Elle's Studio is having a dt call. I am tempted to apply. Any suggestions or guidance? If I were to ever apply to any, this would be it. I probably don't have a snowball's chance in hell, but I won't know if I don't try.
ETA: I submitted my application. Wish me luck!

Give it a shot! I have no advice to speak of...I'm sure you're very familiar with their style and what they would be looking for and if what you do is in the same vein. I'm sure it also helps to have a strong social media presence.

I'm sure it also helps to have a strong social media presence. Most companies require this...a blog, instagram, YouTube, FB...That's one reason I never attempt to apply. I don't want to do videos, or blog.

Go for it! Use their products and employ a style you have seen in their on line messaging. Make sure you meet all the criteria in the call. But don't forget to add something that is YOUR signature style.
Can't hurt to try!

You will challenge yourself just by trying, so why not go for it? You'll learn some new things about yourself and your style. If you don't make it, it's a good first step toward the day you actually will.

If you don't make it, it's a good first step toward the day you actually will. I don't really think I even have a shot, but the idea of getting EVERYTHING she makes when I'm a huge fangirl is quite the incentive. I don't think the ask is too much for that. My only main craft social media is my IG and it's about 80-90% craft related. I don't publish what I make very often, mostly what I buy, lol. I think the BIGGEST challenge will be figuring out how to take good photos of what I make. That is the hardest part for me. I would only submit PL pages in my application because that's what I make most of the time these days. I've bought her last 2 collections and haven't cut into the 12x12 at all, yet, because I just don't do 12x12 very often. I just don't know how creative I could be in Project Life because lately it's been lots of labels and little else due to wanting to get things done and focus on telling stories. I also don't do single pages in my PL, so I'm not sure how that would be demonstrated for a DT page. Almost all of my projects are 2-4 12x12 PL pages, so I'm thinking that the left side with the title card (the most creative component of what I make) is what I'd probably end up doing for DT work. The only thing is, I don't know how I feel about having lots of people look at what I make. Ugh, I just don't think it would even be worth my time applying because everything that existing members make for her shop is amazing. I don't think I've felt like much of anything I've ever made is amazing. What does qualify is currently my profile image on my youtube account AND on my IG.

I could very easily submit samples of things I've already made that is 90% or more Elle's Studio products in grabbing any of my PL albums. I just don't think I'm good enough!

I'm sure it also helps to have a strong social media presence. Most companies require this...a blog, instagram, YouTube, FB...That's one reason I never attempt to apply. I don't want to do videos, or blog. It doesn't appear that any specific platform is required. IG is my primary craft platform and it appears that it's acceptable. I am just shy of 200 followers, so it's not that many, but I can tell you that most of the people I follow in the craft world, I follow because they are on DT's of companies I like (I want to see sneaks). It's very rare that I follow someone ahead of them joining up with a company I like. Not sure if that is the norm or an anomaly. I was so confident when I posted about it, but now I feel like I'm nowhere near qualified enough. I know people who've managed to make major DT's less than a year after they started scrapping...but I still feel like a beginning 6 1/2 years later!!

You won't know until you try. And if they don't accept you onto the DT, it may have nothing to do with how "good" your work is. It seems to me that there are always upfront expectations, but also hidden ones that each "judge" looks for in any competition, whether a job interview, a talent show, or a DT call. You don't know what that is, but neither does anyone else who submits. Do your submissions. Tell them how much you love their products. Attach some of the pages you have already done with their kits &/or give them a link to your IG so they can check them out. Go for it!!! Good luck!

Just remember you won't always have control over what you craft. You're crafting to promote someone's business. We had a discussion about this on this board somewhere.

Who better to promote a company than a self-proclaimed "huge fangirl" motivated by "the idea of getting EVERYTHING [the company] makes?" Do your best, showcase your style, & your love of the products will shine through. If you make the team, your goal is accomplished. If not, ask how you can improve & consider answering the call again next time. Wishing you all the best...happy scrapping!

Well, it looks like you all won. My husband was looking at a specific job when he applied where he is now. He ended up not getting that job, but they asked him during his interview if he'd be open to applying for the other job they had open (we didn't know about any other job at the time as it wasn't listed where we found the first listing). In talking with a friend who works for a sister organization, we were under the impression that the person who was meant for the job he was going for declined it, hence the job posting at all. Turned out to not be the case. She got the job he had initially applied for and he ended up getting the other opening. Looks like it wasn't the right fit for her because she quit a few weeks back. The job listing for her position expires on Tuesday and my husband has been ho-hum about applying for it. He is quite happy with what he does and found out that she was making the same as he was (but she had more responsibility). He's torn as to whether or not he wants the job because he will not take it if he cannot negotiate a better salary (there is no benefit in taking a job with more responsibility if his salary isn't going to increase, but he can always apply, try for a better salary and decline the position if there isn't a benefit for him). I told him last night that I'd commit to applying for the DT if he finished applying for the job before bedtime. So he did. I guess he thought I meant that I was going to apply for the DT last night, but I need good lighting and to go through my albums to find what I want to submit. I explained all that to him and he was fine with it, but because he held up his end of the bargain, it means I have to keep up mine. The funny thing is, I'm not nervous about applying. I'm nervous about the prospect of being accepted. I've never scrapped on a deadline before. I would submit 12x12 pages to challenges and those had deadlines, but since I mostly do PL right now, it means I haven't participated in any challenges in quite a while. I'm sure that I'll probably never hear back when I do apply, but the idea of being asked to join is the part that terrifies me, lol. The hardest part for me will be sharing something outside of a project. I'm thinking that the DT would talk behind the scenes and I'd be able to pick seasoned DT member's brains about what kinds of things to share, but 12 months of 'this is what is on my desk' is probably not going to cut it for that requirement, although I frequently see posts like that from DT members of Elle's and other shops. Nerves aside, I have an agreement to live up to.

Good for you! give it a shot if that is what you are interested in. Blogs are kind of "out" now in the digi world anyhow. The designers connected with digi are more interested in posting in facebook groups! good luck.

If anything it's a learning curve. If for some reason your don't make it ask why. Then you can find out what to do different. Good luck and I hope you try out.

Yay! Hope you get it - you must check in here as soon as you hear! They will announce later in the year. If I am chosen, I don't think I would be allowed to, lol. I should know by mid October...if I don't hear anything, it is a good sign that I wasn't chosen.

I don't think I would be allowed to Really? Bummer. I was hoping to hear cool things that I'll never know. Still, if that's the case, then I'm hoping for NO NEWS in October!
