Not coming out the way you expected or pictured. I know you don't get exact sometimes but if it isn't close to what you ask for, would you expect a salon to try and make it right? Went to a new place and won't go back...she made up excuses and said she'd give me a discount to try again...which is only about $10 less than what I paid!!

No, I would not go back if the hair stylist made excuses for it not turning out. The hair stylist should have been able to tell you ahead of time, what would be different than the way you wanted.

I would have gone back if she had offered to fix it...but not only charging me $10 less than the 1st time!

Once the stylist I usually go to tried something new and I wasn't happy with the color. She redid it for me and would not take any payment for the redo. I tried to tip her, but she wouldn't take that either. I was happy with the 2nd color, and still go to her. She knows not to try new stuff on this head now!

Unfortunately I feel your pain. I have had a color/ highlight not turn out how I wanted it. The stylist did offer to fix it but I did not go back to her. my hair wasn't bad but I didn't trust the stylist after that

I had a neighborhood stylist who gave me decent cuts & highlights for a terrific price. I went back in July and found out my gal had left the salon. I'm not terribly picky about my hair, so I just asked if someone else was available to do it. Well, the new gal (whom I'd never seen before) gave me a slightly weird color AND started the "highlights" a good inch and a half from my scalp with a hard line of demarcation - I went home fresh from the salon looking like I needed my roots touched up! To top it all off, she charged $50 more than my regular gal.
I have no desire to go back there, even just to ask for a correction - which makes me sad because it's a very "neighborhood" place, and I knew some of the other gals. Maybe in a few months I'll be over it enough to walk in and ask for someone else (and ask beforehand what the charge will be!), but at the moment, I'm looking around at the other neighborhood salons as i walk by.

Can you call the manager of the new salon? Be specific about what you asked for/showed the stylist compared what you got and how you'd like it fixed.
Most places will redo color and not charge you. They want you to be happy.

They want you to be happy. I considered it. But if the stylist isn't willing to fix it without charging me close to what I paid then not sure anyone else would be willing to eat the cost either.

twoboyzmom it doesn't hurt to make the call and ask for a resolution that makes you happy the stylist is trying to get paid for the time it takes to redo your hair - so go over her head (ha!) the owner/manager is trying to keep a customer happy so she doesn't tell all her other friends about how lousy that salon is - kwim? unless the stylist was the owner, then don't bother!

I did send a message to ask for the owner. She said they are all booth rentals but she owned it. I explained the situation and sent her pics of what I had in mind a d what my hair was, waiting for response

If they're not willing to fix it for free, there is an issue with that salon. I would call and ask to speak to the owner out the salon manager and tell them not only were you very unhappy with your hair, but also the offer of a $10 discount to fix it.
If they don't offer a free fix, I would help the issue, and move to a new salon.

Well
I like your new hair, it looks natural and well done.
That bold striping tends to age the wearer.

I do not understand the mindset that it is ok to charge someone again, any amount, to fix your (the service providers) mistake. I would have no problem vocalizing my expectation that it be fixed at her loss.

It seems as if you would have needed highlights and low lights to get that contrast. Did she ask if you wanted both - because she should have explained you needed some parts lighter and some darker. Right now you clearly do not have the contrast you requested.

Now it's mostly all blended together

Sorry it didn't turn out as you requested -- the picture you gave is certainly clear enough!

I would def do a good conditioner if they fix it. Still no reply back from owner after sending pics.

I am so sorry - I'd be looking for a new stylist and ask for references.

She responded, and in the end only offered the slight discount. That's when I messaged the owner
