Dh and I were talking about how to send our Gatorade and water to Texas. It sounds silly typing it out, but it's what we can give. We have a case of gatarode from Costco and giant water bottles. And could give more of that if needed? I'd like to send them to someone that's taking stuff over? We can't do $$ as I'm having surgery on Thur, but Dh could take it somewhere? Would they take it. I know they are asking for water, baby food diapers, that sorta thing? Do I call the fire Dept, the local red cross? TV stations? I looked but it's mostly $$ links? Would they take it? I know it sounds silly.. just trying to think of some small way to help.

Can you check your local churches and/or newspaper? I know our area has announced a few different groups that are loading trucks here and leaving in the next few days.

There are definitely a lot of places around here doing collections and planning on transporting them at different times. Online, I'd check local news stations, neighborhood websites, Facebook, etc. to find out who's planning what. A lot of people organizing here are just small local businesses - a company down the road who sells trailers, for example. You might check companies who have to transport lots of gear for business and so are more likely to have access to a trailer. I know that there's a couple of scuba companies here, for example, that have large trailers for their equipment, and they've removed all that and are hauling things south.
And it's not a silly question or contribution. If each of us does what we can, we can at least start helping people get back on their feet.

Local Red Cross and Salvation Army sites are collecting such items.
