That's not hard, It was someones pet. Someone love that animal. Maybe they started feeding it everyday or they swam with it?

I love when you post interesting articles like this! thank you!! strange! for medieval people to be (possibly) interacting with a porpoise to the extent that they would bury it with the same care they would take for a person. (that's the *romantic* view of things, I guess... probably not very likely, though.) I wonder what they'll find out when they examine the remains-- if there would be evidence to show it actually was buried to consume later as food.

That is interesting...perhaps it was a trained porpoise and used in a medieval version of Sea World (of sorts) and after it died,the beloved animal was laid to rest.

what an interesting article! maybe that particular dolphin was held in high regard because it had a special marking or something on it that made them treat it more reverently.
