Anyone interested in doing a traveling tea box? I've been weeding through some teas and have some that are perfectly fine but not my thing. Many of them have good reviews on Steepster, so it's mostly just personal taste. I've participated in TTBs through Steepster, and it's kind of fun. Basically, we'd get a list together of maybe 10 people. I'd send a box to the first person, who could take what she wanted and replace with an approximately equivalent amount. Then she'd send it on to the next person, and so on.
While everyone likes different things and different brands, I would request that it not be all grocery store stuff. A few things like that are fine, but it would be nice if we can try to have lots of different options for folks. For at least this first go round, I don't want to restrict types of tea - caffeine or no caffeine, herbal, rooibos, black, green, etc., all fine. I would also say that loose tea or bags/sachets are fine. Original packaging or clearly labeled ziploc bags - word of advice, if it has a strong scent like peppermint, double bag it!
If this works, we can look at expanding it another time, but I don't want people to have to deal with international shipping and sending herbs across national boundaries, lol.
If you're interested and/or have ideas on how we should do this, please post here!

Love the idea! I've done this before and it was fun. What do you think the box runs shipping wise?

I don't want to participate but I do have some Harvey and Sons tea I didn't care for. I could mail to you and let you share the love if you are interested. Message me, and I can send it to you. If not, no worries. Just thought I would offer.

The medium flat rate priority box currently goes for $13.60, which is big enough but a weird shape probably for tea. And of course, the lower shipping speeds would be less, and I think that would work fine for this.

Sounds like fun. Loose leaf or bags? Opened bags of loose leaf okay like the ones from Adagio or sealed only?

I might want to send you some tea to share, too. My friend goes to Paris every year and always brings me tea from the fanciest places, but I mostly just like plain black tea. Or you might talk me into playing. I'm a sucker for swaps!

I realize that's maybe taking a lot of trust, but that's kind of why I figured it would be better amongst people we "know." If someone doesn't want to take ones that are open, they don't have to.

Oh, and I personally am fine with loose leaf or bags. Most of mine is loose, but I do have quite a collection of bags or single serving loose leaf. If this goes over well, we can always try for a more specialized one another time - but I figured for a first go round, we'd keep it as simple as "swap tea or tea-like herbs."
Also, it doesn't need to be a huge quantity. I have a few that I have a good amount of, and some where it's just enough for a couple of cups. And when you take some out, you don't need to take the whole quantity unless you want it. This is just a fun way to try a bunch of teas that you might not have heard of, or maybe not even chosen if you had! I discovered a favorite by doing this another time, and it wasn't one I likely would have ever gotten otherwise.

I'm thinking I'm about a week away from being able to have a box ready! If y'all are cool with this plan, PM me your address. I will only share your address with the person who needs to send you the box. I'll start a new thread when I send it, and we can use that one to post when we mail it and what we kept/liked out of the box.

PrettyInPeank, Ryann, papercrafteradvocate, Patter, peaname, lucyg, originalvanillabean - anyone still interested? I didn't get any responses to my last post, and that's fine if people have changed their minds! (I know a couple of you I've tagged said you weren't interested, but I just wanted to be 100% sure. ) If it's just a couple of people interested, I'm fine with just sending a RAK - but it is fun to see what other people have discovered! If there's concern over sending addresses, we can also work it out to where when person A is ready to send the box on to person B, B sends the address only to A. I could just keep a master list of the order, and keep y'all updated. Anyway, if you're still interested, PM me and we'll figure it all out based on how many want to join the final group. (And if you didn't post before but are interested, PM me, too!)

I didn’t see your last post (before this one), sorry! Let me check what’s in my stash and get back to you. I might just want to send a RAK or two.
ETA sending you a PM.

I'm interested. I have a good selection, although only some are fancier loose teas. I hate buying a bunch of something because I like having a variety. LOL
