So many of us want to know how people are doing. Well, this is how they're doing.

24 hours ago I would have never imagined where I would be today. My heart is broken by what I saw and never could have imagined. Please pray for not only Terry, me and our children and grandchildren but for everyone in SE Texas. I am so incredibly grateful for all the kindness and selflessness shown to us by not only our friends and family, but also by complete strangers. Thank you to the Army guys from Utah who came and got us out with the helicopter. There was no other way to get to us than by air. These angels saved us. Thank you to those used their own vehicles to drive us to the shelter and to Hillcrest Baptist in Nederland for shelter and food. A huge thank you to RM who dropped everything and came to get us, offering her home to us until this is over. I am so blessed and overwhelmed by all the offers from my friends locally and all over Texas offering prayers and their homes to us!! I have no words to adequately thank you all!
We are facing tremendous challenges in the weeks and months to come. We covet your prayers. I give thanks to God for His great mercies. "The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. Now and forever more. Amen."

TO MY FELLOW TEXANS- I have worked as a public adjuster on every major disaster to hit this country over the past 20 years and I am convinced that Harvey will go down as the most significant natural disaster in modern US history. I have to tell you that when I look back at Katrina, Sandy and all the rest, none compare to what we are seeing with Harvey. I'm not referring to the scope of damage here, (which exceeds both) but to the people who ARE TEXANS. After spending a couple days helping with high water rescues, I have been amazed by the non-victim, can do attitudes of my fellow Texans. Not a single person that I ferried to the shelters complained, or asked for anything for that matter, and I can tell you that it was totally different in ALL the other storms. Tonight I watched the news as FEMA and other federal agencies scratched their heads because every Texan with a Jon boat had already showed up and rescued their neighbors. You have stood up, helped your neighbors, shown compassion for the least of these, done the job no one else wanted to do and are showing the world who Texas is. "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few", (Mathew 9:37). I firmly believe that Texas is about to show the world what a few faithful workers look like. Thank you for being who you are and God Bless this place called Texas.
