Edited to clarify since it seems my question wasn't clear: What I want to know is that since we are NOT staying on property we get our tickets on a card? We won't get Magic bands? If that statement is true, can we transfer our tickets onto Magic Bands? Either the ones we have or new ones we purchase?
OP: DH and I are planning to go to WDW in October. I am looking at tickets and was about to buy when I noticed that it said delivery was via email or our tickets would be sent to me.
We are not staying on property this time. I assumed that all tickets were via Magic Band. Is there a way we can "load" tickets onto Magic Bands? We have some from our last trip, but it was over two years ago and I know they say that's probably too long for the battery to have lasted. I am seeing conflicting info and figured the peas would know.

If you go to your profile on the WDW website, you can link tickets to your magic band. If you are staying on-site you can customize new magic bands and they will be sent to you.
Under tickets, I think, it will give you the option to link the ticket number to your currently active bands.
ETA If you are going in October, you want to link them ASAP or you may be out of luck with fastpasses. October is a busy month anymore and you are already past your 60 day window to book them.

Technically, you put information into My Disney Experience and your MagicBand pulls that information. Bands stay active in MDE until you deactivate them. That said, the battery life was expected to be two years. It's my understanding that the battery is only used for long range things like ride photos and personalized info showing up on rides.
