Does anyone have any experience with This? It seems like in the last 6 weeks or so I'm looking hair like crazy! I have fine hair but lots of it and normally I only wash 2x week. I have the usual hair loss stuff but it seems like it just escalated! For what it's worth I just turned 40, color my hair and while I do have stress I don't think the stress is extreme. I have no thinning patches or bald spots. Just lots of hair loss, like by the handfuls (approx. 25-40 strands)
Should I be worried? Go on vitamins? Get my thyroid checked? (did that about 3 years ago and everything was normal)

I would see your doctor for lab work. My hair was falling out due to being very very very low Vit D. Once I was in the sun more and added vit d pills, it stopped. It was also the cause of me being tired, moody, and with bone muscle pain. I thought it was my thyroid. But that was perfectly fine.

Go for a check up. It could be thyroid, vit d deficiency, elevated blood sugar and a host of other things. It can also be menopause related.

Do you have anything else abnormal going on besides the hair loss? Hair loss by itself could be a symptom of numerous things. Weight gain/loss? Night sweats? Tremors? Depression? Fatigue? Anxiety? How are your fingernails?

I take Biotin in the vitamin section...my hair was really coming out and I believe it has helped, you have to take it for a bit to see a difference...anyway it seems to have helped and like others a check up first may be in order and ask the doc about Biotin ....

Definitely have that checked by a professional. I lost hair a few months back as a result of a surgery I had, and I took biotin and bought a shampoo designed to strengthen hair a bit. Mine only lasted a few weeks but it was awful.
Looking down on my bedsheets and seeing clumps of hair was almost traumatic! They have remedies for it though, so don't feel afraid to use them!

I've actually had 2 surgeries in the last 4 months! I didn't know that could be a factor! No other real symptoms, any weight gain (or non-loss) is totally on my lack of good eating. Which in actuality is only a couple of pounds. I've been tired but I think that fits more with the infection I've been fighting: this would be the reason for surgery #2. I think I will make an appt to get some blood work done though.

Mine is falling out in gobs because my thyroid is probably shutting down. (Waiting for a call from the doctor today with results from bloodwork and a plan.)
It could be so many things. I'm glad that you are going to have it checked out.

I lost a lot of hair when my hormones/thyroid were switching over a year after each of my kids were born. The doctor said the hormones and thyroid fluctuating can cause it. At another point in my life, my scalp was itchy and was having hair loss, so I got scalpicin and rubbed that onto my scalp nightly and it helped. Good you are going to the doctor for bloodwork!

I find it goes in cycles. It'll seem excessive for a while then will calm down and I'll forget about it for some time. Mine is menopause related.

I'm so sorry you are going through this! A complete blood work panel sounds like an excellent idea to me. Just wanted to mention that when you do go to get a thyroid test to make sure they test for more than just a typical TSH test. Some doctors will still only do that one test and it isn't enough. To read up more on this there is an excellent website called www.stopthethyroidmadness.com When you go to the website they have a list of 11 tests (multiple thyroid tests plus a few extra) to ask for including a test for the defective MTHFR gene-this is diagnosed through a simple blood test. It's a very easy, simple to read, wonderfully organized website. I wish you a quick recovery!

I was having problems with this last spring. Started using collagen powder and it got better. In the last few weeks it has been worse again. Maybe it is just the growth/loss cycle and I'm just now noticing it? I also haven't been using as much collagen so need to start that up again.

Needtime, I have that problem when I got to be about your age. It suddenly just starts shedding on me.
The timing of your surgery sounds about right for it to fall out, it takes months for it to take effect.
I have been intermittent fasting since July, and I've worried about hairloss ever since I started and have been on the lookout for it. It started falling out yesterday. I'm taking my biotin, using Rogaine, giving it everything I got to help lessen the loss.
I'm sure it's your surgery, please don't worry too much until you hear from your doctor.

Mine is thinning like crazy, but I know it's due to my weight loss (down 68 lbs since Nov). I've been to my doctor and dermatologist...they both say it's a reaction to the weight loss. I've been taking biotin and multi vitamins. I can't say they work, but maybe the loss would be greater without it?

I feel like you do...I think with everything I'm throwing at it, the hair loss is kept to the minimum.
