So, I logged into FB to get in touch with a few scrappy friends last night (I rarely ever use my account there anymore) and I saw a post from Becky Higgins. She posted a live video last night and although I didn't watch a minute of it (lol) there were several comments about being excited that the round corners being sold now are going to square.
Has anyone heard anything further?

Okay, so I wasn't dreaming this. I set my alarm for 4am PT (my time zone...crazy early) just in case the flash sale from Hero Arts was leftover kits from the past couple of years (since they probably have 'just in case something happens' kits stashed away somewhere) but it wasn't. I didn't go back to sleep immediately and saw this in a couple of places on FB, but figured I could just as well have dreamed about it, lol.
I think it's great, but I also think it's too little, too late. The M's selection is a third of what it once was, Hobby Lobby discontinued it altogether, and J's rarely ever revamps that section and has just recently done so. It will be difficult to find on sale, but you know the quality isn't going to improve because of that. The only upside I can think of (if they do several releases, the photo that I saw posted in one of the groups was all pink, so thanks, but no thanks) is that Joann's is finally starting to carry older releases online again, it's just that they'll ship slower than molasses since they aren't stocking it, it's being shipped by the supplier (and those who bought the latest oxides said it was something like 2 weeks to ship). Thankfully, I'm a patient woman when it comes to waiting on orders, lol.

I thought SC was already very late to the square corner game last year. But this is extremely late. People have been moving towards simplified looks for a long time. Goody lucky, Becky!
I hope this means they're also going to release some new kits, finally. Isn't Project 52 for 2018 already supposed to be released at this point of the year?
I can't imagine what will happen to the huge stock of rounded corner kits they'll be left with. You know the majority of people who still buy PL kits will jump on those square corner ones straight away and probably never look back...

That would be great if BH finally did that. But since my Michaels and Joanne's barely carry her stuff anymore, I doubt I'd be able to find the new products locally. I love square corners so much more.

Interesting!!! With some of the comments around lack of availability of divided page protectors, and BH really pushing her digital products, I was beginning to think that we were seeing the end of physical PL products. I have enough core kits to last me a lifetime, especially since I don't often use them for pocket layouts...more often I reach to my pattern paper scraps. I do sometimes use them in my regular layouts though. If they come up with something fresh and modern (and with square corners!!!) I could be tempted by another kit.

If folks still want rounded corners, they can use a corner rounder punch, though I suppose that would make it a longer process before you stick the card in the pocket. Still, options. You can take corners off, but you can't add them back on. I don't know why she didn't switch long ago.

I stopped buying her kits awhile ago because of the round corners and was sooo happy when SC switched. But I thought BH was very married to the rounded corners and wasn't going to change even if that's what customers seemed to want. I would possibly consider newer kits if they have squared corners, but it will be weird having some products with them and some without... or are they going to start manufacturing the kits that have already been released with square corners?
I hope that Paislee Press makes another kit with square corners because I will order that without hesitation!

They had to make them the way BH said they had to from what I gathered about their partnership and they design and plan months ahead...which means that they weren't prepared to switch until well after they were kicked to the curb by BH/PL.

But I thought BH was very married to the rounded corners and wasn't going to change even if that's what customers seemed to want. I asked once when BH said she used square corners in her photo books why the kits couldn't be square corners too. The reply I got? BH likes variety and that's why physical PL is round but digi PL is either. So lame. I do mix the round with the square in my pages but I also prefer square corners. So nice and crisp and graphic.

Wow, FINALLY. Not that I care on a personal level any more... This would have been a change I would have been excited about 2-3 years ago. As msliz said, you can always round the corners if you want to but you can't do anything to make rounded corners into square corners. I don't know why she was so married to the rounded format.

I do a little PL on occasion and those round corners irritated me no end. If I put something with square corners on the other side of the page I have to round that picture's or card's corners to match. I don't do enough PL to go out and by another set at this point but I agree that Becky is a little late to the party on this one.

Hmm.. I wonder why they switched? I noticed at Hobby Lobby yesterday, the only PL things they have now are all on clearance.

I did rounded corners my first year of PL (2013) and after finding little bits of rounded corner all over my house for a year, I quit that when I started 2014 and never looked back. I never was a core kit person though. Not enough variety for me. I knew there was no way I'd ever use that many of the same card. I could be tempted with a mini kit now with the square corners. I do purchase her digital products on occasion and print them myself. The best part was always being able to make them square.
I agree with everyone who's saying she's awfully late the the party. I would be very curios what her sales are in each area. If digital/app is a bigger market share, especially since she is disappearing off store shelves.

(shhhhhh, u guyz, this is awfully close to having an opinion about BH, and you-know-who will get really irritated and ask her minions their opinions about why people always have to give their opinions on BH).

But I am excited! I think it is great, just late too the game. Does any 'but' mean I'm disallowed my own opinion?

I freely mix round and square cards on one page. Can someone post a link to the new designs?

It's not too late for me. I can buy Project Life supplies at my LSS and international shipping for some kit clubs is far too high for me to purchase. So I'm open to all options for square corner cards.
Not sure I like the designs of PL branded stuff enough to purchase but I'll keep my eyes peeled for the new offerings.

Well I hope this change means there will be some new product! And I hope that she focuses on the smaller kits instead of the core kits because I'm tired of PL core kit shares.

I am in awe that you all do project life...I have a few cards but the process seems overwhelming so I use them as layers on my pages.....I think it's incredible that you are able to focus, I usually end up staring at the divided page protectors without a clue!! LOL!

woodysbetty to answer your question, I treat my PL as all separate little layouts in their own pocket. I work on each photo/card as it's own thing. I don't worry about matching them all to each other. But that way works for me. I didn't mind the rounded corners in the beginning of my PL, and I would mix the 2, but for the last year I have only done squared corners. I am surprised it took so long.

LOL! PL is a brand of products. No rules in how to use them. Sounds like you are using them in a way that works for you!

Long overdue in my opinion, given how easy it is to round the corners.
