Compwalla already gave my favorite advice!
I lived in Japan the first time I had kidney stones. My Japanese friends gave me the same advice as the German's advice, move & drink. Only mine was Plum Wine & Green Tea. It helped being in a walking friendly country, cause I walked & walked & walked. Saw a lot of Tokyo! But it worked, thank goodness.

When I had my first kidney stone, I couldn't keep fluids down either. The solution was to admit me for iv fluids + torodol (sp?). Morphine-type stuff makes me sick, too, and the Percocet wasn't cutting it as pain control, but the iv of torodol took good care of me, and I passed the stone in less than 24 hours.
