to package everything up and put everything away?
In all fairness I did divide up all the meat, chicken breasts, chicken thighs, steaks and salmon and Food Saver'ed it all into packs of 2. Then I Food Saver'ed up 2 lbs. of ground beef and made 3 lbs. into hamburger patties so I could Food Saver those into packs of 2.
But dang, it took me 3 hours to do everything! Going to Costco takes an entire afternoon for me.

Oh yeah. I have limited freezer space so it takes me awhile to portion and creatively cram the freezer full.
I always pick up a rotisserie chicken so I can have a quick supper that night.

Heck, it takes me an hour just to put away the regular grocery shopping. A Costco trip is much worse!

Yes! My first goal is to get everything crammed in the fridge. Then I start prepping things one at a time while I listen to 70's music. It's the music that makes the whole thing tolerable

Yup that's why I'm aware of when I put meat in the fridge as it may take a day or 2 before I finally get around to Food Saving it.

I am so glad it is not only me that takes a day to do a costco trip. I always come home and food save everything into meal size portions. I some times put it in the fridge and do it the next day. Depends on if We do Safeway and Costco the same day. We did that last weekend. We didn't get home until after 4 and I wasn't about to spend the whole evening foodsaving everything. The nice thing about it is we now can have anything we want for dinner. The chicken is really nice when in the food saver bags because when you thaw it you don't have to worry about leakage in the fridge.

I usually just put mine in the fridge and then package it up the next day. It does take awhile.

be grateful that's all it takes you! it'd take me days to do all of that! last wk I got 2 chicken breasts and didn't manage to take care of them for 2 days... then I cooked 'em and sliced them into strips and bagged them in 2 strips to a baggie. made chicken salad with 2 strips for that day, and the next, and the next - . Those 2 chicken breasts will last me about 6 wks! I went to the store earlier - took me an hr and the store is about 5min from me. I only spent about 60.00. It took me 4 trips from car to house and there are still a few things in the car (2 jugs of water and bottle of pepsi). I'll get them the next few times the doG needs out... it took me a good 2 hrs to recoup from that trip to the store. didn't buy anything that needed split out/froze.

Ohhhh yes, it does take hours!! I go to Costco (UK) about once a month and by the time I've got home, unpacked and stored bottles of water and Pepsi etc., reorganised the fridge and then got the Foodsaver busy and stuff in the freezer, I'm exhausted!!

Costco here takes forever to unload and re-package and disperse. Then I find out I already had 3 of whatever it was. Then I remember what I should have looked for. Costco roasted chickens are awesome! Their penne alfredo or butter chicken or manicotti is soooo good. I usually love their fruit section. I can get my Honeycrisp apples a lot cheaper there. I didn't get my white peaches this year, but did get a bag of avocados and they were fabulous! I often buy their Tuff Athletic clothing (well I did until I got fat) and it has lasted equally well as Lululemon's so I don't mind paying a ton less for the same thing.
We used to buy burger patties and give them to the dogs. we would package them into 2 in a package and freeze them. That took forever and your hands feel cold and gross. Then it was packages of ground beef for the dogs...ick. The packages had to weigh 8 ounces and then got frozen. Now that took forever. Their lamb chops get eaten immediately. So does their prawn with that sauce (cocktail sauce--hate the stuff) but the shrimp are very, very good!
But the unpacking does take forever. Sometimes I run to the local mini market because I don't want to deal with a big supermarket.

I don't buy much meat at Costco. The steaks are way to big for me. (I also started buying 1/2 beef every fall so that is a huge help). We do buy sausage which we divide up. I started buying the frozen chicken breast (costco brand has less water than the others)and they are individually wrapped. We did the Costco run yesterday and it took us a while to put everything away. We hadn't shopped big for 2 months so it was a lot of stuff. But my dh equally helps so it wasn't to bad. I like Costco so I don't mind the time to take care of it.

While I do buy meat at Costco, I don't buy multiple packages at one time. Usually just what we are going to eat that night or the next night. So it doesn't take me too long. I portion it out and then freeze the rest. I learned my lesson on having to much in the freezer.
One good hurricane = no electric = lots of wasted food. So while I have several meals worth of stuff in the freezer, I try not to go over board.

I was wondering about that brand, they have lots of it there and thought the price was good but was kind of "hmmm".
Every time I go there I buy my new grandson a sleeper, EVERY TIME! They are cute and inexpensive. And one can never have too many sleepers can they ?

For me, it starts even earlier. Since I know I'm going to be returning with lots of things that store in the frig, freezer, and pantry, I have to clean out and rearrange those before I head out to Sam's. Otherwise, all that food ends up sitting out too long as I cuss at the crap I'm pulling out of the back of the frig that I can't even identify any more. Or the cake mixes with expiration dates in the last decade I'm a really good bargain shopper. It would be wonderful if I actually USED all those great bargains!
