And possibly mud?
I've focused on expanding my business more into southern ohio and that means I'm going into a lot more homes that are in the hills.
Tonight the driveway was 1/2 mile long and all uphill. I have a kia sorrento and it struggled a little in the ruts and gravel. Granted I know I'm due for tires so that made it a bit worse but we could use a vehicle that is a bit more heavy duty.
It's mostly up hills, long gravel driveways, and potential for ice/snow in the winters and mud as things thaw.
I'm considering a jeep, I'm open. To anything else that handles well.
Right now we've got the Kia and a Mini Cooper.
Suggestions? Truck? Jeep? Suv with more booty behind it?

Truck. DH has a Toyota Tundra that drives through snow like nothing.

I drove a Ford Escape for 10 years over every conceivable road condition and loved it. I now have an Explorer, but although it is good on the road, it doesn't seem to hug it as well as the Escape did.

Our 2003 Sante Fe AWD was a beast in the snow. I thought people were nuts when they said how bad it was because i hadn't notice.
I will probably bug another one when I downsize my current vehicle.

I have a Chevy Tahoe and it’s got some badass all terrain tires that I put on it. I had no problem getting out in our 4 foot snow several years ago. It’s a V 8 5.3 liter.

AWD Subaru Outback or Forester. They are very popular in Maine, which everyone knows only has three seasons: Summer, Winter, and Mud.

I'm not sure how big you want to go, but I love my Ford Expedition! It does great in the snow, and in the back you can fold down the seats so you would have plenty of room for any inventory that you bring along with you.

AWD Forester. When we lived in the Syracuse New York area, also known as the snowiest city in the US, it drove beautifully.

I have an AWD Forester and it's a great vehicle. The new ones are quite a bit bigger than mine is I believe. Also the trunk is bigger now. Mine would barely hold a big suitcase. I don't think this is the case now, though.

Subaru. I've driven one form another for years and they go through snow very well. In snowstorms, I often passed by other SUV and 4x4 spun off the road or in the ditch. Not often a Subaru. I think it's because a Subaru has a lower center of gravity or aren't so top heavy. But that's just my theory.

Volkswagen. Nothing better! There's a reason why three of their models are on the top ten list of most sold cars in Norway.

I agree with the Subaru Forester recommendations. I'm on my second Forester and will likely get another one when replacing this one. It handles beautifully in the snow. Once when we were going to Yosemite, they were stopping cars and having them put their chains on. They looked at my Forester and just waved us on through. They knew the all-wheel drive could handle the amount of snow on those roads without chains, although we did have chains with us if necessary.

Get really good tires on the Kia before u decide to buy a new car. Good tires improved my Kia souls performance in the snow (although my next car will be Subaru)

Another vote for a Subie. My Forester and Crosstrek handle bad weather, rough roads, etc. without blinking - and even DH says they're better at that stuff than his 4wd truck.

Love my Jeep. I haven't found anything that will get me stuck when it's in 4 wheel drive.
ETA I have the Jeep Cherokee Sport

As long as I live in Minnesota, I will always drive a Subaru. I've had a Forrester and now an Outback and both were great. Any Subaru model including the sedans are AWD and excellent in the snow. Good luck!

I'll 3rd, 4th,5th ? Lol the Ford Escape. I live in NH which gets a shitload of snow and we don't stop for storms. My Company never closes and the stores are open unless it's a blizzard, which I'm sure you wouldn't be out in anyway. My AWD Escape does great going up my hill of a driveway. Plus, it's much better on gas for all the months you wouldn't be driving in the crappy weather unlike my DH's truck. He has a full size GMC which of course runs through anything, but especially gas! Also, you can get the Escape with not just a regular 4cyl engine. Mine has one that's a little bigger and has this Eco boost. Honestly, it drives like a 6cyl so has more pep going from a stop/start and merging onto the highway. Test drive one. You might like it.

I live in northern Minnesota and will only drive AWD vehicles. I've had a Grand Cherokee and now drive a Traverse. I think a Subaru Outback will be my next vehicle. I'm ready to be a car driver again instead of an SUV. People who have them, love them.

Jeep. We had jeep Wranglers and now a Jeep Renegade. DH has tried to get them stuck and they get through anything. I think any jeep would work great.

AWD is the key. I live at the top of a steep hill, and had two Volvo XC70 station wagons and an Audi Q5. All have been fantastic.
Be aware that AWD will eat up tires, but you'll never get stuck in snow.

We are in Northern Ohio with plenty of snow and mud and some occasional hilly driveways. I have an outback. It is a beast.... We just bought my mother a 2018 Forester. It has Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, that the sales person took us through a rock quary to drive through, MY GOD I WANT HER CAR! It is a great car and I cant wait to see it in action in the snow and mud!!!!
