Im probably the last person on the planet to buy one. The reason I have not purchased one in the past is because I make a pot of half caf every morning for myself and i don't think anyone makes those cups in half caf. However I think they make the machines that take the cups AND can brew a pot? It would be nice to have both options. Do you have one of these? Do you like it? Please help me purchase, as my current coffee maker has bit the dust.
PS - I know that the lighter coffees have less caffeine, but I like the taste of dark coffee. I currently mix dark roast caf with dark roast decaf.....

You can buy a do it yourself pod and add your own coffee. I use the EZ Cup by Perfect Pod

Actually dark roast has less caffeine. Dark roast has slightly less caffeine than light roast but the grind makes a difference also. The finer the grind, the more caffeine is released so a finely ground dark roast may have more caffeine than a coarsely ground light roast.

I bought the Keurig that makes single cups and a carafe for my son-in-law for Christmas last year. He mainly uses the single cup pod because they are on the go so much. It's a nice machine, but they just don't use the carafe part as much as they thought they would. As far as half-caff pods, I like and drink the Green Mountain Half -Caff brand. Yes, it is considered a medium roast coffee. However I control the strength of my coffee by brewing a larger cup. My machine has an option for an approximate 10 ounce size cup of coffee. I have found that if I use the 10 ounce size with the medium roast coffee, it is the perfect strength for me. In fact, some of the mild roasts are so mild that I find I prefer the 8 ounce cup size when I brew them. Target has the Green Mointain Half -caff on sale right now. It's one of the best prices I have found recently. Target Green Mountain half-caff coffee sale

There are half-caff pods, and they are pretty darn good, too!

After two Keurigs failed on me, I bought this: Bunn MyCafe single serve brewer
and I can't tell you how much I love this thing. It takes k-cups, a different kind of round pods, your own ground coffee, and also dispenses hot water unsullied by coffee flavor. You do have to add water for each cup you brew, but I don't mind doing that. No complaints whatsoever after 2-3 years of daily use. Also, I get the Green Mountain half-caff k-cups from Bed, Bath & Beyond with a coupon, or else from Amazon.com. ETA my machine makes one cup at a time, even with your ground coffee. No full pots.

I have had a couple of Keurigs over the years. Loved the 200 the best. Right now I use the Ninja Coffee Bar Brew System. A mouthful to say and not pretty on the counter... It's more work than the pod systems but it makes coffee by the pot or the single serve (you have to use a basket and scoop yourself), but it does so much more too. This may be my favorite coffee maker, even over my Nespresso, ever. I know! It makes a very hot cup, it makes a smooth cup, and it makes it in so many sizes and types I can't even count...
I love my Nespresso for the making the milk foam, but that's it now. I'm all Ninja all the time.

We used Keurigs for YEARS! Loved them, but got tired and a little scared drinking from all of those plastic cups. Yes I know you can use your own little filter baskets but we didn't. The two I tried never worked properly. Also, I had read something about the water tank and water sitting there stagnant if you didn't use it for too long. It was impossible to fully drain the water from the inside of the machine. Something along those lines. ETA: I don't like to not back-up claims, so here is a link. Reviews are mixed. Just make sure you clean your Keurig often! *LINK* (I still say you get the Ninja Coffee Bar though! ) I second the Ninja Coffee Bar rec! I bought one for my husband last May after a good year of going back and forth about not liking the Keurig k-cups anymore, wanting to brew full pots yet still wanting the option of a single cup. This machine is friggin' awesome!!! I usually make a 1/2 pot a few times throughout the day since that gives me a good 2 1/2 cups. If it's me, my husband and my son home together in the morning, we make a full pot. My husband brews a travel cup before leaving for the firehouse. I make a single-sized cup if I just need a pick-me-up during the day, not a full pot. We have the milk frother which is great. My son used the recipe book and has made himself caramel macchiatos. You can brew your cups on different strengths, over ice, etc. There's so many fun things you can do! But in the long run, I just wanted a GOOD pot or cup of coffee in a pinch, and this does the trick easily!

When my Keurig dies it is what is replacing it. I rarely use K cups, I use my own ground coffee in the mesh filter K cup.

I have a Hamilton Beach Flex Brew and can make a carafe of coffee, a single cup, or use a K-cup. It's my second Hamilton Beach like this (the first one didn't use K-cups though) and I'm really happy with it. I love the flexibility.

You might try to find a New Orleans style coffee with chicory - it's not advertised as half-calf, but it's lower in caffeine because of the chicory. It's the only coffee I'll drink (because I like my coffee dark like mud). Community brand is my favorite, it comes in K-cups. I'm not sure what the caffeine ratio is compared to normal or half caf, from what I've read it can be anywhere form 1/3 of normal to 3/4 depending on the manufacturer/brand.
I invested in a BUNN coffee machine (eta, mine is just an ordinary 10 cup machine) - it brews a whole pot in the time it takes to do a large cup in the Kurig we have at work. If I only want one cup, I just brew a smaller "pot".
