I am considering doing a December Daily this year. I have a lot of Christmas papers and embellishments I'd like to use, so I won't be getting a kit for it. Although I AM following the inspirational DD thread in here!
My question is; do you do a DD from 1st-25th, or a DD that actuall spans the entire month, including NYE?
I think I like the idea of doing the full month because it will include the days after Christmas where the kids play with their new toys/games etc, and also New Year's. But if I'm not mistaken, the DD kits only include product to make up to Dec 25th, right?

You can do your own flavour of DD/JYC. However you want is totally fine. If you're doing a "proper" December Daily then you're likely to go all the way to the 31st. But some people have little time once Christmas hits or feel the burnout effect and end their DD album there. It really doesn't matter. It's a pretty rock'n'roll project that requires prepping beforehand and regular documenting throughout the month. So, wherever you stop, be happy and feel proud! I'm not doing a daily approach although I'll likely work on it almost every day. I'm doing thematic "chapters" with many layers. One of those chapters will be about New Year's Eve. Every shape and form is usually welcomed with open arms in the DD/JYC community anyway.

Ali's number kits do go up to the 31st and there is always a card or two that can be used for NYE. I just go up to the 25th - it's so labor intensive for me that I'm completely out of inspiration for new pages and use that week just to finish up. If you look at samples on youtube, Facebook & pinterest, you'll see you can make it anything you want - there are great diverse examples out there.
My advice to a DD newbie is to have a set of cards or little notepad to write your notes on for the day's activities by your bedside - this really helped me when I sat down to work. Enjoy it - we love looking back at the finished products.

I go to the 26th actually. The reason being that most of our family events are done by then and truthfully so am I. What works for me is that I do my title page before Dec.1 and that's it. I keep all my supplies together then just make sure to take one (or more) pictures per day. For me it helps to only use my phone or my big camera. Then usually after the 26th I'm ready to play. I do have the benefit of being on school holidays at this time so I usually take a day or 4 to assemble and finish off the album. Some year's I've been able to work a week at a time but more often than not I do it after the fact.

Normally I do Dec 1-25 but last year we went to Las Vegas for New Years Eve, so I did 1-31. You can start whenever you want and stop whenever you want.Usually though, by Christmas Day I am tired and ready to be done.

I only go to the 25th, but last year I had so many extra stories and photos that I ended the album with a 2 page spread called "Stories that Didn't Make it into the Album" with a full page of bullet-point journaling on one side and a photo collage on the other. I included a few photos and stories from that last week in there. I plan to do that again this year as I absolutely loved it (may be my favorite part of my album). Maybe an approach like that would work for you if you don't want to document that week in as much detail but just include a few highlights.

My December album (which is not daily and never scrapped *in* December!) goes from Black Friday to New Year's Eve. Sometimes if we don't see people to exchange gifts until early January, I add that into the album too. Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas prompts always go through to January 6th.
Since you are using your stash, you could use all different types of numbers to label your pages. So do what works for you!

I do the whole month, but that is in part because we have NYE traditions I like to capture in the album and in part because we don't celebrate Christmas so it is more of a general seasonal/celebration album for our family than a buildup to a particular holiday.

It's up to you! I only went to the 25 last year...mostly because I didn't have ANY pictures between Christmas and New Years.
Some people only go to 25 because their album is THAT jam packed. Others go to 31 because it's replacing their PL for that month.
Whatever the reason, do what you want!

I don't do a December Daily - or at least haven't yet - but if I did, I see me doing Advent through Epiphany because that's the christmas season for us. (which this year would be Nov 29th - Jan 6th)

I've been doing a DD since 2009. A few years ago I switched to starting at Thanksgiving because our college kids came home and it was nice to have family pics and those memories in that album. Also, we often get our Christmas tree over Thanksgiving weekend and I wanted the tree hunting and putting up the tree in the DD album. I have some albums that stopped on the 25th, but if there was lot going on with the kids home from school the next week I go up to the 31st. I have never included New Years Day because I organize my regular albums by year and that is always the first page. My album title is Holiday Memories now rather than just Dec Daily.
So not only are there no rules, you can change it from year to year. After my 3 dd graduated from high school and went off to college I made sure they sent me photos throughout the month. Even though I no longer have little kids at home I have plenty of photos from sorority cookie parties, dates looking at zoo lights etc. because it is so easy for my daughters to send photos from their cell phones.

I've only done a December Daily twice but both times I went until the 31st. My main reason for doing that is not knowing where to put those pictures if i didn't put them in that album. I do project life so when I do my albums they run from January - November and I have a separate one for December. I will also add that the second time I did it, I started the day after Thanksgiving because of Black Friday (Christmas shopping) and then I had a Christmas parade that Sunday so my Christmas activities had already begun.

I've taken a variety of approaches depending on what is going on that year. Last year (which I need to finish) I'm doing 1-25 but the year before I was in Australia until New Years so I did 1-31.

This is how approached some filler days in my album , I do days 1-25 but on days when I might not have something to document this is when I get in my family's Thanksgiving day and I have several family birthdays in November so add these days in my album I just always add journaling that states the days these happened.

I usually taper off after New Years Day, usually somewhere closer to Twelfth Night (Jan 5 or 6). I do Shimelle's JYC and that's when she stops. I find it annoying that the 12 days of Christmas have lost their traditional timing as being Christmas and the days after (I get quite pissy when I see advertisers trying to count the 12 days before Xmas, which is totally meaningless). And we tend to continue to have gatherings after the 25th, including New Years Eve and New Year's Day. We have family in town for the holidays who go home around the 3rd or 4th. And I take my decorations down on Jan 5 or 6, so the last of my documenting is the putting away and restoration of the house to its normal appearance. It would feel odd to me not to include all of that in whatever album or journal I'm doing, but your mileage may vary Do what works for you. Your plans may also change once you're in the thick of making it. Lots of people run out of energy and/or space.

I usually only do to the 25th but I have included the 26th on occasion as we have a big Boxing Day get together. Despite my best intentions I'm usually out of steam come the 25th. I try to scrap it during Dec with the goal of having it finished by the 31st and love doing it this way but am totally ready to put the Christmas projects behind me come January. I keep all my journaling in a word document on the computer and sit down once or twice a week to work on pages (as time allows). I create a kit to work from and usually stick to what is in the kit although I have no problem pulling from my stash if I have the perfect thing somewhere else.

do you do a DD from 1st-25th, or a DD that actuall spans the entire month, including NYE? I did DD for the past 3 years. When I make it, I span it from Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve, and then end it with the Google doodle of New Year's Day.

I take it to the extreme. I start on All Saint's Day and go to Russian Orthodox. I do have a lot of Winter Holiday scrapbook treasures. I do make regular cute pages to go with my December Daily. Like last year I made an election page. I put that in my December Daily. In my area we had a really warm day last year where it was almost in the nineties. I made a pretty Summery page. Of course I have my Thanksgiving pages and Day of the Dead pages. I am going through my holiday items right now decorating for Halloween. I found my DD from last year. I loved how it looks with my election pages and Summery themed page mixed in with all my cute Winter page themes.
This year I am changing it up. I am doing a DD theme journal. I don't really scrapbook any more. I still love to do December Daily. Have fun and play with what works best for your holidays.
