momLook, I feel like I ought to help you somehow. You know what? I'll take that Louis Vuitton bag off your hands so you can free up some space. Out of my pure good Samaritan heart, of course.

Good for you! You can do it!
I created a studio for myself from a room that had been the family computer room for about 10 years. I literally found a slice of petrified pizza under the desk.
Check it with us as you need encouragement and advice! We have your back.

But who knows. I might find some under the rubbermaid containers that we pulled out of the attic looking for my sons stuff from when he was in cub scouts. You never know.

Ha ha! I am not touching anything in my scraproom today, for fear I may tip something over and bury myself. And NO, I am not sharing photos! But spending time in my scraproom--even cleaning--would be much preferable to where I am speding my day.
What I AM doing is cleaning up ONE CORNER of our basement. Started a few weeks ago. Dug in for real, yesterday, and am hoping by the end of the day I have a place for everything and everything in its place!
Things I am dealing with: recycling about a million reusable shopping bags (some thermal), various sizes. large pots for canning and freezing jars and lids and freezer containers cooking appliances and serving dishes used once per year, including everything from a portable roaster to a chocolate fondu set, from giant salad bowls and divided veggie trays with freezer insert to keep it cool to lasagne pans and turkey roasters...
If you don't hear from me, call 911.

That is a very nice room!! Mine gets cluttered too and needs frequent organization. Once you tackle it you will be so glad you did!

Yep, it's a mess, but I love it! So many nooks and crannies to keep stuff in - I'm jealous. Think how wonderful it will be once you sort it all out! I love your attitude - good luck!

I cleaned up my room yesterday for about three hours. It was clean... I just had to put everything I had used for a huge project back into its place and then reorganize each of those areas. The only place I use as a dumping ground in my craft space is my desk. That way I figure I will tidy it up the fastest.
I don't envy you. I hate it when things are where they don't belong.

Ok, its break time. So far, I have cleaned:
---all the rubbermade containers are either cleaned out, or put where they belong. ---white trash bags of clothes are in the back of my car, ready to go to donation ---things for my store are loaded into my car as well. They will get dropped at the store tomorrow. ---smallest closet is cleaned out and organized.
DS1 wanted to earn some money so he has been helping me knock it all out so its going pretty fast.

Sounds like you are doing great! 👍🏻
I should so be doing the same. But the rest of the house needs attention first.

Wow! Way to take one for the team. Don't mention it... Sounds like you're making amazing progress! Child labour does have its perks. Soon, you'll have your lovely natural light-flooded office (which looks like it's at least half the size of my apartment) back. grammadee Stay away from the dangerous piles! I've seen a few episodes from those difficult-to-declutter-slash-clean places and it looks like a scary endeavour.

That is an awesome room - great bones!
It looks like mostly surface clutter - stuff that has a home and just needs to be put away. You CAN do it! And well done on shrinking out of your clothes!

I cleaned out under my kitchen sink yesterday, and I'm traumatized. The dishwasher soap was getting wet on the bottom, so I wanted to pull everything out and put in in plastic baskets. I picked up a dish brush, and there was a spider on my finger! It looked like a black widow, but I washed it down the sink so quickly that I didn't inspect it closely, Luckily it didn't bite me. I discovered that we have a leak from the garbage disposal side. Ugh, I think I need to rest today after my ordeal!
Looks like you're making good progress. Cleaning and organizing SUCKS! But someone's got to do it...

oaksong - that sounds traumatising I cleaned my front door and storm door today - YUCK - I need to that more often from now on because ick! It was nasty. There was a HUGE golden orb weaver spider building a nest between the door and the railing - she'll need to find a better spot because that one doesn't work for me. She's a lovely looking spider and beneficial but ....

Good job, mom! Waiting for After photos! Sounds like a whole lotta cleaning going on. So many brave souls... Lots of spider webs for me: no spiders. I am done. Can now see everything on the shelves in that room, and there is a huge open space where stuff had just been piling up with nowhere to go. Recycling has been tamed, sorted and is ready for transfer out of there. Had a nap afterward, and the first thing I did when I got up was just go down there and admire my nice clean space. Maybe tomorrow I will go down there with some cs and play a bit with paints and sprays on the deep freeze. Nothing like a clear space to invite some messy play!

Good Luck! Two years ago w had hardwoods put in all the bedrooms, scrap room is the 3rd bedroom in our house. I had to completely empty that room, and mine was worse than yours. I did a major deep clean and purge on it. Felt amazing.

I know the feeling! I spent two whole days last weekend digging out part of my hoard so the work tables were cleared and my main desk cleaned off. I still have a lot of junk to sift through, but for the most part the space can be used now. I wanted to be able to do a couple things for DD's new teacher to help her out before I have surgery in a couple weeks and won't be able to volunteer at all for several months. Looking at all that clutter in my space is so stifling!

That is an awesome room - great bones! It looks like mostly surface clutter - stuff that has a home and just needs to be put away. You CAN do it! And well done on shrinking out of your clothes! It was definitely surface clutter! Because my studio is upstairs, its easy to take stuff up there and just leave it. Most people never go to my room up there, so I don't have to worry about keeping it clean for company.

My studio? A hoarders delight! Nah, you're good. Hoarding would be having more stuff than that in a room at most half the size... who me?! Well done on making progress! I really do need to tackle mine, my biggest problem (apart from having bought too much stuff in the first place) is that I simply don't have space to get organized. I'd need to drag stuff into another room just to be able to sort through it, and there's too much to get done in a day. Ugh.
