I go to an Oktoberfest party each year with a varied group of people, the oldest of whom is maybe 40. It's a SUPER fun party and I love it, but this year, we're all supposed to go in costume. I do not want to wear the traditional women's costume and I do not think I could pull off lederhosen (or whatever costume equivalent of that is), particularly because the men in our group are, well, totally built for them!!
Any suggestions as to what I could wear that keeps with the German theme but doesn't make me look like an elderly Heidi?

Hmm. A pretzel or beer mug costume lol? Perhaps dress in blue/white, flowers and ribbons in your hair? Or dress in black/red/yellow?
String pretzels on a ribbon to make a necklace?
A pantsuit and a name tag that says "Angela"?

Any dress with an apron. Google Dirndl dresses and that's what women wear.

How about a more nod to the occasion. Like booties, jeans, tweed vest with button up shirt and alpine hat. Oktoberfest is a big deal here and I see a lot of those outfits at the festival.

Following, I've been trying to go to Oktoberfest for two years and someone's had the flu every year. I'm crossing my fingers we'll make it this year. The boys and dh have lederhosen and I cut up one of those leg avenue costumes to wear over a real skirt and with at shirt underneath so it's a little more modest

Thanks!

Sounds like fun, I like Polar's suggestion to make a fashion nod unless you love costumes.
Have I been around Peas too long? My first thought was you'd get dinged for cultural appropriation!
