I subscribe to The Scraproom monthly kit. This month had an Amy Tangerine kit. It seems so random. The stickers are a hot mess. The papers aren't my cup of tea either. I'm just really struggling with what to do with this kit.

Which pp line did you get with the kit? I went to the scrap room but couldn't find the kit you are describing.

It's called hustle and heart. The stickers are so random. A tiger? A taco? It's just such a random mess of things. One of the patterned papers has tea cups all over it. It's just so bright and none of the papers seem to go together.

i'm not a fan of amy tangerine stuff so i'm no help.
personally, i'd probably throw it away, but if you feel like you have to use the papers, try and make them the bottom layer of a page with either cardstock or another paper on top so you only see a small border. that way you're not feeling guilty.
as for the stickers...i got nothin, sorry.
but life is too short for ugly supplies!

I saw Hustle and Heart at the LSS. It's like someone put together a line of random stuff as a joke and they accidentally printed it up. I picked up the floral and there are tiger halves popping out of the flowers. Seriously, who can use that???

Just went to the site and got a sneak peak of the Hustle & Heart kit. Looks really bright, but the B sides look usable. I see a bright sunny yellow, a teal grid pattern, some hearts...

I like the bright colors. I would probably fussy cut the big flowers and use the B sides of the paper. I really like the teal paper in the kit.

Ugh. Maybe see if you can trade it with someone here who likes it...? If there is anyone who does...
I know there have been some discussions around here about the weird motifs in Amy's lines, but there's always someone out there who loves tiger florals or random tacos (just not necessarily the same person). Do you know some kids who would like the stickers?
It might just be best to pass on everything you know you won't use right away so you don't have the lingering bad feelings of getting a useless kit and the pressure to make it work. If you hate it now you probably won't like it better once it's on a page or in an album.

I am going to hang onto it for a little while. Maybe if I break it up or use lots of cardstock. Different embellishments besides the stickers. Something. All I know is I've been looking at it for two weeks now and I just can't seem to muster up the creativity to use it.
So many good tips here. I will sit on it a little longer

I think the random items work better for travelers notebooks and pocket page/journaling layouts. If you look at how Amy uses everything, it's cute and colorful. I'm an Amy fan, but I can only get limited use out of her lines. It's supposed to be quirky and fun, but that's not necessarily my style. I used another line for scrapping a trip to Asheville. That's about as quirky and fun as I get these days.

ITA...a complete random mystery. maybe.....tigers like tacos and tea?

I'd keep the parts I like and sell the stuff I didn't like- either here or on facebook.

I have to admit that I love the colors but agree that there are just some things I couldn't use. I'm torn on this one.

I don't see what pieces of the kit you received, but I googled the collection and it is all over the place--but some of the pieces are cute as individual pieces and I really like how some of the embellishments are different types than you typically see--museum pins, enamel pin stickers, etc. I wonder if she isn't intending it to be used together... I know that's what the general idea of a collection is, but with so many kit clubs out there being the way most people tend to get supplies, maybe she's hoping kit clubs will pick up a piece or two and add it into their kit? I think a lot of the embellishments would make good accent pieces within a less wild kit.

I have a hard time with AT collections as well because they're so random. I'd probably split it up - use the paper and usable things with other bits and pieces and just toss the weird embellishments.

I would absolutely break it up. The lions and matching paper to go with some other "zoo" kinds of things, items I might use randomly added into a mixed ephemera selection, paper to go with anything else I had that worked with it, and a lot of stuff to a "likely never/donate/sell" pile. I just couldn't use this stuff together, it would need to be little random accents. Or, mixed into old sets I had used part of to give them a "new" look. Oh, and any workable b-sides to a "good backgrounds" pile.
Such a super random collection. One of the reasons I joined here was reading the thread about this randomness, the various weirdness in the direction of scrapping industry, and the instagramy hawking of lifestyle products--it was all too funny and too true.

It's just way to random for me. Exactly. I wouldn't even try. She needs to dig through the crates and look at scrapbooking companies made random work. Like Sassafras.

I just can't do AT supplies. I have some of her paper that's been collecting dust for a long time. This is one of the reasons why I've never gotten into kit clubs. I can't stand the thought of receiving something I don't love or have any use for.

The teacup paper would be really hard to use. I would use the B side. Did you look at their idea page? They've done well with using this part of the kit. You could also use your login password and see what they did with it for the 2 page layout. I think that is also posted in the idea section. Here is the link: www.scrap-room.com/ideas.htm

If you find the contents unusable, I suggest donating the entire kit to a daycare/church preschool ministry/children's hospital/etc. As opined in the thread introducing Heart & Hustle over the summer, I never would have guessed this is a "designer" collection. It appears curated from the (picked over) clearance aisle at Dollar Tree. ETA: 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/63160/new-amy-tangerine-hustle-heart

Don't see the tea cups, though. Would they work for Christmas cards or for Get Well cards, as in "Warm Wishes"?

I ordered the tea cup paper on purpose. The B side is a teal with a yellow diagonal stripe. I'm actually doing a page right now with it. It's for my teenage daughters-so it works great.
I'm more upset the sticker book is all clear stickers than the random junk. I actually used that pizza slice sticker for a page about ordering 2 AM pizza...and I don't gravitate toward themey stuff. I backed it on cardstock and cut around it to make it work for me.

I get why people struggle with this particular collection - I would definitely have to break it down, put the stickers in a journal, use one page at a time, probably the B side. Where the collection looks scary is all the papers put side by side.
Most of my favorite collections of hers have been softer, more watercolor. I loved Stitched. Sketchbook, I'm still using that up in my journal. Cut And Paste was so pretty I bought the big book of paper. But honestly, those all had pink. A lot of soft pink. And they looked a lot more like the other lines American Crafts puts out, the kind of samey pink floofy stuff everyone complains about. So even though her recent lines aren't my style, it's weird but I am kind of glad they exist just to show some of the extremes that are possible.

Yup. Totally random but some pieces are cute and may be usable with plain cardstock. So...maybe something with "eye of the tiger" as a title....a zoo visit would be obvious. Or maybe a trip to the circus...old Barnum and Bailley pictures? School mascot? We have a great zoo with a great "Cat Country" and our hometown college mascot is a tiger. Now that I have brainstormed up these possible tiger pages, maybe I should pick up some of this line...

But the B side to the teacups is a messy grid that I liked and bought for that reason.

The hate for this collection amazes me. I absolutely love it. Couldn't wait to get it. I haven't used it yet but I'm looking forward to doing so. I love the bright colors. I love the tacos and the tigers. The jungle print with the tigers hiding in it has to be one of my all time favorite papers ever. The heart papers, the beautiful florals, that gorgeous orange ombre pattern... so much to love. So my answer would be to send it to me. Evidently there is a paper collection for everyone. Now Citrus Twist kits reliance on Pinkfresh products? Yuck, yuck, yuck. I'm going to cancel my kit subscription. Such ugly stuff...

Make it October's mission to find something just as random to do/photograph to go with taco/tiger stickers. Seriously, this could be fun. It would be a page you would never forget creating. Perhaps a visit to the local zoo. Wait for a few hours and snap a large tiger. "Taco 'bout a huge tiger!" Okay, maybe something more creative than that.
