This morning my heart is breaking for the kids in my small city. Asheville has about 100,000 people in the metro area but it operates like a small town. Since Thursday we have been rocked by 4 deaths. Two men, Dads, one a deacon in a large church who worked with the youth group, the other a very popular, statewide Teacher of the year, who has taught third grade at three different schools for over 20 years, both committed suicide. Completely unrelated incidents but occurred at the same time. Both were shocking to the people who knew and loved them. They both left behind kids in local high schools and middle schools. Many of my friends knew both men. I did not know either of them, but I know one of their wives. But the pain those they left behind is horrific. Then last night a teacher at the local middle school was in a car accident. Her 15 year old, one of my daughter's classmates was driving. His 13 year old brother and 10 year old brother were killed. The teacher and her son are both still in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. I can not imagine the pain they are going through. It is so much for a small community to bare. I feel so sorry for all the children. I can not imagine how they are dealing with all of this at once. I write this because my heart is heavy. There is so much pain and anguish in our world right now, I think it is important that we remind ourselves to be gentle with each other. You really don't know what is happening in someone's world. Here is a link to the article .... I just can't imagine what the Mom and young man are going to go through. www.citizen-times.com/story/news/local/2017/09/27/school-counselors-called-after-two-children-die-crash/707332001/

That's a lot to handle in such a short time. I feel so bad for the kid that was driving. How do you get over that? Bless him/her. I just can't imagine. Prayers for comfort for everyone effected by all of these events.

Oh how awful Individually they would be a big loss but to have to deal with three such heartbreaking events together must be an unimaginable loss to the whole community. How tragic for all the families involved.

How awful. I hadn't heard about it over in Hickory. So very heartwrenching for so many! May God wrap His loving arms around all of them in the days and weeks ahead!

I'm so sorry. Each of these deaths is a tragedy by itself, I can't imagine trying to process it all at once. My heart really breaks for the 15 year old.

I'm sorry. I feel particularly for the 15yo girl. Not sure how she's going to get past that (if it was her fault).

I'm sorry. I feel particularly for the 15yo girl. Not sure how she's going to get past that (if it was her fault). 15 year old was a boy. Apparently, he went off the road into a tree. No skid marks, he was driving the speed limit, one minute he was driving on the road, the next minute he was hitting a tree. The Mom was looking at some papers and said she looked up and thy hit a tree. The two in the back seat died of internal injuries most likely caused from seat belts and the sudden stop . An unthinkable tragedy... the poor boy and his Mom.

I appreciate your warnings in title, even though I still clicked. I'm sorry for your town. It's hard not to feel heaviness in the world these days.
