Funny you should ask. The ships comes into our town almost every week for the PNW cruise. We just hosted a group of Texas Aggies on the the ship today to a victorious Aggie football game over Arkansas. All that we talked to have enjoyed the cruise and the food. Of course due to the fires in the Colunbia River Gorge, the itinerary was changed and that did disappoint them some.

It would be fun. Go in the spring when everything should be somewhat green from Pendleton to richland ( this puts in you in the desert and altho the basalt cliffs are amazing , hermiston to richland is incredibly dull and brown.

My in-laws did a Mississippi River cruise with them last year and really enjoyed it.

I actually just returned from a Maine coasts and harbors cruise with American Cruise Lines. Small ship cruising (our ship held 100 passengers) was a great experience and I would definitely do it again. The smaller ships don't have the amenities that the larger cruise ships do but I honestly didn't miss those things. Most of the passengers on our ship were repeat cruisers with American - one couple had cruised 10+ times with them!
The food and service were excellent. Much of the food was locally sourced, and lobster fans were happy because it was offered pretty much every day and sometimes more than once a day. The staff was so friendly and definitely went the extra mile to make sure that passengers had a good experience.
One thing to be aware of is that this line tends to attract older passengers. One of the staff members on our ship said that the average passenger age was 75 - I'm not sure if that's an overall average for all of their itineraries or if that was for our specific cruise. I was a couple of decades younger than most of the passengers on my cruise but that didn't bother me.
