Does anyone know if steals.com is closing the scrapbook section of their site? They haven't had anything new on there for weeks. It keeps defaulting to the past steals. Even on a computer that has never been to that site. I usually get my WRMK albums from there, so I would hate to see them go.
Thanks.

I was wondering about that, too.

They *say* that they are clearing out their warehouse and will no longer sell things directly. Instead, they'll sell on behalf of other companies (for instance, freckled fawn...those are all items that freckled fawn will ship, SS is just featuring the products). I honestly think that that part of the site will close sooner rather than later, but they're not saying.

How sad. I wish they would have given notice. I could have stocked up on my albums. I have some steals money built up, maybe I'll shop one last time and then move on.
Thanks ladies.

I noticed that too. I last ordered in may and it took 2 months to get my order which they had sold out of so I took a replacement kit. I decided I didn't care to wait that long anymore so I was only checking every few weeks.

I've noticed crafty steals is doing the same thing. I really hope scrapbook steals continues to post. I'm not near their physical location, but they will hold orders and I was able to save lots of money on shipping when I bought 12x12 albums. It wasn't too far from my husband's workplace, so he got them for me.

Check their fb. They actually are closing and have announced it. Thanks. I don't follow many retail/online businesses on Facebook and wouldn't have thought to follow them. I generally follow manufacturers.

Gosh I have been looking every day, thinking maybe they were in Texas. I did notice my last purchase was mailed directly from Lawn Fawn.

I didn't think to check FB, so thanks for letting us know, scrapaddict702. I used to order from them quite a bit, but not so much in the last year or so. They had some great prices on new lines, often as they were just released. Sorry they weren't able keep it going.

I can see how just being a platform for hosting would be more profitable, but I wonder if it will push the cost of the "deals" up a bit.

What it would mean for sure is that shipping would be out of their hands. They had done a lot to make shipping more reasonable, but now that they're closing the warehouse (at least for SS, not sure about the other sites, I don't follow those ones as much) they don't seem to care as much about the shipping aspect AND the company using them as a platform will be the one figuring shipping when things switch over. When I looked at a few things when FF was up the first time, shipping was so not gonna work for me.

It is super irritating that so many companies post these things on FB only. You know...not everyone uses FB. For Crafty Steals, they put it on FB with no other real explanation (they could have had one in their newsletter but I'm not subbed to it) because they have a 25% off coupon code to go with it. It doesn't take away from the fact that not everyone gets that information, but it might explain why there wasn't some huge formal announcement...if people are going to spend money there and there are some people willing to buy without the extra discount, it would make sense to try and make the most off of their inventory they can. Then again, if they were in a hurry to close, it would make sense to put the coupon code every and anywhere they can in order to move product faster. I know the Steals Network has been struggling for a while. They claimed that dropping back down to 1 steal a day was a good thing, but obviously they're going to try and spin it however they can. I would hate to see them close because they were my gateway into scrapbooking in 2011. I have many fond memories of them, but they aren't what they used to be. Not in the same way that people feel about SC's changes or anything, but it's just changed. There used to be a solid community surrounding the scrapbook side and steals were always well thought out GOOD buys. They are just a shell of their former selves now.

It seems really unprofessional to use that as your only customer outreach. Build an email list from your customer database, or post it on your website. Marketing 101.

Are there any other sites like Scrapbook Steals besides Peachy Cheap? I always preferred Scrapbook Steals because they sold 12x12 paper. Peachy Cheap sells a lot of 6x6 paper pads.

Crafty Steals is a site I used to check regularly. They haven't updated anything since about the time Scrapbook Steals quit updating. I'm not sure if it's related?

Scrapbook Steals finally put up a new listing for the WRMK Magnetic Staple Board. I have lots of steal points hoarded that I want to use. I was waiting for enough points to cover a large purchase including the shipping.

Albums today, but shipping is insane! I have over $22 in steal points, so it might be tempted for 2 albums since they rarely have anything else I want/need...but as soon as I spend them, they're going to have something I have to have and I'm going to regret spending them, lol.

Their deal today (09-15-2017) is 12x12 WRMK albums. I had enough steals money saved up, I basically got shipping for free. I'm stocking up on the albums in case they go away.

I just ordered 2 of them. I will definitely need albums to put all the pages in that I should be making with my new stuff from GB and SC sales. Their shipping to Canada is no worse than most companies. The thing that can be annoying is that they charge tax and duty up front on all orders from Canada, no matter how small. For an order that is inexpensive enough to be below the threshold for having to pay duty if you just get it mailed to you, it makes it more expensive (though still a decent price for these albums).
