next on the chopping block.

They'll say Tillerson "speaks for himself" or he'll be the next on the chopping block. It really doesn't matter how many times Tillerson repeats the values of the American people, the international community hears and sees the LEADER of that country doing and saying things differently. They also see quite plainly from every rally, that people agree and support that leader. How many times have we read over times,just on this forum alone, that Iranians must agree with the Ayatollah in Iran or they would have done something about it if they didn't or that the Palestinians all agree with Hamas because they voted them into government? Purely by association the people of the country are going to be put in the same basket of values as their leader be it right or wrong to do so. Not everyone globally reads forums like this to know that there are millions of others that don't agree with Trump. There are millions of people out there that have never met an American, what alternative experience do they have of the American people and their values? All they see is that the American people voted this man as their leader. Whatever Tillerson says the international community IS going to judge the country on the words and actions of their leader. A leader is someone who represents their country in everything he says and does. It's not up to the Sec of State to go round the world to educate others on the values of the American People or to inform them that what comes out of his leader's mouth are not the " real" values of the American people. |

Nothing controversial in this statement, to me. He has one opinion, the president has another.
Sadly, there are a sizeable number of people in this country who agree with that president. More than I ever imagined.

You do need to wonder why true Secretary of State has to do such careful signaling; I wonder to what extent the perceptions of leaders abroad of the president are affecting Tillerson's ability to do his job.

You do need to wonder why true Secretary of State has to do such careful signaling; I wonder to what extent the perceptions of leaders abroad of the president are affecting Tillerson's ability to do his job. Adds new meaning to "tough day at the office". I cannot help but wonder how long Tillerson and Kelly will last...of their own choice or not. I simply cannot imagine the fallout from that. I am just heartsick for the country right now. So many people are hurting. |
