I have never felt so relieved in ALL my life. I passed my acute care nurse practitioner boards this afternoon. I took it back in February and didn't pass. According to my scores, I was told I only missed it by 2-3 questions. My biggest mistake was not being mentally prepared for the exam the first time.
I went to a review course and started a new plan. It paid off and as of this afternoon I'm a CRNP!!
Now I figure out a job situation. I don't really want to leave my beloved ER but it may be time to spread my wings a little bit. Just so relieved to be DONE!!!!!

I'm not but I live 1.1 mile from the hospital so I'm always "on call" basically. We have already made plans just in case. He came last year without incident so let's hope for the same tonight. Congratulations! Are the CRNPs the nurse practitioners in the ER that sees patients that don't require medications/treatments that have to be ordered by an actual doctor? I've been to ERs that have NPs like that, and the line of patients are taken care of much faster. My GI practice also has an NP, and she's awesome. She has the time to actually talk to patients like me and make sure that I'm getting the care I need without having to physically go to both of my doctors' offices--scheduled visits that would take *months* to get. She cuts through all of that bureaucratic red tape *and* advocates as a woman--my male doctors don't understand that women's pain isn't treated as seriously as men's. So she set them straight. I don't know what I would do without her. I hope you find the job of your dreams. and THANK YOU! for helping people the way you are.

We do have NPs and PAs in our ER and they diagnose, order diagnostics, meds, and can do procedures. NPs in Alabama are somewhat limited but we are getting better. I do think a lot of NPs do a better job of advocating and listening to patients. Sounds like you have a GREAT NP on board. I did a GI rotation and actually really enjoyed it. I didn't think I would but it was with a friend and her hours fit really nicely with mine so I did it. I had several GI questions on my exam today come to think of it. SaveSave

But I am enjoying it much more than I thought I would, and maybe wouldn't have when my kids were younger, so...
