Did anyone attend this year? I went last year and was curious how it compared. Thanks.

I was wondering too. I saw some pics on Instagram and some of the projects looked great.

I have to confess, I had a little bit of FOMO going on this year but then I was reminded of the things I didn’t enjoy last year. I’m interested in hearing how was different this year, and is there going to be one for 2018?

I believe there is and I think Cynthia/DB is going to be doing another workshop instead of a designer day class. I did notice they still had round tables.

I went this year. It was my first year - so I can't compare to last year. Stephanie said 183 people attended this year. I did hear people say the schedule was better this year with longer breaks. The classes were 2.5 hours each with an hour and a half for lunch and a half hour between the afternoon classes. There were some issues with the elevators and escalators at the conference center - but the venue is old, so that was to be expected.
I didn't attend the Friday night make and takes and crop as my friend and I were too tired! I heard that it was crowded and there were long lines, but that the project were good.
I thought the SLC classes on Friday and Saturday were excellent. Great projects and plenty of product. Learned a lot from Paige Evans and Celine Navarro - techniques that were new to me.
I didn't do Designer Day - but there were rave reviews by our tablemates.
The onsite store PolkaDots was nice and had products from the companies that attended.
We came home with some great products and inspiration. The sponsor giveaways on Saturday night were impressive - lots of nice prizes. (I didn't win any - but did win several prizes in class drawings)
Its not a cheap weekend, but we did enjoy the format and the quality of the classes and instructors. People traveled from all over the country and Puerto Rico.
Right now we're planning on attending next year. Its October 18-20. The Designers for next year look amazing!
I believe they announced it will be the founders of Simple Scrapbooks, Vicki Boutin, Julie Johnson - the founder of Paisley and Polkadots kit club, the Doodlebug ladies, and Stephanie Smokovich. I may have missed someone - sorry if I did.
You can email Nilmarie@bellablvd.net to be put on the waiting list.

I too attended for the second year and signed up for next year. stephraek, I am curious no know what you did not enjoy. I did not enjoy the round tables, we were assured that everyone would have a view of the screens in the room, which wasn’t true if you had the chair with your back to the screens. I felt like all the instructors should have printed handouts ready for each class - we all create a different pace and again if you had your back to the screen you needed the hand out or eyeballs in the back of your head. The schedule last year was “off”, sounds like they addressed that issue this year. I didn’t like how they made you feel like you needed to be there so early to get a spot in line - check in on day one was quick and organized and then there was all the waiting in the hall before they started the first class. My opinion was that the doors for the class rooms should have opened 10 minutes prior to class. Instead they opened them exactly at class time and you lost that 10-15 minutes getting yourself a seat at a table and getting things out of your bag. One lady was waiting outside the center at 5am to be sure she had a good spot in line - it was crazy. There were other things as well, and there wasn’t 1 big thing but 20 small things that just really irked me.

There were full color instructions for each class that I was in. I would agree that the round tables are not ideal - I did have my back to the instructors. The good part was that the instructor and their helpers did walk around with samples during the class.
I also agree with you on the Friday morning dash for a table. I think there has to be a better way to handle that. We were right on time due to an elevator issue, but we did get to sit together. I didn't see any one have an issue finding a seat, so there was no real reason to come early and stand and wait.
I think Stephanie, Nilmarie, Becky and their team have tried to take the participants suggestions and improve - so, it should get better every year.
