My SO and I are looking for recommendations. I am a huge fan of Costco (love their return policy) so I went looking there first. These are the 2 we're looking at but are open to suggestions to others.
Neither of us have ever had an electric one so we really have no knowledge of what makes a good quality or bad quality one.
My hygienist said to definitely get one that is rechargeable. Are there extras we need to get along with the brush itself?
Thank you!

I started out with Oral B rechargeable brushes and went through several of them over the years. Based on my dentist's recommendation, I switched to a Sonicare and it works much better for me. I think the shape of the brush better suits my mouth and dental needs. I'm on my second Sonicare. They seem to last me around 2 years before they start being unable to hold a charge.

My dentist says Sonicare or Oral B only. He also said that generally speaking, barring a fantastic sale, you want the ones that are roughly $80 or up - below that he says they often don't work very well. (He said this isn't an absolute rule, it's just been his experience.) They have different types of brush heads, though, and you just have to see what works for you. My DH and I went from very old Oral B's to Sonicare. At our first checkups after the change, both of us had bad checkups, and we both see different dentists. So we've both gone back to Oral B. If you like smaller brush heads, Oral B seems to have more choices.

I have used Sonicare for years, and have had significantly fewer dental problems. It has really made a difference.
ETA-just make sure to change the brush head regularly.

I've had my sonicare for 6 years and it's still going strong. I do have to use aftermarket brush heads for it now though, as I don't think they make the original anymore.
My dental checkups went significantly better after I switched to the sonicare. It did take me a week or so to get used to it!

We bought the one at Costco too (like you, we are big fans of their return policy). I honestly have no idea if it's Sonic or Oral B, but it seems to work well. We've all had better check-ups after buying it.

Also a Sonicare fan, my checkups really improved after I started using them on my Dentist's recommendation. Sometimes you can get a coupon from your Dentist's office, or from Phillips, who makes them (check their website). Kohl's also carries them especially around the holidays.

My family loves the Philips Sonicare Diamond clean - and we have used all kinds over the years. I gave them to our adult children for christmas a couple years ago - they said best gift ever! Your teeth feel like they were just cleaned and polished... Costco has a deal around christmas time and they cycle putting the brush heads on special.

My Sonicare is 4.5 years old... DH's is nearing 7. They're both still going strong and have given us better check ups!

I have an oral b with a round brush. I bought this one (my second) from my dentist for $25 about 4 years ago and it still works great. I buy the heads at Costco.

I use a Sonicare and dh uses an Oral B. The boys are currently using Oral B’s because that is what dh bought for them. I hate when I travel and forget to pack my electric toothbrush and have to use a manual one. My teeth feel much cleaner with my sonicare.
As an aside - I keep an old toothbrush head and use it with my Sonicare and just plain water to clean my diamond rings. It cleans them much better than the sonic jewelry cleaners.

We've owned both Sonicare and Oral-B and they are both great brands. However, choose the one with the brush heads that work best for your mouth. I found the Sonicare brush heads to be too large to clean between my teeth so we switched to Oral-B.

I usually recommend Sonicare over Oral-B as I see better results in my patients that use the Sonicare. I've used both and prefer the regular looking head instead of the round one.

DH forgot his toothbrush one business trip and ended up with a sonicare. We've all switched since. Love them
