Rarely do I want to watch something on the internet on TV but I really wanted to watch the Concert for Charlottesville tonight and get nothing.
I can get on Netflix, Hulu, etc but can't actually get on the internet and I'm so frustrated!!
What is the problem?

Most smart TV don't surf the internet. Usually you need to access content via an app.

I have a couple Smart TVs and have never been able to access the internet on them beyond the apps you can use to watch specific things.

Do you have the youtube app on your TV? The concert is streaming on youtube so maybe if you open the app you can watch.

We also like to watch our church service sometimes if we've worked the night before and can't get it on the TV either. So disappointing. I even tried to watch through the Apple TV but couldn't get that to connect either. First world problems, right? SaveSave

Smart TVs are not internet browsers. You need apps to watch stuff.
You say you couldn't get your Apple TV to connect? Are you able to watch things at all on Apple TV? If yes, then if you have an iPhone find the show you want on Safari on your phone and then stream it to your tv via Apple TV. I do this often for things I want to watch that are shown only on a website, like I assume your church sermons are.

They just make accessing web-based video services and using them easier. We use our iPads to stream to Apple TV and view videos that are not part of a web-based video service. SaveSave

I have a Smart TV, but I also have a Chromecast dongle hooked to it. For things that I can't get on my Smart TV, I find on my phone, and "cast" it from my phone to the TV via Chromecast.

I second this. Hulu, Netflix, etc. just stream their own content. Chromecast is similar in price to a Roku, and you can click on any video online and cast it to your TV. (the app attach the chromecast onto your internet browser--the same way you add on a pop-up blocker, etc.) You can even cast on multiple TVs in your house depending on where you are--bedroom, living room, etc.) The dongle is like a thumb drive that just plugs into the side of Smart TVs.

My smart TV is only as smart as the app I'm using. (It took me many weeks to figure that out).
