I am going on a scrap weekend this week and want to scrap my childhood pictures. I finally have them sorted from birth to graduation, which was a huge undertaking.
Does anyone have any recommendations on paper to use? I do 12x12 layouts and use both Project Life and regular layouts. I was born mid-70's so a lot of my pictures have that brownish orange tint, so I'm struggling with what to use.
Any suggestions or examples would be greatly appreciated.

I use whatever papers go with the photo. Here are a few examples (hubby in 1966 and me in 1967).

Oh, and if you have a funny tint to your photos, just scan and change them to B&W. Works great. I scan them anyway and never use the originals.

Ok Patter those are fantabulous! peanuttle I scrap the originals bad tint and all. That's what they look like. I scrap theme so much of what I scrap has nothing to do with trying to match colors in the photos. I have scrapped photos from The 1840's to present and I always scrap the event or person or activity. For example, I try to scrap pics of my great grandmother using colors she liked and things like that. It helps tell the story.

I have a lot of orange brown pics from that Era, too. Dh helped me scan them and edit them. We restored the color balance...just 1click in my photo editing program and sent them to shutterfly. I just got them in the mail today and they look great! I have also made some black and white in the past and liked that, too. Love patter's brown and blue page. That looks awesome.

Love your pages, Patter! Have fun telling your story, peanuttle! From what I remember from the 70's, golds and browns and avocado greens were the colours of choice for a lot of home décor. Then in the 80's, there was more blue and dusty rose, and some greys. Any of those colours would showcase your childhood photos, if you keep your pp colours muted. Kraft would be a bg that works with everything. And don't forget to pack lots of flowers and flourishes to go with that 80's style!

October Afternoon has a line with orange and brown; Saturday mornings. The one that has breakfast foods. The B sides of the pages are very 70's looking. I grew up more in the 80's but had a childhood home built in the 70's with lots of those colors. Kaisercraft has an older collection called Homemade. It worked perfectly for me because there is some cross stitched images and my mom has done it for years. Check out fall lines. Lots of them have brown and orange. Usually one side of the paper works for 70's photos.

Thank you all so much, you gave me some great ideas! Patter, your layouts are beautiful! Anyone know where to find October Afternoon? Looks like just a bit on Etsy and Ebay. Bummer, I always loved their lines.

Basic Grey has three lines that I've used for old photos. Fact or Fiction (which was only sold at Joann's but maybe check ebay, it's two lines so Fact is one line and Fiction is the other) worked really well for my 60s photos.
Hipster, which I've used for pages about my 70s house, has tons of brown and orange in it.
Good luck!

I thought I'd be able to find more OA as well. Such a bummer, so many of their lines would be perfect for my book! I did order some of the Saturday morning line from Etsy. I love the Echo Park Fall line. Thanks a bunch for the great ideas!

I don't think we were far from Olantangy! Edited to say that we were on Arborwood Ct. so about 15 minutes from you. Fun, fun!

Basic Grey's stuff -- well, not all of it, but a lot of the stuff from their last few years of existence as a paper co -- can be bought digitally on SnapClickSupply: www.snapclicksupply.com/basicgrey/I know they have Fact or Fiction (plus the Hey You/Boy/Girl lines) because I've been toying with buying it for junk journals.
