We're a house with 3 6s (me and the 2 older kids), and H just upgraded his 5s for the 7+. He used that thing for years until it died, 2 of us had upgrades in the mean time and he stuck it out. No one else is upgrading anytime soon!

I have a 6s plus and was waiting to see the new phones before I decided what to upgrade to. I've been going back and forth but I really think I'm going to go with the 7 plus. I don't think I see enough differences that matter to me between the 7 and 8. So I THINK that's what I'm going to do. That was my original plan, but the price difference between the 7+ and 8+ was minimal. (I have Verizon with a 2-year contract purchase option.) The 8 has a newer, slightly faster chip and the mat-charging capability. Then I looked at the X, and decided to wait on that. I like the size, camera, and new technology features of the X. Not sure what the upgrade price will be, though.

I still have a 5s and it's dying. I have to charge the battery twice daily. Apple suggested resetting it to see if that would help the battery since their tests showed no battery problems. It hasn't so I'm thinking an upgrade is in my near future. But it won't be the 8. Probably a 7 and I'll gag all the way through the process because those phones are so grossly overpriced it isn't funny. I checked the Verizon website and the price of the 7 has dropped so I may go next week and see about upgrading. And I'll give them hell for not giving a discount if you pay the whole amount up front. My son keeps telling me to go to an Android, but I bought an Android tablet a few years ago, kept it for 48 hours, reset it to factory settings and took it back and exchanged it for an iPad. I don't think I'd be happy at all with an Android phone. I have the 5s too and i have to charge it every day, plus some days it just shuts off so I have to hard restart it. My son has the 4s. I'd like to upgrade to a 7 (at least) and give my son the 5s. THe phone is still in really good condition. I also think it only has 16g, LOL so I definately want more space!

The X has image stabilization on both front and rear-facing cameras, but while I'd like that, I don't really take selfies, so don't "need" that (yet).

It does look very tempting. But I am a get every drop of ketchup out of the bottle girl. So I am going to wait until my 6s is dead. I just bought a loopy case for my phone and I highly recommend it. I use to drop my phone every day and now that I have a loop to hold on to I haven't dropped it since. Jen Me too - I'm still holding on to my 5c

Nope. I'm keeping my slide phone and spending my money on a second vacation of the year. Good gracious they are making bank on these high cost phones! These phones almost seem disposable with so many people needing to upgrade all the time. I don't think most "need" to upgrade. This is a want.... And if someone wants and can afford it, good for them. I am also one who keeps a phone til it must be replaced. And I still love my 6s+ which wasn't purchased until my 5 died

I want a bigger screen. I already have 128mb phone on my 6 so 256 won't be a big change,....I'll be thrilled with the screen size of the 8 or the X. Haven't decided on which one. Might wait for the X release and see if 8 deals pop up.

I'm getting the X. I'm very excited to be getting a better camera with it. Also, the screen itself is said to be a little bigger than the plus cameras so I am interested to see if I can actually see a difference. The bigger the screen the better for me.

Make sure you call Verizon when it is time to upgrade. The stores will not help you. My friend works at a Verizon store and he said his only goal is to sell phones and they won't keep you on your contract. I walked out of a store once when they wouldn't let me renew my contract. I called Verizon directly and got what I wanted (renewed contract and phone at contract price) without any hassles.

I preordered the 8+ yesterday. I don't want the X, and the 8+ has an awesome camera. I pick it up next Friday!
I'm getting a nice chunk of money back for my 6 that is in great condition, so that made the price more reasonable for me.

My 6 is 3 years old. How did that happen, it still is "new" in my mind. I'm perfectly satisfied with it still, but the features on the X are pretty exciting. Since my DS pays for my phone, I'll just keep using the 6 until there is a need to change.

No. My 6s is still fine and I can't justify an upgrade. Plus the x is so expensive here.

The camera on the 8+ and 7+ are pretty similar except the 8+ has a new portrait mode and it takes better 4K videos. But both are 12 megapixels and both have the same f1/8 lens.

My concern is they are touting the 8 as havinga glass case. My worry is that I will drop it and shatter the case. Decisions. Decisions.

I didn't say you, I said 'most' ETA. I have a 6s+. I did not consider this to be a need when I bought it. My old five whatever was not working, so I definitely needed a new phone. I could've bought a phone for under $100. But I wanted the 6s+. The 6S plus was an extravagance I could afford. that is the way I look at things. You have to consider for yourself what you need

This last release is so ridiculously overpriced on the backs of underpaid workers, I decided to switch to an Android. I'm pretty much over Apple. And watching the mess they're making of my home town seals it. Done and done. Apple is dead to me. If you want to switch to Android, go for it. But if you think that Samsung and other Android phone manufacturers produce their phones any differently, they don't. As far as overpriced, the base prices for Apple's new models are $699/$799/$999. Samsung's comparable models are $756/$840/$960 Check out OneNet. I have the 5 and absolutely LOVE it. The 128gb with dual sim cards, dual camera (better than the Apple) is only $539.

I have the 6 and considering getting the 8. My friends are saying I should get the 10. Honestly all the bells and whistles the 10 has does not excite me. I think the 8 suits my needs. Make and receive calls, occasional pictures, surf the net and text. Plus T Mobile has this trade in program I am gonna look into. Decisions and decisions.

BUT for people who don't have that same ridiculous compulsion, my philosophy is if you don't know why you would want the highest end model, don't get it. I love love love my iPad Pro but would tell most people to get a non-pro iPad. If the features of the Pro will benefit you, you know it. If they don't benefit you, you're just wasting money. Same with the 8/8 Plus vs. X.

So exciting! Enjoy your new phones when they arrive. I went through this excitement with the 6. I'm cheap so I won't be upgrading anytime soon. We only pay $100/month for four iPhones through Cricket so to upgrade I'd have to eat the $1,000 fee.

I was thinking about upgrading my Samsumg S5 to the S8 in a couple of months when my plan runs out, but now I'm wondering whether I should wait for the iPhone X instead. I haven't looked into the X yet, I'd be interested to see how they compare in both features and price (Samsung and iPhone). I have no particular loyalty to either brand. I really only want a great camera. The Samsung S8+ is $800, and S8 is $750, the Note8 is $930 (these are TMobile prices, Verizon seems to be a bit higher than MSRP for some reason). The iPhone X starts at $999. The Samsung series allows for removable memory - so while they only come with 64gb, you can upgrade that with a micro SD card up to 256gb. With iPhone, you still can't. So you're stuck with what you buy.

If you look up the phones on BestBuy, you'll see that the MSRP for the Note 8 is $949 - regardless of carrier, for example. Eta: and if you put a phone in your cart at TMobile and then go to checkout, they automatically add a $25 Sim Card Kit fee (no choice about this), so they charge you $955 for the Note 8.
